1. If she doesn't have the birth cert how about custody papers? In this case I would bring something that just shows the status in case it comes up. If you don't have anything, since there is no planned sponsorship of the child, just ignore it and wait and see.
2. Congratulations!!!! Best wishes to you both. Now on with life!
3. Congratulations! Now real life begins..... enjoy
4. Good point, Merc. But, it seems to have worked pretty good for other illegals. I don't think Fairbanks PD is going to get involved with immigration. Leiqin's friend tells her that he will be returning to LA. So, my guess is the FPD may just give them a few bucks and a one-way ticket back to wherever USA. I am sure this thing happens everyday - only in America, eh. 221164 When they return here they should be able to enter the mainstream Chinese L.A. life and get jobs easily. There are many Chinese restaurants opening.
5. Hank take a big breath and let it out. Now you have what they need and it is all simple stuff (except the video). Get it done pronto and be done with this. You will get the visa!
6. Congratulations!!!! Wonderful news!
7. Good luck, I hope this doesn't pose a lengthy delay for both of you.
8. Just prepare them for the exam don't confuse them with truths Dennis or you will end up in big doo doo. By the way America was not discovered because it was never lost. And the continent doesn't even give a hoot if you call it America or not. Don't be such an Animal Kingdom chauvinist
9. A great place for a wedding! I liked Yichang better than Wuhan. I wish I had more time there. Nice City. Those noodles were among the best I've had and boy do I like noodles.
10. Bad Dennis, making Leiqin worry and get up in the night to save your life
11. 11 Times only!!!!!! Who paid for that study? Gillette? I also can't use an electric without either leaving stubble or shredding my face. My wife just bought me the Gillette Fusion, works even better than the Mark III I was using.
12. Dressed well?????? I haven't been to the south but anywhere we went casual dress was the rule. Jeans and T shirts were common. In one city I was surprised by the number of women in their twenties showing the midriff and sporting tatoos. In Beijing I had to keep telling myself this isn't L.A. There were guys in baggy cut offs, oversized T Shirts and Red or Green spiked hair (Yes they were Chinese). However I did see many women in nice outfits wearing spiked heels or platforms. Older men often had on suits. Even meeting government officials in Hubei Sheng the dress was polo shirts and slacks. Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone. If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin'. Come writers and critics Who prophesize with your pen And keep your eyes wide The chance won't come again And don't speak too soon For the wheel's still in spin And there's no tellin' who That it's namin'. For the loser now Will be later to win For the times they are a-changin'. Come senators, congressmen Please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway Don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled There's a battle outside And it is ragin'. It'll soon shake your windows And rattle your walls For the times they are a-changin'. Come mothers and fathers Throughout the land And don't criticize What you can't understand Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command Your old road is Rapidly agin'. Please get out of the new one If you can't lend your hand For the times they are a-changin'. The line it is drawn The curse it is cast The slow one now Will later be fast As the present now Will later be past The order is Rapidly fadin'. And the first one now Will later be last For the times they are a-changin'.
13. Employment is working for compensation. Volunteer is not employment. However it is unlikely that your company would be allowed to have a volunteer in the office either by labor laws in your state or your company's liability insurance. Although it is too late for her to use this info perhaps it could be of use to others. During the first 90 days the K-1 is authorized to work. Few companies actually track expiration dates and some may be willing to ignore the small risk of facing fines for not getting a timely update. It is common for companies to only review expiration dates once a year. Very few have HR software that would signal an expiration date. Once the PR or EAD is issued the person can update the record. If the EAD was applied for, this usually leaves only a gap of 4-5 months. Not a major issue for most employers since it is expected the adjustment is coming. Also it is less risk and expense than facing a wrongful termination suite which might be accepted by the courts since DHS's paper work completion dates are beyond the employees control and they filed in a timely manner.
14. It mey not take that long. Like the visa process they don't give ab accurate date only an outside estimate. We had ours in about three weeks. The officiant sent ours in.
15. David she did good. Didn't you know that if you don't use insurance you can expect at least 50% off for most medical services? How did you manage before you were under the protection of a Chinese wife?
16. Enjoy it while you can guys. My first trip to Japan was in 1969 and it was like the 40's 50's. An agrarian society quickly moving to the cities trying to catch up with the U.S. By 1980 it had caught up and was soon to pass. China also will change quickly. In fact it is currently regarded as changing much faster than Japan did. One nice thing I remember on my first visit was that none of the friends whose homes I visited had a lock on the door (some doors were paper). They even left doors and windows open when they went out. By the 90's I didn't know anyone who didn't dead bolt their doors.
17. I do the hiring at our company. There is no reason to change it while she has the PR card. That is unless she wants to. A SS card alone is not sufficient for proof of employment even for a USC. So she would still need to present two IDs even if you get the SS card changed. http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/files/i-9.pdf
18. By spell do you mean to transliterate into pin yin? Or do you want to learn the Chinese characters (HanZi)? It isn't odd that someone doesn't know the PinYin. This is mostly used to show foreigners and does not serve any purpose among chinese except as a typing input system. I only know the first part "Good Morning" "ZaoShangHao" there are many more knowledgable than I am that could supply the whole sentence. But first is this what you meant?
19. Nor do the employees as this is the way they can make enough money to send home. However the employer has more to loose because he may be facing prison time for tax evasion and insurance fraud. Unfortunately it usually takes an employee willing to come forward for IRS to investigate. Perhaps the route to take would be for several employees to report wage violations to the Alaskan Labor Board. In California I know they don't ask about illegality and they will force the employer to pay for three years back anything below minimum wage including overtime pay. The catch is the employees will have to pay taxes. Without getting into the employment side since the boss is also a landlord, there must be a housing authority yo report the heating and other conditions to.
20. Congratulations and best wishes for you both.
21. Only a copy is required. Sounds like you have it covered.
22. Congratulations to both of you! From your description of the interview it sounds like she speaks more English than the last time we were together. We are looking forward to dinner. I am sure the girls will have much to share with all that has happened since the last one. I doubt you need it but good luck with bringing your son over.
23. They might need polls conducted
24. Yeah, I told my wife we would do this in July when our son arrives and she remembered what we paid for hers and I got The LOOK. 215310 Ah you mean the one that comes with "This is not a good wok"? You could have said nothing about it and avoided THE LOOK. Now no matter how much you save on this one you wasted on hers.
