  1. Paula, I am very happy for you!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!![
  2. I don't know for sure that my petition was picked up. The only way to know for sure is when DOS tells you that the file has been entered into the computer. I called them (DOS) today and they say don't have it yet. BTW did you call NVC and/or DOS today?
  3. Second paragraph http://www.jobjournal.com/article_printer.asp?artid=463
  4. Were there any similar cases here on CFL that we can refer to? I wonder if this happened before. It also might be a good idea to contact a good family Immigration attorney, and at least get some advice.
  5. mama bear, thanks for the info. I hope you are right and we will get the P4 soon. Free, I know it's a P4, I mentioned P3 for all the K1's and K3's on board. I believe your petition should be in GUZ but you need to call NVC and DOS and press them for a positive confirmation on this. Good luck!
  6. Just ran a DHL check and what do you know? they picked up all the packages that were sent in September, but one from 9/6 wasn't. Get ready for some P3's soon!
  7. After staring at your charts cross-eyed for a few minutes, here's what I'm getting from it: 1. In 2005, P-4s were issued predominately at either the beginning, or the end of the month. 2. In 2006, P-4s are showing a trend of being more evenly issued throughout the month. If this data is true, and I have no reason to doubt it, it would indicate that GUZ is becoming more efficient with it's issuance of P-4s. Is GUZ efficiency increasing in other areas also, like quicker turnaround of P-3 issuance and / or when they pick up their mail from DHL? They are taking longer to pick up the petitions from DHL lately. Some of the packages from early September are still there. I think we are going into a serious bottleneck now
  8. I think that this is a very good sign as they are handling the case and it's not seating on someone's desk (Or shelve). I really hope this will come to a positive conclusion, and finally you will get the visa!! Good luck!
  9. In light of the I864 thread at the GVD section, (A shocker to many) I did a little research on the net. These are only 2 of the many articles that I found. Do you think there is a bias against men in the US? if yes, why? http://www.dvmen.org/dv-115.htm http://fact.on.ca/Info/pas/turkat95.htm
  10. Maybe you should try to call NVC since they are the ones that sent the petition and ask them what you should do? maybe they can send a duplicate of your file to GUZ? Tell them that it's been almost 5 month and nobody knows where your file is. I wish that someone with more knowledge was online right now to help you because I really don't know what else you could do. Good luck!
  11. Someone suggested to type I-730 in the reference field. dnoblet it seems our petitions were sent at almost the same time.
  12. Free, I really don't know what could have happened with your petition. It should have been at the embassy by now. Have you called DOS? I would start there. I think that you should contact your congress man, and/0r senator as well. Others on this board may have other suggestions. If the petition is lost then maybe NVC can send a duplicate? I don't know. You need to get pro active on this, Free, I know I would. Good luck! BTW my petition was sent 2 month ago and the embassy still doesn't have it. I am starting to get nervous too.
  13. I think that all petitions that were sent from NVC in August were already picked up. I saw here somewhere that some of the September petitions were picked up but not all. Mine was sent on 9/21 and wasn't picked up yet. When was your petition sent? Are you the one with the July petition that was lost?
  14. All the petitions are seating at the DHL facility, waiting for pick up..
  15. What court system? You're being much too generous here Trigg. The reason why I'm so adamantly against this new law is that they completely want to hide these "prisoners of war" from the normal criminal court system and place them under god knows what system. I'd be more than ok if some impartial judge had a look and said there's enough evidence to bring this suspect to trial. I'd even be fine if the judge set an outrageously high bail/bond--at least it was a judge who made that decision. What I'm NOT ok with is to give the executive branch so much power that that can pick you, Lee, Stacato, or my SO off the streets tomorrow and brand them with the moniker of "suspected terrorist" and we could never hear from again. I just can't believe this is the vision of America that some of you are agreeing to. When that happens, it'll be too late to say: oh, wait a minute, my wife is not a terrorist. There's been some mistake. TOO LATE THEN. You have no recourse to appeal in any court system. Then what will you do? Why are you insisting on taking this to the general population? Show me one case that an innocent American citizen was held indefinitely for terrorism. This is not Argentina of the late 70's. This is America after 9/11/01, fighting (Yes fighting) an outside enemy. These are not criminals. These are TERRORISTS, and should be treated as such. Do you believe that 9/11 was a criminal act? Do you think it might happen again? do you want to do everything in your power to prevent it from happening again? These type of actions did not exist prior to 9/11. They forced it on us, so why blame ourselves? They brought it upon themselves. I can't believe that some are always looking at what we are doing wrong instead at being angry at the source. I also believe that a lot of it comes from "Bush hating" more then anything else. (OUR COUNTRY WAS ATTACKED IN THE WORST WAY SINCE PEARL HARBOR AND MAYBE WORSE AND YOU CARE ABOUT THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS?? How about caring about your own people's safety? (this includes, but is not limited to your family, SO, kids, parents etc..) I would like to add that difference of opinions is ok. As long as the conversation doesn't get personal. Different points of view make for interesting discussion and I hope everyone can keep it that way , as we did so far.
