  1. I haven't canceled yet. I did not meet another lady in China, but I would look again after the healing time. I don't live in China but have been there several times and just love the traditions and culture more then the US. Finding a single one here in the US would be next to impossible. sorry to hear that this is on the table for you... this doesn't answer your question, but -- if you did cancel the I-129F and, assuming you haven't yet met another chinese living in china, you would actually seek one out and intentionally walk back into this visa and immigration process? wouldn't it be easier to find a chinese lady (or other) who already lives in the US? note this question may not apply if you live in china right now again, sorry to hear of the tumult.
  2. Our I-129F is not even approved yet and it is a rocky relationship. If we decided to cancel, how does that work, just send a letter in requesting to cancel? I will need to take time to heal, but if I found someone down the road, how long do I need to wait before I even think of filing for another beneficiary. Thanks
  3. Okay, talk about change of plans. She just told me today that she quit her job and will take a week break before looking for a new one. Then to top that off she wants to move to a smaller place to help save money (BTW, she's not very good at that). What to do, what to do. Is this unstable or just a plain case of "I don't know what I want out of life"?
  4. Not alone on this one. I plan ahead and sometimes months ahead. She'll call me about an hour before she gets off work and tells me that she will be online late to chat 'cuz she's going into town with a friend, or she will visit her aunt. Everything is on the fly.
  5. She can dalay to mail her P3 and in this way she will reschedule the interview. I am just wondering how long it takes from sending out P3 till P4 to use as a guide.
  6. I am not sure if I can ask this question in this part of the forum . . . Is it possible to reschedule an interview? Looking at the timelines, if she gets it for Nov or Dec and she can not make it, can she reschedule for Jan or Feb? Thanks
  7. I was grilled for 15 minutes once on a business trip to Canada where there was obviously no point at all to the grilling. They periodically retaliate for real or perceived transgressions on the part of the American border agents. It has nothing to do with it being "difficult" to enter Canada, although it may very well be difficult for Chinese citizens. Wow, don't get me started on grilling. Back in '92 I went into Canada for the first time with my 1st wife for a honeymoon. They asked us who we are, where we are coming from and what we will do in Canada. Then they asked where I was born. Oooops. I should have lied. I said I was born in England. The pulled me off and walked me into the office. I was there for 4 hours trying to explain that both my mother and father were americans and he was in the Air Force and was stationed there when I was born. They asked me all kinds of questions. I almost didn't think I was going to be allowed in the country. I am going to forget the wishful thinking about having her come over for a visit and just wait it out like everyone else.
  8. I know getting a tourist VISA to the states is almost impossible but my step mother lives in Canada. Is it easier for her to try to get a VISA to visit in Canada. We are still waiting for NOA2 so I don't know if that will do any harm if she left China for 2 weeks? Thanks
  9. Must be catching. She told me this morning that she also had a dream and got her VISA and was just waiting for me to come scoop her up.
  10. I know every case is different, but when I see some people getting NAO2 in as little as 45 days and others as long as 190 days for K-1 I am sitting on pins chewing my fingernails. What do you do to help pass the time. I am a little lucky that I have been very busy at work (almost 14 hour days). I should get back to studying my chinese, but when I listen to my MP3 lessons it makes me homesick for her even more.
  11. You didn't mention whether you are filing K1; but your reference to the I-134 makes me think you probably are. When it comes to K1, remember to focus on the fact that it is a FIANCEE visa. The primary focus of the assessment is on whether the USC and Beneficiary are able to clearly prove that they have: A BONA FIDE RELATIONSHIP.... That has nothing whatsoever to do with whether someone has given their partner money. All the USC need do is to prove that their income is 125% above the published poverty guidelines for at least two years. If you've got that, then the financial part of the visa process is complete. If you think about it, someone that makes 125% above the poverty level, isn't making a helluva lot of money, but yet, it's the US government that established those guidelines, and that's the sum total of what you need to prove financially. I don't recall seeing any denials because the USC didn't make enough money. There have been plenty of people who knew in advance, that they didn't meet the guideline. The US government even goes so far to provide a clause for the USC to get another person to be a co-sponsor for their application. So, it's not about the money; except perhaps in the mind of the person getting married wondering whether they can swing it on a financial level. That's a personal question between you and your partner, and should not become a part of the visa process. Focus your energy on starting a log book of your day to day interactions with your partner. Take lots of photos of the two of you being together when you visit. Keep receipts of plane tickets, and receipts from restaurants where you've taken photos together. It's not about what you buy your partner, but it's about whether you guys talk on the phone, visit one another, go places together, and have a relationship. Avoid problems with 221(g) by doing these things.... What do you mean "Avoid problems with 221(g)"?
