1. When I used the term "hoot" I was thinking "great" and there was some humor in this type of "great". This is so funny. I have never had a discussion like this. I guess I need to get accustom to it. WOW. Maybe some one can help us out here.
2. A "hoot" is good thing. It is a compliment. Sort of like "great" but better I think. I have never tried to explain "hoot" before. Thank you........when my wife gets here I will remember to not say "hoot".
3. Happy Happy New Years. Good for you.
4. tigress........your a hoot. That is a good thing in middle America.
5. Congratulations!!! Happy New Year.
6. You have undertaken a great journey. Stay close to CFL. Welcome.
7. Concerning the timelines and the movement of on a filing, I remember the website saying a particular date was being worked and I had already received a response from them. I knew then they were not to be taken seriously in regards to a certain date is being worked. I had always heard K-3 visa would come before the other. Something to keep in mind though, with the CR-1 you get a green card and ss immediately. I can’t change what I have done but having the green card and ss in hand sure sounds nice.
8. Welcome to CFL. Your in the right place for answers concerning immigration from China.
9. I had to smile when I read your post. I too was taken back when the “grand gift” was brought up. When I was first asked I refused. Flatly. I explained I understand that this is a custom in China but I’m not in America. I am in America. After a day or two I sent the money. I believe it is just a difference in customs. I would hope you would honor your wife and her family to the extent you can. Diamonds are not less expensive in China. There are many things more expensive in China. I hope the best for you and your wife.
10. I have thought of this also. I agree if you don’t provide the information your application would be denied or go in some direction you don’t want it to go. I think this is why you hand carry financial documents to the interview process. If asked during the interview process the documents are shown and then given back to you after they are glanced at. Since we want something from immigration they get to make the rules. It’s great you are this far along in the process.
11. The fact that you dont have emails and other things the rest of us do should not be a problem. I would suggest you focus on what you do have and make it convinceing. I have heard photos of SO family, with you, are good. Your names on joint accounts would also be good. If you dont have any open them. Document somehow what you have done in the time you have been married. Photos of a wedding in the U.S. ought to be great. Yours is not a common situation. Good luck to you.
12. Alec no one can tell you when or if you will receive a visa. Relax.
13. I would trust what Frank said and file again in Hong Kong. You'd be together sooner. Check out the time lines of Hong Kong people.
14. Welcome to CFL. Your in the right spot if you are involved with immigration of a loved one from China. So much good information available. Pass the popcorn please.
15. Common Sense. Very good. What a concept given we are dealing with 2 different governments and people thrown in on top. Thank you Don. It just made me laugh and I needed that. Profile amended.
16. This fee is IF you want to go back proceed with the NVC processing of your CR1... i think you want to NOT pay this fee.. and instead file AOS here in the US.. which means building up the petition , etc... 184405 I yield. I dont know what I want to do yet. This morning I woke up, read the posts and decided to pay the money and go back to Guz. Tonight I dont know enough to make a decision. Ling is going to be here in 2 weeks and I will make a decision on what to do then. I feel like I started all over again.
17. I just woke up to the fact the journey continues myself. Getting our wives here is just part of the journey so your question hits the mark with me. Keep reading. 2.5 months............that is the best I have heard of ever anywhere. Good for you.
18. http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13283 183106 PJ. No 1 person. Cool. You have been involved for more than 13 years. The changes you must have seen over these years must be dramatic. Thank you for staying involved. Until I saw this post I had never thought about the possibility of there being a No. 1 person. Everything has a start. I cannot address the legal question concerning this awful 3rd party correspondence because I don’t know anything about it. I have thought about the question though. My only objective in being involved with Guz or any other immigration office is to get my wife here. Since I don’t have any control over what some small minded person might say about my wife. I hope I would respond in this manner if this horrid 3rd party correspondence had come up. I hope I could look at the person and have no reaction at all. Poker face deluxe. I hope I could respond with, “Ok. What do I need to do to deal with the correspondence?” Sure it would feel like someone sticking a needle in me but NO one would see me sweat. I would like to go and do a dance with a key on this person’s car. After a few minutes I would remember my objective is to get my wife here. Ok………what’s next? I want this little Chinese woman in China to be a little Chinese woman in America. Smiles Gene
19. Thank you so much Richard. I will tell you what my thoughts are. Last night I read your post and it showed me the direction I want to go in. I must admit I really thought this immigration process was mostly over once our wives received their visas. I now know how wrong this assumption was on my part. Had I stayed involved with cfl I would have known this. I have spent a good bit of time and energy on finding ways for Ling and our son to be able to participate in American life once she gets here. David said something to this effect in one of the emails we exchanged, “The Chinese people are not idle people.” I so agree with this. Ling is in Beijing right now, the 19th, receiving an award for the best drama teacher in all of China. Her students are being taped so the performance can be shown on CCTV during the Chinese News Year celebration. I can not understand why this award would be given to a teacher when she is going to get on a plane and leave the country. My point in bring all this up is only to explain Ling will not be happy very long hanging around our house and working in the garden. She has never even worked in a garden. In your post yesterday you wrote…….My wife got here in July as a CR-1, got her GC and SSN in less than a month. Already has a job and her first driver's lic. She is on my insurances and is eligible for in state tuition……….This is what I want for Ling. This is the direction I am going to go in. These are symbols of participating in life to me. At this moment I’m not sure how to get to this done exactly. I’m leaning towards Ling returning to Guz for the interview. I just got a chuckle. I can see myself explaining to Ling once she is here, “Ling you need to go back to China.” She hasn’t left yet so it seems absurd. We are K-3 so today or tomorrow I will send the $70. and get this process started. There is an AOS office in Oklahoma City so this is not a problem. John helped me with the local ins and outs of Biometrics once they get here. I thank each of you. Gene
20. Mat you make me smile. You have some months of waiting you did not put in your list. You have evertything you will need for the next few months. Get married first Mat and then all the documents you have will become clear. I remember thinking the same way. I GET TO SAY THE WORDS..........Have a seat Mat.
