  1. Don't feel bad, they did the same thing to us, now we have to get the green card before we can reapply for the ssn.
  2. Not if his handwriting is like mine. I will be attaching a 2nd "typed" sheet. Try writing by hand in the little box: Lucky Treasure Specialized Child Photography Center City, East Imperial Flower Park Store 6 Longgang Disytict, Shenzen, China
  3. Bummer, they want to charge for it, but I have the full blown adobe with all the bells and whistle, but can't find where I can resize the text within the field.
  4. Thanks, I forgot about the example form.
  5. Why would they ask for the same number 2 different says on the same form? Top says "File Number" Bottom says "Alien Registration Number"
  6. Top line upper right. What is the "File number". I don't think it's the "Alien Registration Number" since it is asked for at the bottom.
  7. How do I change the font size in the spaces. My attorney filled out my K-1 visa, but I am doing the AOS. They were able to make the text smaller in some spaces then others to fit it all in.
  8. You have a point. I did think about filling it out and sending it in anyway, just felt overwhelmed with so many other papers, but I think it's just something as simple as copying info over from the other forms to the I-131.
  9. Since I am filling out the forms for my SO, should I put my name and sign at the bottom where it asks "signature of person preparing form", or is this more for the attorney?
  10. I think you might have misunderstand the question. I wasn't asking where to send the I-765. There is a line that asks "which USCIS office". Shortly after sending out this post and rereading the WHOLE form rather then by column, it is a question that is continued from line 11. So since she has not applied for employment before I would fill in the rest N/A. I will be filing the I-765 with the I-485 but will not worry about the I-131 since we do not plan going back to china for a couple of years or even visit the neighbors to our north.
  11. The form asks "which USCIS office" and "results" Not sure what this means, but think it has something to do with asylum so maybe need to put N/A? I looked at the sample form but they are blank.
  12. Congrats. I am just starting to fill out the papers for her AOS. Regarding rings, try looking at your local pawnshops. We found a nice set for 1/4 the price of new. Her ring didn't even look like it was even worn.
  13. Does anyone have a number for our section of the government regarding going past the date AOS? Our I-94 is set for Dec 7 and I think I will end up a few months past that. Also wondering if she can go to work after getting her SSN but before getting a greencard? Thanks
  14. Have a question regarding line 3. We filed K-1 and married on the 16th this month. Should I pick "legal alien allowed to work", or pick "NOT allowed to work" since we still need to file AOS?
  15. How do you obtain a work permit? I thought you could work after getting a SS card.
  16. She had asked me once, "why do american's have a middle name?" We had first decided to not change her name but after she had asked the question, I answered her question with another question. "How would you like a middle name?", so now her last name will be her middle.
  17. I just printed out 3 for each month. Remember to read them first!
  18. Links did not work. I also have a diff address now, but I gave them the new address at the POE. You can also use the "change of address" from the Post Office so if something "does" get mailed to your old address it should still arrive at your new address.
  19. The only deadline for a K-1 is to get married within 90 days of entry. 5-6 months for filing AOS is not a problem, but you will need to understand that your wife will not be able to work or travel outside of the US until you have DHS authorization. I knew she would not be able to work or travel oustside the US until then, just didn't know if I would run into problems with the gov. by filing later.
  20. I read in the FAQ that AOS should be filed ASAP after marriage, what happens if I can't file for about 5 or 6 months later?
  21. I need a little clarification please. She doesn't want to become an american, she just wants to be legal to work a part time job. I'm trying to follow along with other postings but I see I-485, I-693, I-765, I-131, I-1485, I-864, G-325A, I-94, I-90 (a whole alphabet soup, eh?) and I though the hard part was over trying to get her here, when does it end???????
  22. I have heard that some people have had some delays in getting the SS card. I didn't want to take a chance and we decided to get married first. Michigan will allow her to marry without a SSN.
  23. At what point does she even need shots? We just arrived here in the states and we will get married next month and apply for the SSN the following month but she keeps asking me when she needs them.
  24. I wrote a very simple and short letter. Just mention dates married and divorced and why we divorced, and that was it. Since I was married twice and they both only lasted less then 7 years (one was 7 years, 7 months and 6 days . . . talk about your 7 year itch, ha ha ha). I explained it to her if they should ask but had the letter in the back of the kitchen sink if she had to give it to them. They only asked "did you know he was divorced" and she said "yes" and that was all they asked regarding this matter.
  25. She has only been here for 1 week and 1 day but one thing is she loves shopping, and that even goes for garage sales. "honey, what is this, do we need this, is this a good price . . . . they have a nice house, how much do you think they paid for it . . . . " and on and on and on . . . . Aaaah that is what we were looking for. You do have some other very good views on how a marriage should go as well. By-the-way I apologize if you perceived that I was calling you any kind of name. I meant it more of an adjective than a noun. Larry
