VISA-Yippie !!!!

Recommended Posts

:D I'm here in Shenzhen. Laopo got visa approved on Monday, HK consulate. Going back to HK tomarrow to pick it up at the post office. I thought they Grilled us pretty good. Lot's of questions about how we communicate. I went to the window twice. First when they took all our paperwork. Then again after they looked it over. The woman who did the pre-interview seemed real concerned about how we communicate. Laopo knows a little and I know a little mandarin. I told her we use electronic dictionaries, computer software, and email translation club and that between her english and my chinese we don't hafve any problems. Then is was sit back down for about 30 minutes. Then the VO called her to the window and the preview woman translated for my Laopo. They drilled her for about 10-15 minutes. then called me to the window and said the VO would be happy to issue my wife a visa. I don't know what all questions they asked her, most of the usual and then some. I will update as soon as I can.

I want to thank everyone on this site for all the great advise and help I received here. I was fortunate to find this site before I got started. We had absolutely no paper work problems. Now for the AOS. Laopo will come to the US about two weeks after I return.

By the way, What is the best way to send or ship her personal things to the US?

Thanks again

Mat

super good news.congrats :P :o B)

Congratulations! As far as shipping, my wife and I sent 6 boxes yesterday via China Post in Chengdu. The boxes will take about 2 months to be delivered, so I'm not in a position to tell you how reliable the delivery and condition will be. The process was fairly easy though, but the largest boxes are fairly small, we went there with what we thought would be 3 boxes worth, and ended up having to repack into 6. There is a cursory inspection of contents, but we had no problem at the shipping end with sending books, tapes, and video tapes (mostly language-english and french study programs) though most of the stuff was clothing. The boxes are rather flimsy, but they tape and then strap them. It cost us about 2000 yuan, and while I know nothing about Shenzhen's postal system, I think that going to a large postal center that ships a lot internationally, which should be easy to find in Hong Kong, is a good idea.

Congratulations BIG TIMEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! It is so refreshing to see that a US Consulate takes the time to see the real truth unlike GZ. Ah yes, the real truth, a real bona-fide relationship, innocent until proven guilty. Very good Matman  May GZ learn a lesson from HK.

Godd luck to you in your new life.
