  1. My wife will definitely take advantage of this. I talked with her last night and we will file our application September 21, 2008 beating the October 1, 2008 deadline. We were just wondering how that would work, they actually will give you a choice of test, is this because some may not have had time to prepare for the new test?
  2. My wife received her conditional green card Dec.21, 2005 so she should be able to file on Oct.21, 2008. Thanks! Good luck So It looks like she will have to take the new test. The new redesigned naturalization exam will take effect on October 1, 2008. After this date, all citizenship applicants must take the new test. Individuals that have submitted their citizenship application before October 1, 2008 but been scheduled to have the naturalization interview after October 1, 2008 can choose whether to take the current or redesigned naturalization exam. All applicants scheduled for the naturalization interview after October 1, 2009 must take the new test. I missed calculated she should be able to file September 21, 2008 so she should be able to take either test.

  4. My wife received her conditional green card Dec.21, 2005 so she should be able to file on Oct.21, 2008. Thanks! Good luck So I believe she would have the option to take either test?
  5. Congratulations! It is a great feeling yes. After you receive your 10 year green card I thought you had to wait one year to take citizen test if anyone knows can you verify the wait time if any. My wife would like to take hers next year if possible.
  6. This must be something fairly new my wife sent hers in some time in 2005 and they returned it extended. I believe this was changed I quess.
  7. We had a good experience at my wife's biometrics they were very polite, professional and helpful. When it came to finger prints and the photo they made my wife feel very comfortable. On the way out one of the staff asked us if we had drop a photo we had told them it was not ours but they were looking for the person that lost it.
  8. OK I will try that approach with them both...... And Merry When they get here, give me a call. I will hook you up with a wonderful female Chinese PEDS/OBGYN. Thanks and again, Merry The beautiful part is try to find a USA OBGYN who knows how to adjust or remove the Chinese IUD, and has tons of experience doing it. Saves a trip back to China. Not to mention, she will explain the importance of going to an American dentist too (remember, everything a Chinese doctor tells her will probably be regarded as the gospel truth). My wife had what you called the ring IUD device, there was no string. She had irregular bleeding (spotting) so I took her to our doctor, she recommended maybe just keep it, I told her no I wanted it to be removed then we would know if this was causing the problem or not. It had been place for like 10 years, we agreed to have it removed and then tried another IUD and problem solved. In China as far as I understand these can be left in for many years where here they recommend to change them every 5 years.
  9. My wife tried ESL class but got frustrated because it was mostly Spanish speaking students. Lucky for her she got a job at an all English speaking college working in the kitchen and they even had a private tutor work with her at no charge. She has been their over two years now and has work at two other American fine dining restaurants and catering for private parties. This has help her the most actually immersing herself into the English language, she told me once she got here to discontinue the Chinese TV. She loves to cook and bake so I would fine recipes for her, she would write them out while learning our measurement systems and spelling the words, she also learned to spell and read menus. Being a restaurant owner and food inspector for the government in China most people think of her as a chef they love her baking and cooking, the presentation, taste and creativity. Today she has made great strides and I am very proud of her. It takes time just work with her, when I come home from work I will always ask her how her day was and she loves to share this with me, I believe she enjoys that and it helps us to communicate with each other. As far as doctor visits they would always supply an interpreter in the begining and I found a Chinese dentist. Today she does not need an interpreter and she goes to my dentist.
  10. We sent our I-751 to CSC in on September 20th they received the 24th. USCIS notified us of wife's biometric appointment for November 15th and it was the day before her appointment that it showed up online. Then we were notified December 11th of our card production order. It seem to work fine for us once they inputed our original informaton as to receiving our request for removal of conditions which we received October 15th online.
  11. That is wonderful news, congratulations, well be in China also in April only for three weeks though.
  12. CSC is moving very fast, they sure surprised me, Good Luck, your on your way, it should not be long now. It sure is a great feeling.
  13. Well the journey is almost over, my wife's 10-year green card production was ordered December 11, 2007. She has mention she would like to take the citizenship test in 2008/2009. I owe a lot of thanks to all here at the Candle who have a wealth of knowledge and information and are willing to share and good luck to all of you still in the process. Application Type: CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED Current Status: Card production ordered. December 11, 2007 Had Biometrics 11-15-2007.
  14. We found ours at a Chinese Asian market, they put it in an oven to dry it then slices it up with a cutter. It was Wisconsin ginseng.
  15. I have heard that there are many unexplained deaths in jails and prison and when the family recovers the bodies they have been cremated. I have heard that this is done to cover up the black market on sales of human organs which can bring a hefty dollar from those in need?
  16. We went shopping in GZ last April for my wife's clothes she doesn't care for the styles and the size here, it is extremely hard to find. We are heading back to GZ this April to buy her clothes she has already put an order in for next years spring/summer wear. My wife tells me her sister who weighs about 145 is considered overweight in China. She can't believe the over weight Americans we have here utilizing electric shopping carts filled with junk food and utilizing walkers to get around when all they need to do is lose some weight.
  17. I agree with you C4, I have done it all myself and have gained alot of experience in the process. My wife just attented her I-751 biometrics on 11/15 it was very smooth lasting maybe 10 minutes. I was also able to sent up her account on the USCIS web site the day prior for future notifications. No bumps in the road, hoping to see that 10 year green card soon then citizenship.
  18. I sent my wife's I-751 in on September 20th. Received delivery confirmation they received September 24th. Received extension October 17th. Received biometric appointed notice November 2nd. Appointment date November 15th.
  19. My wife has been here in America now for about two years now, we just submitted her I-751 and got her one-year extension and now waiting for her biometrics appointment. She went to work not because she had to but because she wanted to. After attending a mostly Hispanic ESL class she had some frustration and difficulty with learning English. She then found a job working at a private college in the kitchen now going on a year and a half. This was quite an adjustment for her since the kitchen prepares meals for vegetarians and vegans, she was always use to cooking with fish and meats especially for flavor. She since has learned to prepare many dishes lasagna, couscous, frittata, enchiladas along with introducing her Chinese cooking, she loves to bake now something she never did in China baking banana nut bread, puff pastries, egg tarts, cookies, and she is looking forward to pumpkin pie this weekend. Her English has improve greatly they had a private tutor teaching and working with her on and off, and working everyday in an all English speaking environment, she is now answering the phone, reading menu's etc. She enjoys walking to and from work since the college is close by and sets her own hours. Most of the money she has earned has gone into furnishings for our home and sending it to her family.
  20. I agree just get it over with, my wife does not want to keep a 10 year green card 10 years and have to deal with the USCIS again, she is looking at citizenship in three and paying the current fee, and yes who knows what the future will hold.
  21. yeah, it's also strange to see Asian women with breast augmentation. As in the immortal words of Mr. OJ Simpson "Don't fit." My wife is amazed at all the cosmetic surgery American men and women have done, mainly the breast augmentation by women. Yes I prefer my wife natural and would not want it any other way.
  22. To me it seems to make sense to renew the old green cards without an expiration date, It will help to update the photograph and other information. The one way to get around this is to become a citizen. My wife and I are ready to submit her I-751 this September to get her 10-year green card. I was talking about this with her that we will not have to deal with the USCIS for 10 years and she made the comment that she would like to get her citizenship after she has been here three years. I was a little surprised, but I believe it is because she has acclimated herself very well to America and see the benefits of this.