  16. Amen!! Old Tom was a bright guy!! How am I giving up my own freedom? I am not a terrorist, and I am not a suspected terrorist, nor will I ever be one. Nor is the person being accused until prooven so. Why make them give up all rights to due process?? Why not simply set their bail so high that they can't get out until their case has been adjudicated?? To imprison in defiantly on 'suspicion' with no legal recourse wreaks of fascism--not of freedom!! It seems like they don't want to take even a slight chance of them getting out, because of the danger involved. Don't forget we are talking about terrorists, who can inflict serious damage on mass population, not regular criminals. But what you suggest will probably have the same effect. The suspect will not be able to get out. We are talking about 'suspected terrorists'. They aren't terrorists until a judge/jury says they are. Still, our court system allows for the potential danger a person may be and the courts can, and do, often set bonds so high, or allow no bonds, in order to protect society and all they need is EVIDENCE, not suspicions!. Go to the conclusion in page 16. It explains the government's view on terrorists as "Unlawful combatants" . Some look at them as "Criminals' . I tend to agree with the government's view in this case. I think they are prisoners of war, not criminals. I think we are in a war. Other's may think differently http://www.fas.org/man/eprint/reid.pdf

  19. Is there a dead line for submitting a tax return or W2s at the interview. If the interview is in March for example and you have all your W2's and 1099's but don't have a complete tax return, is that enough? Are they (GUZ) going to demand a tax return by a certain date? Thanks again.
  20. Ken, I copied this from another thread for you: Option1: Suppose you have $1,000 invested in U.S. stock or bond market for 10 years and receive an average of 7% annual return. After 10 years, you decide to retire in China and convert your U.S. investment into RMB at the rate of $1 = 5.5 RMB, then you will have 10,819 RMB. Option 2: you decides to convert $1,000 now into RMB at the exchange rate of $1 = 7.8 RMB. Then you put that money into a China bank at an annual CD rate of 3%. Then in 10 years, you will have 10,483 RMB. From above, you can see you are slightly ahead in your U.S. investment option. From 7.8 RMB/$ to 5.5 RMB/$, that is a 29% drop of the dollar against RMB in 10 years. So it all depends how much (or whether) the dollar will drop against the RMB in 10 years. Remember the tax consequence, as all RMB savings in China are taxed at 20% while USD investments could be tax deferred in an IRA account. Taxes will reduce your return significantly.
  21. I don't usually like to take sleeping pills, but this is one occasion where you might want to consider taking one at night, before bed time. Wake up fresh in the morning. You're getting married, zillion things to do.. not much time on your hand. Good luck and congratulations!!!
  22. Much thanks David and Scott. Yes, He (The mailman) assured her that he will call, and yes her family can call also if they get it, so I guess You're right and I shouldn't change anything now. The only thing I am worried about is if GUZ finds out about the new address and grills her for it, but we'll have to take that chance.
  23. My SO and i are not sure what to do. She moved into a new apartment 2 month ago. She can't get her Huko yet until she gets a certain piece of paper from the builder (This is a new apartment that we bought) that is not ready yet. Her last address was with the family and they can receive mail for her. However I informed her that the P4 may arrive by carrier service (does it?). Well, she said that she notified a post man in her local town and that he assured her to deliver the mail directly to her. Complicated enough? On top of that she said that changing address this late in the game is not good. Should I notify GUZ about the new address anyway? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!
