Arrived at JFK yesteday about 1.5 hours late thanks to Air China waiting in Beijing that long for 2 people - so missed connecting flight to Buffalo. Can't say enough bad about Air China right now. Did not get an EAD stamp. We had gone to the trouble of flying to JFK for this, so was disappointed. Had no problem declaring excess of $10K cash we carried back. Exhausted after hauling 6 large bags of 34 kg each at each stop and 1am arrival home

It is right over the new consulate building. Had refridge, stove, washing machine and TV. For 230 rmb a night I thought it was a good deal and very convenient. Plus Mr Yang was very helpful. He shuttered all the women to the medical center on Monday for their exams, his office was always open to use his interned and get info on shopping or the subway. Very nice man. Just have your SO join 001. He also has some 1 BR apts for less.

SO insisted we had to be the first one in line today to pickup the visa!! So we got to China post at 7:30 and waited in front of the door with the sign stating that is where to form the queue. At 8:30 they opened the door on the opposite side and 40 Chinese people raced to the machine to get their number. My SO managed to get number 3 and we were done by 9:07. But she was mad not to be #1 after waiting an hour Then went to medical center on Shamain Is to get vaccinations. Now enjoying her parents home in Yantai. Saw some writing on a restroom wall that said "Dan R was here" wonder who that could have been

We passed the interview yesterday. Jenny only got 3 questions Who filed the petition for you How many times has your fiance visited? Can I see his letter of employment? When she went to the window she announced (per her daughter in a very loud voice) that she was here to pick up her visa. Her daughter thought the VO would be too embarresed not to issue it after her confident introduction. By the way - the medical center told her the consulate wouldnt accept the forms that she had filled in on line. So we redid all the forms the night before the interview. A total waste of time since the consulate preferred the on line forms with the barcodes Will provide more details later

We went through a period like that (although no hanging up, just lots of misunderstandings). As I've gotten to know my SO, I have come to realize just how large a cultural difference there is between us. When she talks now I really have to try to not filter it through my American paradigm of how a woman should be because it is almost always wrong. Her motives are (and have always been) very pure, despite what I may have suspected. I was listening to a lecture on transference by a shrink and learned that we filter everything by our past life experience. So if you have issues with past relationships, you often transfer them to the new one. Its something we need to be aware of.

True enough. However, one of the main detriments to long distance relationships is that you are not around the person long enough to really know them. All the pop psychologists will tell you you need to be around a person 18 months before they really let it all hang out. Hence, we really are marrying by our gut and not our intellects.

Do you mean you are not ready for a big wedding ceremony or have some concerns about your relationship? If it's the former, just go to city hall and have a civil ceremony. Then do a big ceremony when you are well. If its the latter problem- 3 months is really too short to force people to make that decision IMO but thats all we got.

Yes, it is. My SO shipped some books to me mixed in with cloths to get within the weight limits. Took about 6-8 weeks

I would agree. Just redo the papers and send them in in English. When the GZ failed to put my SO's daughter in the P3 letter, we just added forms for her and sent them in and GZ corrected their information

Yes, but hopefully your SO has bought you red underwear to counteract this bad luck. I've got it (and had to wear it for the New Year Celebration in Feb),. Have to wear it for the wedding too
