  1. What I"m trying to do is buy a ring and bring it to china to surprise her just before her overcome appt. I think the HongKong ring size would be the most accurate. At least I hope so.
  2. WOW, we're just all over the place here.......
  3. If jim says a size 5 is probably too big......then your 7.25 will be HUGE! Srange how difficult it is to find a China to USA conversion.
  4. Oooops now i'm even more confused. Using the HK conversion I would have ordered her a size 4.5. But then again she did say her "hand size" was a 10.
  5. I did find this. Hong kong ring size the same as Mainland? http://solitaire.com.sg/knowledge/ringsize.html
  6. Anyone have any contacts in China that may be able to provide an accurate ring conversion chart? My fiance says she wears a size 10 in China. That would be in usa about a ???????? i'm guessing a 5 I hate to guess so any help would be great!

    Medical Exam

We did the medical on a Thursday and her interview was on Tuesday. We couldn't pick up the results until Monday. I didn't like the pressure of cutting it so close. IMO it is cutting it too close unless your there at exactly 8:00am and request expedited results.
  8. Hello USCONGUZ, If the blue slip is asking for both the beneficiary and the petitioner to provide proof of residence for the ex-husband and ex-wife. Then what other options are available if the ex isn't available or the ex just plain resuses to provide the documents. Is a notarized letter explaining why he or she is unable to provide the required document acceptable? Thank you.
  9. Hello USCONGUZ, You are saying the wait time currently for an overcome appointment is one month. I have been calling 4 times a day for one week and everytime I'm told there is no available slots for appointments. Can you please tell me if slots are updated as a large group once per month or if they are added a few at a time to the availablitliy on a daily basis? Is there a certain day of the week which is better to call? Thanks much!
  10. As far as I am concerned.....You've hit the nail on it's head here! I whole heartedly agree with what Steve and Qingqing said here. I couldn't have said it better! Papa Bear Well as a poor person, I see that not only am I physically challenged, I am morally challenged with this group too. Not only me be several of us on this group. WE do not FIT because we are on the lower end of the scale of richness. I never in my life thought that I would read from someone YOUr TOO POOR TO GET MARRED! I guess that I should go next door and tell my neighbor that HE is too poor to get married. He only makes minimum wage, works part time. He is engaged to get married. He has bills out the wazoo. His x-wife took everything except the house which he is now heavily in debt on because of her. He wants to marry a poor Philipino gal too. He has a 4 bedroom house with a 2 car garage here. She has an equivalent to a shack to live in on the farm. You know everything is not about money in life. Sure it takes money to live, but not EVERYTHING is about money. If the US wants to raise the fee so be it. I am allowed to bitch. yep! Am I not allowed to get married? I don't think so. Last time I looked this was AMERICA. I am 3rd generation German, my family was poor as hell. Still is. Except my sister. She got lucky. But my Gradfather and Grandmother still brought over from Germany others in the family. They came to America and worked. Stayed with my grandparents until they were able to stand on their own. In return They Brought over more of the family. Oh well I am poor so you don't want to hear from me. I just babble. Rick don't let those that feel they are better then others just because their income is higher get you down. I have an average income but am broke as hell due to this entire process. Now I have to work my ass off to try and save enough for another trip for her overcome. It means pushing out some bills and playing the W2 game. Sometime the middle income can be just as hard off as the lower income.
  11. I/we used the one at the top of that list. At least he will talk to you and doesn't put you off. Of course our case is near completion but I'd have to say if you want a lawyer that will not give up, this is him. How much does King charge for somthing simple like preparing documents for overcome and turning these in?

    ACH

I will be attending the American Citizen's Hour but am not sure what I would even ask. I understand it's important to show up so that it can be put in your file. Any suggestions? Friday 2:30pm correct?

I need to know the day and hours of ACH please. Also anyone who has attended ACH, is your conversation with the VO private, or are you in a room with everyone else listening in. Anything in particular I need or should bring? Thanks much.
  14. Ok to be more exact. K1 visa P4 received Will be doing medical one week before interview. I'm not asking about flight expenses. Just what is needed for processing such as medical, IV. Thx rosyanne. I think you answered my question. $100 for visa. Is that the citi bank charge and receipt for which must be brought to medical? $100 medical (approx)
  15. Anyone have the link to the costs for medical and visa fees and any other fees preparing for interview. Thanks much.
  16. You also deleted my post even though I was sticking up for her.
  17. Excuse me but I have gone through enough crap in this process to know if calling DOS is a good thing or not. DOS was able to send enough inquiries into our background check in order to free it up and start the process over. Then is was completed within 57 days after waiting nearly 10 months. Don't tell me DOS is a waste of time. But I guess you suggest just sitting back and doing nothing! Of course all my comments are meant towards any delays in the name/background checks. Waiting for custom clearing is a different matter and YES I do agree that doing nothing is the only thing you can do. But once it's at GUZ, calling DOS from the US is the best thing to do.
  18. If you are calling from China you will need to dial the US country code of 001 then 202 663-1225. If your spouse is in the US they can call the number as you have shown above. I called DOS once to check status of my K3 package after it had been about 45 - 50 days since being mailed from NVC to GUZ - it was a waste of time - reply after waiting some 20 minutes on hold was "sorry GUZ has not received the K3 yet" they would not give me any other information. If you do call beware that they will put you on hold and there will be nothing, but stay on the line a recording will eventually come on. I called again on 10/19/06 just before leaving for China (still here in Zhanjiang) and got put on hold and 15 minutes later they closed and hung up on me. My wife received her P3 on 10/30/06 while we were in Beijing so it was 60 days from being mailed from NVC until receiving P3 in Zhanjiang China. GOOD LUCK I called DOS 3-4 times per week for 10 months straight. Never was I put on hold for more then one minute. And if you call right at 8:30est you only have to wait a few minutes before someone picked up. The past couple weeks I have called at different times of the day and have not had to wait for more then 3 minutes. Most of the ladies at DOS are nice and will do what they can to check on your case.
  19. Yes in my opinion calling DOS is better then calling GUZ. Call DOS every chance you can. Everyday if need. It's their job. They will soon get to know you by name.
  20. Rick and Nat I hope you both have better luck this time around. I know both your cases have been going on long enough.
  21. Good point, I almost forgot about Citizens hour. Thx
  22. What I can tell you is that my fiance's background check began in jan 05'. In Sept they decided to start all over with a new background check. DOS told me that this may jump start that name/background check and it's good news. DOS will do what they can to help you. They sent inquiries into our case every month starting in April 05'. After they restarted the background Sept 1st, it took 57 days to complete. I still think her background check was sitting under a pile of paperwork for the 1st 9 months.
  23. It does matter who you call, especially when there is a distinct difference between the "background check" and the "name check." Background Check = done at the USCIS level before a petition is approved and sent to the DOS. No petition can be approved until both the petitioner and beneficiary have passed the background check. Name Check = done at the DOS level after a petition is approved. The name check process is performed on the beneficiary to determine whether or not they will be safe to allow into the US. If there is a delay at this level, you need to contact DOS and request an escalation and specific reason for the delay. The DOS will launch an investigation on behalf of the petitioner, but you must first get the dialog going. We were stuck at the DOS level for quite some time. I was told it was name check. Then next time they would call it a background check. I never knew what the heck they were checking. All seems the same to me. They were checking on my fiance and that is all that I needed to know. lol
