  1. Well I hope that it si n't more than 8 days because if it is more than 11 days to delivery then I will have one very unhappy SO but I should look at the Bright side I will be over there in 20 days if I have to Over come anything and I can hand deliver this stuff directly to the GUZ offices 163013[/snapback] Don't you give this stuff to your SO in case the VO asks for it??? They usually don't look, except cursorily. Don't send anything to the consulate unless asked to do so. (Oh - I see the "overcome" now)
  2. RELAX! That is exactly what I did (all by myself) - the custom's declaration should AVOID the customs hell.. Mine took right at 5 days to get to Yulin, Guangxi. Remember that you are NOT sending it to the consulate, so there should be no delay, especially under 5 pounds.
  3. Email to your SO, if she has access to a good printer. My P4 package to my SO took about 5 days to arrive by EMS. Be sure to get a signature and keep copies.
  4. I have the same problem. I had wanted to give her signs that she could show to anyone, who could then simply point her in the right direction (I know the Chicago airport well enough to do this). She didn't want to do this, so I was planning on meeting her in Los Angeles (cheapest and quickest combined schedule). But then I found a Continental flight from Beijing to Houston, which changes "equipment" in Newark - same flight, different plane - which I think will cut the mustard. She can fly on Thursday Dec. 1 while I am at work, and be here Thursday night. Otherwise, Friday would have been a full day of travel for both of us (my only day of vacation left). If she does have to go through an airport by herself, be sure to get a map of the airport to help guide her where she needs to go.
  5. Continental has at least one direct flight from Beijing to Newark.
  6. No - I'm sorry, Fred! You need at least 2 blue thingies before you can start thinking about that!!
  7. I think you said it there, Jim - the philosophy thing IS the religion.
  8. Texas will, however, allow you to take a verbal written exam with an interpreter.
  9. There are recent threads on this that will give you specific information - send them a letter of invitation. They will contact their local embassy/'consulate to apply for a B2 visa. They will need to prove they are financially able to make the trip, and show strong enough ties to China to ensure there return - other children, a home, job, etc. The visa is good for six months. I have heard that you do NOT want to extand it, since that may make it more difficult to get another one. It is only for specific relatives - parents, but not siblings maybe. I'll try to find one of the threads and post a link. US Embassy B1/B2 the Voice of experience
  10. You are spending entirely too much time here. Get Busy!! Congratulations!!
  11. A good friend of Mr. USCONGUS, our occasional vistor. and I think after reading other threads that I will include a letter explainging where any deposits I made to my bank account (for money to send to her) came from, and where they went (to her).
  12. I'll second Dan on the heat question. Go gas! Where's the chef when you need him?
  13. The GUZ spoke: Dear Petitioner, Thanks for your email. The child will not need to come to the interview if he does not go to US this time. The U.S. Consulate General Guangzhou Immigrant Visa Section wishes to answer your questions and process your cases in the most timely manner possible. To help accomplish this goal, the Immigrant Visa Section asks that inquiries about cases that have not yet been interviewed be directed . . . . .
  14. If it was sent from the Chinese benificiary to the American petitioner, it would show up on his bank statements. This might be interpreted as the benificiary paying the petitioner to marry her/him and then get divorced after the green card is received. Try to document the source of the money as best you can.
  15. Are you the beneficiary, or the petitioner? Which way did the money flow - from the US to China, or from China to the US?
  16. We should all think of those who are stuck in some sort of a hell in the process. It IS hell to have your life held hostage by some bureaucrat. Best wishes - hang in there.
  17. Yes - it almost always works out that the beneficiary is given the visa. If they are looking at deposits your husband made, he can document the source of those funds (if it was not you). Or a written explanation of how much and why the money was sent. It is VERY frustrating to have some visa Officer tell you that your marriage is not real when you know better. Best of luck to you both
  18. You're still a week ahead of us, Fred. Way to Go!! http://bergoiata.org/gif/Feu4.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif
  19. The picture I have is that, when you call the DOS helpline, someone enters your information on a computer terminal. It accesses the GUZ data, exactly like would need to be done for a web page. To put it on a web page would require html access. We know that some of the GUZ computers are connected to a server in DOS (Washington DC) from the IP addresses.
  20. But DOS is already accessing GUZ data over the network - I would think they could make something similar available on a web page quite easily
  21. http://bergoiata.org/gif/Feu4.gif Another November interview!! http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif http://tinypic.com/erfmns.gif Congratulations!!!
