We will be arriving in Chicago next month as our POE. What is to be expected and what papers will she need to have on hand? Thanks

Anything close by the US consulate building, my room is less then a block away? It would be nice for walking distant but I don't mind taking the subway. Just getting a little bored and she doesn't want to go out 'cuz she doesn't know the area. Just wondering what there is to do while we wait for the VISA to come in the mail.

I think we all have doubt, especially since I had 2 marriages so you can see that I was walking on very thin ice and just fear going near a crack and not taking a chance again. As the time went on I felt better and her real true love has shown what a butt head I can sometimes be. I have learned a lot about myself through her.

Actually, everything I had notarized he didn't even ask for but it's not going to hurt to have them done if in doubt. He didn't even ask for the EOR which was 1 1/2 pages long and that was the shortest version I could come up after rewriting it 4 times. Did you have to notarize those?

I started a new posting in "interview results", but we can chalk up another PINK for the Aug group. Yan did great. She made a pretty good friend from 001 about a month ago and they chat everyday. She had the interview the same day. They gave her the pink and then just before everything was wrapped up, the VO said "opps, I forgot to look at his W-2", after looking at them and seeing that he didn't make enough he took the pink back and stapled a blue to it.

Here are the details: VO: Do you speak english? Yan: Yes. VO: Can I see your passport? Yan: (gives just her passport, still holding on to mine) VO: How do you know him? Yan: Internet. VO: Can I see his passport? Yan: (gives my passport) VO: When did you meet for the first time? Yan: (she gives only the first date even though I have been here 3 times now) VO: Where did you go on your trip together, can you show me some pictures? Yan: (she shows our album and explained the locations) VO: How do you communitcate? Yan: (hands over the folders with emails, chats and skype record) We talk in English. VO: (types a little in the computer) VO: Did you know he has been married before? Yan: Yes. VO: When is the divorce? Yan: (gives answer) VO: What is his job? Yan: (gives answer) VO: (type a little more, signed some papers) Ok, everything is fine, you are approved. Yan: Thank you. I really feel that we can stop worrying and our life can really start now.

I am not a religious person, but my thoughts will be for you Steve and your Mei on 31. Yan and I will still be here in GZ since her friend will have an interview the same day and since her SO can not be here (he's in the Army and stationed in Cuba right now) so we want to help her and give some support. I think we will breeze right through tomorrow. Every one knows that I got an attorney, but she was so worried also that she got one here as well. Some of the papers were doubled up on, but I used his since he also did some dups in chinese and being a sticker for detail I went with the english counterparts so that the type is the same on both english and chinese forms. BTW, I highly recommend if you don't want to get an attorney in the USA, let your SO get one here. They are on the first floor in the same building and it's only 1,000 RMB. Ask for Cai Wei Qun ²ÌΰȺ. Very helpful, knows what they are going to ask for so he loaded up the papers in order and knows english to boot. He also grilled her just like the VO would hand threw in a few trick questions. Then afterwards he would comment on her answers, like "say it like this . . . . ." kind of thing. More on the "don't give more of an answer then they need" kind of comments.

Looks a lot like the room we have also but only a single bed in ours. BTW Yang and Xia are not related, I asked and got it straight from the horses mouth. Dave and Joy need to speak up here, they had their interview today and haven't heard from him.

No, I didn't check out Yang's but told my SO about both and she picked Xia's. He owns a few rooms rooms in 2 different buildings. We are in the one with the pool :-) We have seen both and they are less then a 10 min walk from the consulate. On a side note, he is from the same home town as my SO, so maybe that is one reason she picked Xia's How far is Xia's from the Consulate? Did you check Yang's out before choosing Xia's? Thanks!

So here I sit in the room at Xia's nice clean room with a little kitchen, washing machine, living room, internet connection and a fridge for just $17 a day, not bad. Her interview is this Thur, we studied the papers lastnight, and even met a few of you yesterday at the consulate. Good luck to you all . . . . . . .

Well? how did it go? Thank you my friend, your words are gold right now. I just got off of the phone with her and she is standing in line outside of the consulate waiting for them to open the doors to let everyone in. I just hope she got enough rest last night, unfortunately her hotel room was infested with these huge roaches. How is your SO hotel? My wife will change hotels right after the interview.

Me: yes dear (thinking to myself, if it's from 001, it must be true, ha ha ha) Yeah, I have been married 2 times and I am very good at saying "yes dear", but I don't think I will ever get over the fact that just 'cuz it's from 001 it is the final word. Anything to make my little woman happy though :-)

She booked a room at Xie.

My SO is worried that since I have been divorced twice (american women) and thinks the VO will ask her why the divorced happened. She wants me to write a letter to explain in my words (and better english then her trying to explain) why the divorce happened on both accounts. Out of all the other postings I have read since I started reading this forum I have never came across this question being asked from the VO.

I am sure they are. It is still a shock to me, I didn't think she would get the interview till Nov. If it wasn't for sending the P3 to the wrong address it would have only been 5 months and not 6.

Just to make sure on any form that I fill out or other papers that I have needed to write, I use the abbreviation of the month when I can, like Aug 13 2009 so there is no confusion.

I filed for a K1 but used an attorney (yeah yeah, I know, don't slam me). They filed electronically. Look at my timeline and you can see how fast it has been moving along. It would have been sooner but GUZ sent the P3 to the wrong address and after a month it was cleared up.

What you are going through is normal, everyone does it. Check and recheck, check again at the hotel, check again while waiting in line . . . . BTW snitless is slang, not found in the dictionary, but I like it. We use "swag" and "guesstimate" a lot here in my architectural firm.

I know what you mean about all that traveling. My So had to go through so many hoops. She is lucky to have a lot of class mates and old friends in so many diff places that she has been able to keep in touch with over the years. Every time she stayed somewhere for the night she would text me the number of her friend so I would be able to call her without the extra long distance on her phone. So it worked out pretty nice that I also have all her friends numbers now also, ha ha ha
