It is possible that she has been here long enough to qualify under one of the previous amnesty programs if they didn't have an expiration placed on them.

Getting an attorney might be a good idea so she can check out her options. Without doing that her only other option is to live the life of an illegal.

I agree getting a good attorney is the best advice.

I feel sorry for the child to be put thru all this. In some ways he is being put thru the same thing as she was.

How did she get thru school and banks without a SS number check? Even to go to College now requires SS number.

She has skirted the issue for too long. A friend of a friend is Running Gulianni's Campaign for president. He told me there are two issues that will be focused on this year.

The economy and illegal immigration. In Minnesota, people are getting tired of all the illegals. The local police are cracking down fiercely now, and even the Governor finally is forcing local cities to comply or lose state aid.

Denver used to be a sanctuary city, but that was recently changed. Former candidate Tom Tancredo came from Colorado

and based his candidacy as a fierce advocate for securing our borders and cracking down on illegal immigration. He had no chance of winning based on that issue alone, however I am glad he at least raised the issue for a while.

Did the girl know she was illegal?

My stepmother's mother came to Ca. from Canada when she

was eight and was never documented. Her father came to the

Bay Area to work in the shipyards.

She married, raised a family of eight kids and lived off her husband's

SS after he died.

The only thing she wanted before she died was to become a USC.

She was denied because she was an illegal immigrant, however the

government never tried to deport her.

Maybe there is light for this girl.

By the way what nationality is she, has it been said and I just totally missed it?

I dont think you missed it, I believe it was not specified.

My bad... she's from Mexico originally. Was brought here when she was 2 months old.

So I'm told :V:

(She asked her manager that if she brought another SSN in, can she still work?)

What tangled webs we weave huh?

Esun, you said "she's had a baby".

This makes the baby a US Citizen...could that weigh in her favor in any way once she has confronted USCIS?

I'm in Arkansas. A whole bunch of illegals were deported from here a few weeks ago. The US born children were turned over to DHS and the parents were hauled away. Just like that..poof...state has the kids...parents on a bus...gone...Like someone else said...sympathy is waining...elections are coming...the hammer is falling....INS couldnt care less who or what gets hurt in the process...this is about numbers and elections and dollars....anyone that thinks differently is being naive. I wish this woman Godspeed and the luck of the Irish and whatever good will and fortune that she can come by. she is gonna need it. In fact, if you are taking up a collection for her legal fund, PM me..there are things that are legal and then ther are things that are right...only occasionally are they both...

So US Citizens are being imprisioned without trial by the government?

No, not imprisoned...DHS on a local level can also mean Department of Human Services...they took custody of the children until legal relatives are found or the children are placed in foster care. But, foster care, prison, cardboard box in the back corner of the basement, what does it matter when you are 3, or 4, or 8 and they take your Mommy and Daddy away...

I am absolutely against anyone coming into this country and working, living, using services, whatever they do if they didnt follow the rules and wait in line to get here. But, when you are a baby or small child or even an adolescent and you didn't have a choice cause Dad said "run this way and run fast!", I have a problem with the way they are being treated. Our system has no way to deal with the illegal adults without the illegal children becoming colateral damage...for my money, for my vote, that is the part that needs to change quickest. But, like everyone else, I have no answers...

Do you have a link to a news article on that?

I haven't heard anything about it, and even as anti-illegal as society's mood is right now, there isn't widespread political support to do mass deportations right now.

There have been very few deportations, even for those who committed serious crimes....

Normally I take people's word for it, but this claim is so far off what I would expect that I really need to see some evidence to personally accept it.

A friend from High School is in a Federal program where they track foreign criminals living in the US, and go and grab them in the morning. They are extradited to their home country shortly there after, with a case officer or two escorting the deportee.

I would say it's more than a few.

Speaking of raids, my wife had previously worked for a Chinese owned Asian Fusion & Sushi restaurant. One of the owners and at least one of the other workers apparantly were not legal. There was something going on that we still havent heard the full story on:

On one of wifeys days off, the FBI (thats how they ID'd themselves) came to the restaurant, locked all doors, and went specifically for this owner and that worker, cuffed them and hauled them away. After a couple of days, they let the worker go and required that he go back to Hawaii, and the owner was never to be seen or heard from again......I think he was sent back to China, apparantly never to be allowed back in the US.

It's not like the feds came to check green cards or W-4's or any documentation on everyone......they came specifically looking for those two.

I dont know much about work visas, but as far as we can tell, we think the worker came to Hawaii on a work visa (valid only in Hawaii?) and then came to Colorado. As for the owner, we wonder if he was involved in some kind of illegal immigration ring bringing workers here and then maybe getting paid a fee to send them to various restaurants (have seen Chinese restaurants repeatedly hire workers from LA and San Francisco). Thats all a guess. I just wonder why the FBI was involved and not ICE.

Anyhow, thats my story and I'm stickin' to it.

You must have just posted this right before I made my previous post. Sounds like the same thing.....they came in the morning just as the restaurant opened.
