  1. Jason: Your case is getting processed really fast. You are lucky. Our P3 was received in GZ on April 10. So we are a few days behind you. Some cases make me nervous, how they just sit for months on end after the P3.....
  2. Dunkin Donuts? You guys are definitely east coast folk.... Ya got a problem with Winchell's Donuts? Huh? Well, our fine police force can eat wayyy more donuts than yours can.....
  3. Oooops....my bad. I see Menxin and Jim here...What is the problem with the K3? One of the biggest mysteries is why they lag so long...I mean, you would think that people who are actually married would get treated okay.... but then again, who wants people to be with those that they love...then we would have a world full of happy people..and that is no fun..
  4. So am I the only one here whose timeline is lagging? Someone I spoke with at the consulate told me they look at the start date to attempt to keep things equal...we shall see...Now we all have the second name check to look forward to. Hopefully, we all pass quickly. I am a bit tired of waiting. Has anyone given any thought to shipping your SO's belongings from china? I have thoroughly searched--in China-and have a few reputable shipping companies. One in Shenzhen, and a better--albeit slightly more expensive--one in Zhanjiang.
  5. To tell you the truth, living in China wouldn't be so bad....I would miss my family here in Cali too much, but other than that...I could dig it.. And yes...the wonderful bureaucracy of government agency paperwork...God Bless 'em...
  6. JT, Thank you for you efforts. I wish you the best of luck.
  7. Thank you for your "heads up" on these matters King. I am always happy to read your posts. Does it seem like things will be improving, staying the same, or going to get worse in the very near future--as in the next three months? Respectfully, Rob
  8. Make some friends at the Guangzhou Foreign Language Institute. That is where I usually stay. I can't help you find any friends, but maybe someone who reads our posts can help... Good luck. Guangzhou is getting big city...and with it the prices are rising. We should get used to it. Sooner or later the Chinese will release their money from our U.S. Dollar and then we will really see the prices rise..
  9. I did a google search for this and got many websites in chinese and english. I used one to fill out our sample P3 packet...and hopefully the REAL one if it ever gets to us. I think first they have to process everyone else's who filed two or three months later than mine. They have to have some go ahead of the curve so that my horrible timeline does not look so atrocious..
  10. That is not true. Three of the four that were sent on Feb 3 have cleared. PM me and I will tell you which has not. It is probably mine--for no other reason than there is a global conspiracy against me. In any case, I wish you the most expedient of timelines. I am currently very, very frustrated and depressed.
  11. I agree with Frank. My package--after enduring a "background check/third party review" delay at NVC/Washington--was sent (according to NVC) on Feb 3 to GZ. All four packages--the standard shipment--sat in clearance delay until March 6, when three of the four were picked up. I am assuming mine to be the one still in clearance delay. Keep checking your dhl tracking numbers to see when they hit the "clearance delay" stage. If yours isn't, then it is my typical luck in the visa process that most people's get processed faster than mine. What actually scares me the most, is that this statement isn't quite true. There are some people's whose visa process is going slower....
  12. Congratulations! It is always nice to see how slow my case is moving. It is always a great treat for us on the west coast to look and see how crappy the distribution of equality and parity is in the visa process... Nevertheless, Good luck to you as you enter this portion of the process.
  13. I am with you brother! This has been the only thing--besides all the damn hours at work--that has kept me sane. I have only been waiting 7 months, I can't imagine what it's like for you. Your case is why we are trying to get people to sign our letter. The more signatures we have, the more support we will get from above. Let me know how your investigation on working in China turns out. I am interested in working there once my SO comes here, we marry, and she spends the two years it seems to get all paperwork in order. But!! If my case drags on for more than 12 months, I would consider quitting my job, selling my overpriced house and just going over to do whatever...
  14. I feel your pain. Your journey has been way too long. I hope your visa quest ends soon.
  15. One thing I keep forgetting to mention--or add to our "2000 law-abiding, taxpaying citizens" line is to ask how it would look if it read "2000 law-abiding, taxpaying, VOTING, citizens" (obviously not in capitals, I just did that because I for one can't see these tiny letters on this screen) I am sure we all remember the presidential election in 2000 that was decided by what...a few hundred votes? I am sure all of our elected officials do. How easy would it be for a person of political aspirations to speed up our process a few months to ensure some votes? I know I would be grateful and make darn sure I voted for that person.
  16. I am sending mine! Thanks to everyone for their input on this. This will not change the world, but it will let Maura know our situation--as if she doesn't already. Groups do effect changes in this country!!!
