LiandLarry
Hello everyone, I am planning to go to GUZ in late April. I know this has been asked before but can everyone give their suggestions of who got them the cheapest roundtrip flight? The place I used in the past (flychina.com) wants $810 roundtrip. All suggestions are welcome! Thank you, Larry Link to comment
coulter
If you can't find cheap airfare to Guangzhou, have you considered r/t by air to HKG (which has cheap airfare), then by land to Guangzhou? Take the A43 airbus from HKG airport (follow the signs in the terminal to the airbus terminal downstairs) to Fanling (Luen Wo Hui) (HK$28). Takes about 40 minutes and runs every 40 minutes or so. The A43 starts at HKG and ends at Fanling, so you can't get lost. At Fanling, the bus drops you off at the KCR East train station. Take KCR East train one stop to Lo Wu border crossing. (About HK$25 and a five minute ride. Again, you would have to work to get lost.) Walk through passport control (Hong Kong departure, China arrival) and as you leave the building, the Shenzhen train station is on your left (a huge sign in English). The train to Guangzhou leaves about every hour, cost is less than 50 RMB and train takes maybe an hour. Total travel time from HKG by bus and train to Guangzhou is about 3 hours. Total cost about US$15. If you want really cheap airfare from LAX to HKG, consider a courier flight with Jupiter Air (http://www.jupiterair.com/courier/courierflights.html) ... about $250-350 r/t, but the JAL flight used to arrive at HKG to late to clear Lo Wu customs ... you might have to sleep in the airport until morning. rlheim
What Airport do you want to leave out of to Guz? Date will help too.Rick and Yanlan Link to comment
esun41
April is the beginning of peak tourist time in that region. It's right before the "summer sauna season" That could be tough to find a lower fare the closer the date looms... Try flying through Beijing or Taipai as a connector. Just a thought! Link to comment

Jonathan
If you go to SingaporeAirlines.com, and do a search using the option: "Flexible with travel dates" instead of "must travel on these dates"they give you different rates. I don't think it is right for them to quote different prices based on whether you really need the flight or not, but they seem to do it anyway. In order for them to not recognize you, clear you browsers cookies first, and close your browswer, and then do a search again using two different options. You'll notice they give different rates. For the lowest rate use: "Flexible with travel dates" The general rule is that the closer to your actual flight dates you book your flight, the more expense are the tickets. That is because they know you have no choice but to pay anyway. Link to comment

However, there is a practice out there where agents/consolidators buy tickets in bulk from the airlines (deep discounted) and then "resell" them. As they get closer to a departure date, there is an incentive to dump the tickets, sometimes at a very good price. Link to comment

You can only pick from departure dates Jupiter offers. Had to leave the Internatial area in Japan, clear customs, get escorted to baggage claim only to then learn there was nothing for me to courier. There's not much time between flights. And, yes, I spent the night on an airport terminal bench. No way I was paying HK Airport hotel rates. Worse, "they" will not give you the return 1/2 of the ticket until about 30 minutes before departure! Very nerve racking. Guess which seat they give you? Link to comment
