  1. Cost is really up to you...You can have a small simple wedding at the Justice of the Peace for 150.00 or a huge wedding with everything for 10 million.. Average price for a small chapel wedding is probably 1500.00....I know a friends small wedding with one hundred guests at a old victorian house cost him 1600.00 do a search on google for wedding chapels and the state your planning on having it in... Las Vegas offers packages from 125.00 to ??????? I saw some for 8,000 as well.....My situation is I dont expect either parents to pay for the wedding...tradition or not... My SO only request is that we have flowers.... If you plan a huge wedding, catered with lots of food and liquor and flowers, then 15,000.00 is realistic..
  2. For those of you with SO's interviewing soon and for those in the future.... have your SO use this site to book her flight... http://www.elong.net one way Beijing to San Fran is 300.00 in October during the week...... A big savings from the american travel sites..
  3. My question is if your SO takes on an american name, will she have to have it legally changed for her social security card, drivers license? I heard that some companies might descriminate those with foreign names and that when they see one on an resume, they get tossed.. Now this could only be a low percentage or rumor.. with no truth to it.. just something I heard recently..but even so, say she wants an english name... dont you have to make it legal?
  4. I would still prepare some type of letter, written in both english and chinese, explaining why she joined.. Hopefully you wont need it and I wouldnt volunteer the letter either..just have it with you in case they ask for one... thats what we are doing....
  5. My SO has 2 reams of messages from our talks, just in case she gets the dreaded slip...shes also packing about 200 photos and 40 pages of phone records along with 20 emails. She needs a pack mule but that wasnt allowed through customs B)
  6. Most of you know that my So is facing the same delema in two weeks..She also went the the CP leader at her work to ask to quit.. He told her there were two options she could take.. One, put in writing a statement wishing to quit which would then be "discussed" and a decision made.. She stated that he seemed to imply that this would not happen easily and that they could harass her into changing her mind...She mentioned the word "threaten"..... he also sugeested that she simply not pay any more dues and this would automatically kick her out...I had prepared a letter for her and since this auto term falls within the contract termination of her job, we didnt change it any...I told me So , that if asked just explain or give them the letter.. but dont volunteer any info if not asked.....here is the letter we have prepared... oh and should we run into problems requiring a waiver to be filed...I have send her the papers and a check for 250.00 for the wavier but not to mention this to them as well... One note.. I do not suggest getting this noterized as most chinese government officals might have a problem with it. The reason I joined the Communist Party was solely for the pupose of obtaining employment. When I was attending Xiamen University, My graduating classmates told me that I needed to join the party if I wanted to get a high paying good job in my field of expertise. Only those students with membership would be the ones that got excepted to the best work organizations..My present job does indeed look at membership as a way of determining the best applicants for the job to hire. I do not believe in the ideals or beliefs of the Communist Party and will no longer be a member of the party once my contract with my current employment is over. 7. Help? allow me to help her??? Give me a break... My SO expects me to do ALL the cooking and cleaning and chores... Since Ive done all this for the past 7 years.. she tells me Im a good house husband.....I dont mind doing the cooking or cleaning as long as she helps somewhat... I dont want a woman cooking for me...and id feel bad if she did all the cleaning..This wont be a problem since she doesnt want to or know how to use a laundry machine or dryer or vaccum....
  8. Go by your lawyers advice. Do not give them any reason to reject your paperwork.. Two weeks isnt that big of a delay...It could be two weeks now or longer if they deny any of your paperwork.....
  9. My SO speaks excellent English and technically Im part chinese. My great grandmother is 100% chinese. Even so, alot of american girls dont appreciate what they have in the USA.. Foreign women appreciate America more..have better values, morals, respect, love, commitment to a relationship, etc than most american girls.
  10. No Need for I-134 at the Fujian Hospital I posted before....Wasnt even asked for.
  11. Yes she recieved 3 shots although when she first asked about them durting her phone appoinment, they told her that she didnt need them and that she would be wasting her money.. I told her that she will need them later once shes here in the states and that it was cheaper to get them there... she told them she wanted the shots and they gave them to her. at the hospital in Fuzhou
  12. My SO likes pop music, dance and just recently expressed an interest in Country and western... Not my cup of tea and I have lived in Texas for 25 years...... Houston, we may have a problem!!
  13. Both trips to China, I brought lots of candy, crackers, oatmeal... after having my passport checked and stamped was allowed to enter with no problem.. Never saw anyone opting for the "Red , I have something to declare line"... in fact both times, there were no officers even at the desks by the declaration lines.. We all walked into China with no problems....The easiest customs ever... Now coming back into the USA, prepare for that oral cavity search! and take those shoes off
  14. Above those lines in large type It reads DO NOT WRITE BELOW THIS LINE.... Im hoping that means the VO will fill this in if needed because we answered YES on the last set of questions pertaining to the communist party... She did write in small text next to the Yes answer why she answered this way but we didnt fill out the sentences you are refering to because it says not to write below this line.
  15. You typically will only have 5-10 minutes with the VO.. The interview will take place in front of a bank teller type window.. You will have to pass everything under a sheet of glass in front of the VO. Its best to keep the photos loose to hand to the VO...From what ive heard.. they will give them back to you..
  16. Yes, Bloodwork typically takes 2-3 days to get the results back. Any vaccinations you might wish to have will take longer for the hospital to create a vaccination booklet for you. You do not need the vaccinations for your Visa... But you will need them for the AOS later on... Its cheaper to get the shots in China , then the USA.. Make sure they are translated in English. The P4 package has a list of the paperwork to bring to the Medical exam...forms and financial papers/W-2 I believe are on the list of items to bring.. No photos or phone records or emails are needed at the exam.. those you will bring with you to the interview.. The intent to marry update letter from your Petitioner was not asked for at my SO's exam. I wouldnt cut it that close to the interview.. You can get the exam in done now if your SO is close to one of the hospitals on the list she was sent....
  17. Fujian Provincial Hospital #134 Bongjie St. Fuzhou, Fujian tel : 865917557768-8065 for appointments... No letter requested when compiling papers for SO Vaccinations shots from Healthcare Center of Fujian International Travel
  18. From what it sounds like, he spent alot of money at bathhouses...He should just move to China then he wouldnt have to split up his family...I dont feel sorry for him...He should KNOW better.
  19. My SO just had her medical exam and they didnt ask for nor did she bring my letter with her.
  20. Thank you all for clearing that up for me. Now the medical booklet they are giving her that will lists these shots, does this booklet need to be authenticated like the other post suggests for documents for the USA?
  21. My SO just came back from her medical exam and I asked her to get the vaccinations that were on the P4 list sent to her. I know these aren't required now but will be later for the AOS.. The doctor informed her that she only needed 3 of the vaccinations on the list and that only those three were required by the USA...I say this doctors wrong.. The list comes from the United States Embassy as requirments for residence status later on... I can see if youve had some of the vaccinations before but she hasnt....has anyone else rum into this?... I would like my SO to get them there since they are alot cheaper...I will find out which three this doctor said she only needed.