  17. Trigg: My vote is that the signature page, and the version of the letter posted on the middle of page 5 is perfect--DONE. I work on teams of architects, engineers and consultants of all kinds--much of the time there is $100's of millions at risk. There comes a point when it is time to stamp it and submit it. As is true with many of you, a great deal of my most precious commodity--time has been spent on this. My vote is now cast. You will lose my support if any major changes are made. This experience with you all has been quite amazing, there are some very talented people who show up at this web community. Thank you for allowing me to take part in it.
  18. This is the copy of the verision that was edited by a few of us, starting with Hank at the beginning of this thread, and then going through a few versions, all building off of the other. You will find me willing to sign this--and willing to make a few changes as TWYY suggests. Please let us not waste the time that went in to this by starting another letter. The letter follows: Secretary Maura Harty: I am writing to you as a member of “A Candle For Love” (CFL), a growing online community of nearly 2,000 law abiding, taxpaying U.S. Citizens. We are joined by the common bond of a lengthy and unpredictable wait to receive immigrant visas for our wives, fiancés and children. The purpose of this letter is to address a few of the current immigrant visa processing issues at the American Consulate in Guangzhou. These issues have caused unnecessary hardships for us and our families. We ask that you take a moment to read our honest and concise assessment of the current situation and that you consider possible solutions. 1) Wait Times for K1 & K3 Visas: The wait time for the K-1 Fiancé Visa and K3 Visa is among the longest in the world. Our members wait an average of 13-months without a good reason or understanding why it takes so long. We ask that you please investigate and help us to understand this situation, especially in light of the fact that other countries, such as England and Canada, are able to process visas of this type in much shorter time, typically 30-45 days. China has the world’s largest population. Is it time that a country of this size and importance has more than one consulate to handle immigrate visas? Canada has two such locations. You recently spoke in Beijing about the improvements in handling Student and business visas from China, with over 180,000 student visas per year typically processed and issued in a matter of days or weeks. Please consider the petitions of US citizens for their loved ones to be at least of equal priority as those from Chinese citizens. 2) Denials without appeal: Many of our members are being denied visas for no apparent reason. They are denied and not allowed consultation with a member of the IV Unit to resolve these denials, or to know why they are being denied. Please work to correct this situation. 3) White Slips changed to Blue Slips: There are a growing number of cases where white acceptance slips are being given to the wife or fiancé of a U.S. Citizen immediately after the interview, only to receive a blue slip the following day, and the visa denied — without explanation or consultation. Please do what you can to ensure that the initial decision remains until the visa is given. Again these cases directly affect the lives and future of US Citizens and their loved ones. These items are simply a few occurrences we wish to bring to your attention at this time. The US consulate in China is US soil. Please help to ensure that everyone who enters is treated with the basic human rights of dignity, respect, and non-discrimination that is fundamental to our way of life. We are not asking for any special treatment, just the same consideration, care and service that anyone requesting a visa in China would and should expect. Thank you for taking the time to hear our concerns. Respectfully, The Members of CFL. PS: I have forwarded a copy of this letter to my local Senators and Representative to help resolve these issues. A copy is also being forwarded to each of the consulates in China, to make them aware of the issues and hopefully they can work together to improve the service we receive. Again I would like to congratulate you on the improvements you have been able to accomplish in allowing Chinese students and business people to obtain their visas, now I hope we can expect the same for US citizens waiting to be reunited with their loved ones.
  19. My preference is not with Boba's revision. It seems to be a step backwards toward the one we revised from Hank at the beginning of this thread. You will all find me willing to sign the one that Pingme did the final revisions on--which was a composite of three other letters with a few revisions of each. I think it is page three of this thread...
  20. My case was sent on Feb3. It sat in clearance delay until March 6--at least 3 of the 4 that were sent on that day cleared--one is still in clearance delay. It seems as if the average wait is between 40-50 days between NVC sending and GZ shipping P3. There are many strings based on your question. It wouldn't take too much time to search this site to find some good recent ones.
  21. First: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! B) Yes, this helps a great deal. Thank you for sharing your experience for those of us behind you.... Best of luck!
  22. I believe the website to be incorrect. I was recently told it was thursday at 3 pm as well. Let us know what you find out!
  23. I work a ton of hours, drive in traffic to and from my house, and have just moved into a new house...in short--I have much less mental energy to devote to the letter than I feel comfortable spending. If this were a case I was handling, I would spend at least one full 10 hr day researching the issues to provide as much specific fact and data as possible. The letter still sounds too "literature" and not enough "business". I just don't have the time or energy at the moment to fight a more than likely winless battle. I have spent time and will continue to do so, and would love for us to pull together and finish this within the next few days. I know there are others that feel the same. It would be great if someone were to rewrite the numbered items. I don't mean one person take them all, but people just take one and make it a perfect paragraph outlining the problem--and maybe a concise solution if it is readily accessible. Maybe people who have experienced the problem we are referring to should write that particular item. Any thoughts?
