  1. Ours took about 290 days. Hang in there, it will happen.
  2. DOS called me last Friday and I was told my fiance's name check was completed at of Oct 27th. 290 days to check her out. Now that I just got back from visiting her in China. I'm broke and have no vacation days left. Nice timing But I'm not complaining! Nothing will stop me from being in china for her interview. I have asked GUZ to schedule her appt in Jan so I have time to save cash and I also receive more vacation at the new year. It's been so long I think I have forgotten everything I need to know to prepare for her interview. I'm hoping with the huge paper trail of letters to GUZ, phone calls, inquiries from senators, congressmen, even the whitehouse, that we will skate through the interview. Time will tell.
  3. Doesn't matter who you write. No one can or will speed up a background check.
  4. Rick is correct. Your case has been going on so long i forgot you already had the interview. Good luck.
  5. Congrats Nat! That's great news! However, it's going to be 2 months before GUZ receives the forwarded petition. So you have a while to wait before you start calling GUZ/DoS again. Maybe I should start emailing GUZ everyday then. There is no petition to be forwarded. GUZ already has your file. Now it's just a matter of waiting to be put into the waiting for the P4 and put in line for an interview date.
  6. I called this morning too and was awarded with December 13th as our interview date. But am slightly pissed as we filed in May and they made us wait 7 months instead of the usual 6. your pissed? lmfao. We filed in Oct 05 and are still stuck in a black hole.
  7. Looks to me your just looking to purchase a wife to perform a duty for you. something stinks imo.
  8. It's not a bad idea. It could save her life some day. If she's in America, then she probably already understands just how dangerous this POS country we live in is.
  9. He has several books of the same name. Which one is it?
  10. i have no opinion on GUZ yet! Well actually I do but i'm a bit scared to say it out loud
  11. Haven't heard of that before but it wouldn't surprize me if they did a security check ON their security check! It does sound like they gave up on the old one and started over. It is probably good news. At least something happened as opposed to letting you sit there for another year. I'm still amazed that our govt can call it a security check. Dum Dum #1 "Gee, we better check this name to see if it comes up as a threat to society". Dum Dum #2 "Put it in the box over here and I might get to it in the next several months." That is great! "wouldn't surprize me if they did a security check ON their security check"!
  12. Thx Lee. I have a feeling something will happen soon. Going to Nanning next week and hope to have good news when I return.
  13. I was finally able to get through to DOS today. This is something I do at least 3 or 4 times a day. I am positive that one of these days, they will give me good news. So today when I called, the nice lady told me that our case is pending security check as of September 1, 2006. What? How can it be as of Sept 06'? Because as some of you know, our case has been pending the security check since Jan 2005. I asked DOS if this is good news or bad. DOS told me in her opinion this is good news. It means that they have thrown out the old, and have begun a new check. She was speculating that maybe the other case was lost or that the continual request of inquires into our case by myself and everyone else maybe have finally caused some attention. It's all speculation at this point. But it does seem odd that this sudden change of the pending date. Anyone else hear of this before?
  14. You do not get your divorce "notarized". You get "one" certified copy of your divorce decree(s). Usually this is a single page. You'll need this for all divorces, not just the most recent. Then you follow one of three methods. Two have been mentioned. If it is convenient to stop by a US Consulate in China for an hour or so, this is the easy way. If not the third way, is to do this through an agent like www.visarite.com in New Jersey. With all but the US Consulate method you may still need notarial transations as required by the local Chinese Marriage office. The Certificate issued at the US Consulate is issued in English and Chinese, so no further translation is needed. Ok i'm getting it now. Thx for the clarification.
  15. Thx gnat.......good info. Sure hoping I won't need it. One thing to note, while we like to do things in multiple copies the Chinese consulate will usually only issue one and only one document for your single certificate. Make photo copies of this to be sure. Besides the Chinese are much easier in this process, you don't mail it to anyone, because you carry it in to the marriage office yourself, they collect it and you walk away with the marriage certificate which makes the single certificate invalid anyway. Then you only need to get it translated at the Notary Office and multiple copies are a real good idea on that one. Like David said, it's getting close so hang tough. Go ahead and get your congressman's office to request a status update on the status of your case, it can't hurt and maybe it will shake things loose. I have tried 2 senators, 1 congressman, 1 governor, 1 president. DOS tells me it's a waste of time for these officials to make an inquiry into our case. They are told the exact same thing that i'm told when I call and there is nothing that any Senator can do to speed up a background check. The WhiteHouse even forwarded my letter to the head liason of the DOS. He personally wrote me a letter and explained that the DOS understands the frustration and hardship loved ones go through while waiting for this long process to be completed. But he stressed that the security of our Country is of great concern and that everyone must wait for background checks to be completed. No exceptions. I understand this fully. But no one on gods green earth can convince me that a background check should take this long and I don't believe for one second that someone or some department is working on this case with any kind of sincerity. As for the single certificate. Thx Mike, thx Lee. I will get several copies of my most "Recent ?" divorce notorized and bring this to china and get the single cert in nanning.
  16. Thx gnat.......good info. Sure hoping I won't need it.
  17. Thx David. I completely agree with you. Just try telling my fiance that. You make a good point that we will be getting an interview date at some point. I will continue to try and convince her that waiting is better then starting all over and waiting again.