  12. I have started my kitchen sink and have a separate folder label just "WU" so she will not show them while at the interview unless they ask if I have been helping her with support. My question is on the I-134, wouldn't having these show that you have a little extra showing that you can support her?
  13. Congrats. Sounds like everything is running smooth for you. I've sent in my K1 and I'm just doing the waiting game now for approval. We're hoping she will be here before Dec 31, but hope I'm not pushing it.
  14. How long before her interview should she get her papers from the police department? Do these need to be in the white book form? Thanks
  15. Thanks credzba for the heads up. I spent a few weeks looking at the different lawyers and asking them question till they stopped answering them until I gave them a retainer fee. Also did some background checks and looked through the BBS. I know everyone might say with all this leg work I spent I could have done this paperwork myself, but with all these abbreviations and kitchen sink list that I see through the FAQ (yes, I have read and read, but still scratch my head). It's just mind boggling. Everybody's case is a little different and I just felt a little safer if I just told them "K1" and then they say, fill this, sign here, do this. I don't think I will have a problem of the so called "not bonafide relationship" since I wrote a 2 page letter of every thing we did each day of my stay, took 50+ pics of us together (some with family) and kept every receipt, business card and even pamphlets of every place we ate, stayed and visited, and a record of your phone conversions that are about an hour long each day as of May of '08. No hard feelings Sebastian, some people like Ford, some Chevy, everyone has like and dislikes. It's just hard to hear the tone of voice from a posting.
  16. Some people have more spare time to do all this paper work and I have read a lot of the horror stories and how some of these can take 2 and even 3 years to do and many letters to the congressmen. Time, energy and the skill I do not have. I feel that a person hires an attorney when they file a divorce so why not to help with something like this. The attorney gave me some figures about the interview and other process fees, but I didn't know if I had asked all the right questions. I just didn't know I was going to get bashed in this forum.
  17. I have already paid the attorney and I-129F fees to file. My next question is how much does it cost for her medical exam, interview and any other filing fees on her end. I am not counting her travel cost, hotel stays, food or my tickets there and back and even her ticket. Just wonder what I am missing and how much it would be for each step. Thanks.
  18. I would like to be with her in GZ 1 or 2 days before she has the interview, but how much of a notice before the appointment? How much time would I have to get the ticket, book the hotel in GZ, frantically going through my kitchen sink to check and recheck every thing they might ask for in the interview. I'm chewing on my fingernails already and I just sent in my I-129F last month. Thanks
  19. I really didn't know how to title the topic line. All the papers are in the works and we are keeping our fingers crossed. I will go back to china when she has her interview and wait with her till she has the VISA in her hand. Not to put a price on love, but seams it'll be a little expensive to buy a 1-way ticket for me since I don't know the date I will be coming back and then when she gets the pink and the VISA a few days later I would need to buy (2) 1-way tickets. I think it is odd that a 2-way ticket is almost as much as a 1-way ticket. Would I go through a travel agent there, or just get it at the airport? Thanks
  20. I know that this has been asked many times before, but was just wondering how long it takes from the day of her interview and she gets her pink, when she can get the VISA in her hand. I would love to be there on the day of her interview and fly back with her. Thanks
  21. I know it is not good to ask how much a person makes or how much they send to their in-laws, but is there a percentage that I could use? I just came from a horrible divorce. I was trying to live on just 445 a month after we divorced. Now that it's over I can see my bank account finally be more the 2 digits (that includes the decimal) I'm still trying to get into her traditions, but I know it will be part of me and my extended family. We did come to an agreement. If she wants to work, even part time, she can send her whole pay check to her parents, but I will send some to them till then. Is this wrong? Thanks, Sean
