  1. Good luck man! This type of thing is scary as hell as we all wait too damn long anyway. I will pray for your speedy turnaround...
  2. So what is wrong with 37 !!! I turned this magical age a few weeks ago... We are in our primes!!! Unlike SOME people we know..
  3. Once again, welcome to CFL. Many of us have waited a lot longer for NOA1 and NOA2. Check out some of our wait times. I know people who have waited 6 months for their NOA1 & 2. What is RFE anyway?
  4. Lumpy, itchy and churly...are those the CFL Stooges?
  5. I dated a VN woman pretty heavy for one year. She was VERY industrious...let me put it that way. All of her friends and associates expressed much gratitude to USA....and I met some cool people that are a lot of fun--especially the women. There is a place in SoCal called Santa Ana which is called "Little VN" She and I are still friends, but I choose not to associate with her. It is not that she cannot be trusted, but most of her friends who do not come from wealth, will literally do anything for money. I am sure you cannot put all VN in this category, but I have seen enough that I am very happy I wound up with it being a Chinese woman who I cannot live without. "Phun Than" and I were very close, and she would still marry me, but I value certain moral behavior and ethics far too much. No offense to anyone, but god bless anyone who is from VN who comes out with good values and true loyalty. I hope you have found one Robert, and I pray that you never see some of the things I have.
  6. Duuuudde....have you ever been to Zhanjiang or Nanning? I will have to admit that the river boat dinner in GZ is cool, so is the clothes shopping. But.... ZJ has the best food, at great prices. Some really good western/chinese places (the california cafe) and a great street by the ocean that is called (in translation) the "beer bar street"...there are also a few clubs with nightly shows--dancing, singing, music--including a periodic cover of "hotel california" and some great Michael Jackson dance impersonation (no, no 12 year old wieners!)... Nanning is almost as big as GZ, but the air quality is way better. The shopping is off the charts. The architecture is similar to Shanghai, the people are up-and-coming big city--ie, cosmopolitan without the decadence of big city folk. Once again, I am biased because I have friends and family in both places. BUT...I have been to plenty of other areas too..these just stand out as cool places..
  7. You know your chinese when.... 1) You have plastic covering your remote 2) No matter what time you call your SO, she asks if "You eat dinner?" 3) You have a cover for your tv 4) You won't lay on your bed without pajamas on 5) You won't lay on your bed with your "dirty clothes on"
  8. hablas espanol tambien? Yo aprendi dos otros idiomas antes de xuyao xuexie jungwen...hehehe...that's called Spachinglish..maybe we can start a new trend?
  9. Welcome! I have not been around too long, but I would be far more insane than I am at the present moment if it were not for this site. Check out the useful links for some great reference on the K1 process! Good luck!
  10. That's a good idea Trigg. How do we monitor this if we can get the law passed? Check for brown spots on people's faces? On second thought...I don't want to post this..
  11. I would say that GZ is probably my least favorite Chinese City. The air is just too hard to take. That and for a big city--and a chinese city--it is too expensive to get around. BUT..I do think that GZ is a great place to go shopping for clothes and zhung wo dong xi... I prefer Nanning to GZ as far as big cities go. I also like Zhanjiang, although it is only because I know so many people there---my SO's family is quite large and well established, and I have established great relations with a few..and spiderwebbing all the time. I also really, really liked outside of Chendu--Jiuzhaigo, Huanglong..
  12. Mark: You are an inspiration to me. I mean you actually made it through all this alive. It is killing me-the worrying about paperwork getting lost, the worrying about malicious people sabotaging me because I didn't pay them for help, the worrying about how long it will take...aye-oh!!!!.... I will say that after all you have done, if you do get denied, I might just have a stroke! Please let us know how it went, and how you made your presence known. (who you checked in with, etc..) I wish you and your SO the best.
  13. Oh Mr. King...why oh why would you want to give a brother hope!! I will now have a positive outlook until tuesday or wednesday..... I hope your trip to GZ goes well. GZ is not my favorite city. The air is terrible. BUT...I would gladly suffer lack of air to see my gal....
  14. Let me clarify.... If you are at almost one year, then that means I am not even close...cause I am 6 months away from you. Should I expect a four month clearance delay? Or how about a lost file? I hope yours goes quicker that it has so far!
  15. I have to say that for me, this is depressing. You are approaching one year and they are just now entering you into the GZ system. My K1 is in clearance delay (I hope mine is one of them) from NVC to GZ now, so I am not much behind you. Whatever happened to 9-12 mos????? WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
  16. Much happiness for you!! I can only hope my K1 goes through quick. Things are going slowly for me...I am at coming up on 7 months with no entry into the GZ system yet. I have seen some loooooonnnnngggg timelines and hope mine isn't one of them at the end..
  17. My K1 package (I hope it is one of the four that went our the date NVC told me they sent my package) has been in "clearance delay" since feb 6 What is the status with yours? Anybody feel like adding how long their package was in "clearance delay"? I am so lucky to have timed my NVC shipment around the Chinese NY/ Spring celebration. Can anyone say "odds of losing package"?
  18. We are planning on asking my SO's mother to come and stay with us for a few months every year to assist in the raising. We are going to attempt to get the best of both worlds--American and Chinese. My parents are within a few hours of us--Monterey at the moment and are going to be retiring to a new house in Lake Tahoe that they are building, so they will be true "weekend warriors"...and besides, I have to let them have the opportunity to spoil my kids to get under my skin (a.k.a. "paybacks a bitch!") So..we shall see. I will post in five years or so and let ya'll know. Damn Trigg! Did you say SIX KIDS!!!
  19. Check out the topic "desperately need help" It has a similar case as yours
  20. Hang in there brother! I am right with you. My K1 is currently in clearance delay--if I am that lucky. If you search around the posts, you will find many others who have had and are having it worse. Did you receive the date NVC sent it? If you know this date, you can at least find the amount of packages sent that day and if they arrived, and when. Good luck!
  21. Welcome to CFL I have used USPS with good results for packages and letters. Be careful about sending things. Letters are more apt to be received than packages. Also, if you put the address in both english and chinese, you will have better luck. Fedex and UPS do not deliver to our city. DHL does, but they are way more pricey.. there are some good posts on CFL related to this.. Just curious, when did you first mail your K1 Application ?
  22. I purchased Jialu's here in the U.S. I have done extensive searching for things like this in China and what he said above is correct. They do not have the same gem classification as we do, so you can get screwed..or not...your gamble. Me..I bought one here that I can upgrade at any time with the original purchase price going into the upgrade..
  23. All I can say is that at any given time in China, you can turn on the tv and find a program that will have a horribly costumed actor dressed with a pig mask and another with a monkey mask. But..if you drink enough pijiou...
  24. Larry, What type of work are you in? I have great interest in working in China. My education is structural engineering, I work in construction and have for many, many years. I know two US firms that that work in China taht I can work for--Turner and Bechtel, but I do not like the projects they are involved in. So...I was just curious to know if you are in the same type of work.
