  1. Welcome to CFL.. You will find this forum much more helpful than the one on Visa Journey.. Over there you will find more confusion and misguided answers . This forum is much better structured with alot of people who have gone exactly through what you will be going through..read the FAQ section and use the search function alot.. Most if not all your questions have been asked before but feel free to post a question when your not sure or cannot find the answer yourself....
  2. Ours was the plastic with elastic band that I mailed to her from Office Depot here in the states.. we also used clear pages for the papers and photo pages as well
  3. My SO took a plastic accordian type folder with all our papers and photos in them along with 3-4 bound books of ICQ messeges,. She arranged the binder in a way that was easy for her to get to the most common asked items.. Letter from your work, I-134 and tax papers, photos, emails/letters/cards. originals were in the back.. The officer only asked to see one paper from her... my letter from work.. You dont want manilla folders where things can fall out if she drops the folder. Her binder was purple too... not clear... purple is her favorite color...
  4. I was told by my SO that I cannot Die before her so problem solved.
  5. My SO told me last night that her VISA packet she was handed after she picked up her passport and Visa has a 4-5 inch cut along the side of the sealed envelope in which she can see inside what some of the papers are. She told me that it looks to be cut along the side and that the other packets she saw in the office also were this way.. Did anyone else recieve packets with similiar slit opening along the side?.. Will they think she tried to open it and look at the papers? I hope this wont be a problem for her... She said not to worry about it.
  6. Called my ever so HAPPY SO last night at 10pm to find out the GOOD NEWS!!! SHE PASSED with flying colors!!!!... She told me it lasted about 30sec to 1 minute!!...She was asked only 6 questions and asked to see only 1 document.. here were the questions asked. Who is your petitioner for your visa? Where does he come from? What does he do for a living? How long has he worked at his job? Do you have the employment letter from his company? How do you two communicate? She showed them my letter from my company I work for.. Thats the ONLY paper the VO wanted to see... Nothing else...MY SO speaks excellent English so that was never a problem. She said she was all SMILES when the officer told her she passed. As for the Communist Party concerns.... Never brought up from the officer even though she answered YES on the GNI-2 form in both places. But she did write in small print next to her answer, "for work" My advice to all the newbies....Prepare your P1 well...include LOTS of photos in your initial filing.. inlcude a lengthy letters of how you both met and how you plan on getting married.. I really believe that your P1 plays alot into their final decision... Now she celebrates and decides how long she will stay and visit family before coming home.. I will meet her plane in California when she does and we will both fly back to Texas sometime in October.. By the way, my poor SO had with her about 8lbs of ICQ messeges, phone records and phonecard records, another 100 photos, a dozen emails, a few cards, tax papers, birth papers, divorce paper from myself. etc, P.S. They never asked to see my passport from her and I wasnt there with her. I couldnt be there with her for the interview because of work.
  7. The one thing that sticks out for me is that she has mentioned a few times that she never wants me to leave her ever...Even when I die..In fact she said I cant Die before her..and if i did. she would want to die with me because she said if I was gone she would have no reason to live any longer...So I guess I have to be immortal now....
  8. China's customs is a nothing like they make you believe it is on all those travel websites.....Ive had connecting flights where theyve x-rayed my suitcase but didnt bother with my carry-on bag...Ive even asked them if they need to x-ray my carry on and camera bag and each time they said no...guess youd never put something illegal in a camera bag or carry on... Like the others, unless your sweating perfusely, waving a huge flag or down right ask them if theyd like to check your luggage,... they wont bother with you.. in fact each time Ive traveled through Beijing airport.. ive NEVER seen a customs officer at any of the red/green lanes.... we all just walk right in .....now entering the USA is another story.... lets just say its a good thing that shoe bomber wasnt hiding it up his pants or we'd all have to strip to get into the country!
  9. Doing a search for airline tickets will bring you up alot of past discussions on this topic...but to save you time....goto http://www.elong.net for cheap local and international flights...
  10. CONGRADS!!!!!!!!! AND NEVER ASSUME YOURS WILL BE AS EASY AS SOMEONE ELSES. BE PREPARED TO THE BEST THAT YOU CAN.
  11. and dont forget the most important is to wear a smile!
  12. David , so glad your SO passed with flying colors!!! Candle sure has been quite since youve been gone...But a transition seems to be happening.. Like a graduation...comes new blood to the forum.. Congradulations!
  13. youd better not lie on the GNI form... question 7 reads as follows.... list all organizations or political parties you are now or HAVE BEEN a member of or affliliated with since your sixteenth birthday .inlcude political, social. professional, voctional organizations.... If you were a member and quit, youd have to answer YES to question 7. If your still a member, again youd have to answer YES to this question... Next you will have to answer question 17 C....again it asks if you are or at any time have been associated with any totalitarian party.....How can you advise anyone to answer NO when clearly the answer is YES for both questions.... By answering NO to both you are hoping that they wont catch you in a lie.... Its not a risk my SO and I are NOT willing to take. we will answer truthfully and feel that this wont ban her from the States...but being caught in a lie .WILL ! Goodluck for those who want to gamble with their futures... Unfortunately it DOESNT ask you ARE you a member on this form that will be signed....That question is asked on a form that is no longer used....Hank is right only if you were asked ARE YOU a member...
  14. the statement in P4 asks if you ever WERE affiliated with a totalitarian party... in which she will have to answer YES....so even though she has quit she still will have one question that she will to answer yes... I wouldnt worry over it.. just be prepared for any questions that they might ask about it or be prepared to have to file a wavier later.. Hopefully this wont be a problem... have her prepare a written statement just in case and dont volunteer any information about this. just have a statement ready in case they ask for one.
  15. I dont think so.. The name check is a government check. I wouldnt worry about it.
  16. last night my SO asked me how much money can she bring back with her to the usa? I'm not sure....What is the limit?
