  1. If your state is anything like mine (Florida), please ask her to take off work to get her ID card NOW. With social security card, employment authorization, passport, visa, translated birth certificate, marriage license etc, etc in hand, we went off to get my wife's state ID card. We were told because she is immigrating from China, the state had to send her information to the state capitol "for processing". They said we should expect the card to arrive in the mail in "about six weeks". I think it is 3 weeks here. We are going thursday for this . So for Everyone except the city services have been nice enough to change the billing names and put her on them The city taxes and water, sewer, and trash and things, all want different things (info) IN PERSON This is going to require more days off work. things at City hall are very very very slow.
  2. The IO's can recognize if a marriage is a sham or not, they can smell a rat. That's what they're trained for. The couple have been married and together for over two years and the wife is working with the husband on disability. Those points there should be evident enough of their bonafides and I think the IO's can see that and if not, the couple will just have to try again but I don't think that will happen to them. I'm not going to scare them by telling them they need everything under the sun to succeed in this. Just go and be natural. Surely a perceptive IO can see they are for real with the few things they already have. A good IO can tell if the marriage is fake or not. I will give them everything I possibly can give them on this rRequest Of Evidence form I-797. As long as everyone agrees to put her name on everything and she gets the state ID They already have the letter from friends and the taxes and our bank accounts. That should cover the problem I hope, thanks Rick
  3. [ Rick, First off, Welcome back!! Thanks I breeze thru here every now an then to see the old names that are still here. Hong and i just went through the I-751. You got some good advise here. Hong and I were almost in the same boat as you. The only difference was we were able to buy a new car together. That helped a lot. The only other thing we had was a joint back account and joint tax records. Yep we sent all those tax forms in before and the joint bank account info too. One thing that really help are letters from family and frinds stating your marriage is true. We also sent 4 letters that were notorized from friends and family. We had no problems with this info and hong now has her 10 year GC. I also sent in a notorized letter stateing that our income together was not very much and we didn't see any reason to go into farther debt than we currently are. We were advised not to go into more debt. I guess my letter of common sense won't work for them. I have been only successful on the telephone and our electric bill on putting here name on so far. I will press the C.C. company and see if they will add her to the bill and gas bill tomorrow. We don't have kids together so that is out. Se doesn't drive so no car insurance and car loan or drivers license, will get the state ID now that I know she needs one. other than her green card. I have no proof of her living here except for mail sent to her here. I see now way that proves anything except she gets mail sent here!!?!?!?!. SO I will work on the deed thing, I hate to give up sole ownership of my house since I have owned it by myself for so long. But ilf ilt keeps here here so be it I guess. What a mess the immigration has been from the start! Thanks for giving some help here! Take care, and anything else, just shout out!! Rick and Yanlan Good luck buddy. Mike
  4. I just checked on that state Id thing, and she will get one the first day she is off. I have until Jan25 to get the info back to the gov. Thanks so much guys. The just want more than we have to offer at this time. I hope I can get all this done without problems fast. RIck
  5. Have her added to the deed, probably can be done at the town hall. http://www.askmehelpdesk.com/real-estate-l...deed-91136.html I will have to ask Bank of America then. I have had so many problems with them this past year since they bought my loan from the other company. Nothing but problems with them. Currently the say I am 3 months behind on my payments but they have cashed ALL the checks! I am fighting them on this now.
  6. I sent in the tax forms for us too,,, sorry forgot to mention that. Along with bank statements on joint account. Her medical is with her work, for herself. I have medicare. Will look into the state ID thing her first day off. My credit lis too the llimit can't buy anything on credit. I am disabeled and she is working. Thanks will try the utilities again. Adding her to the utilities is easy just call the companies, get her a state ID , buy a really cheap car/scooter for her . I take it you have life insurance/medical. cable/satilite etc together. Also you can add her to the house. Does she work ? wage slips with house address ? Joint tax returns, s. security statements have address, etc.
  7. We have a problem here. I thought we were over the hump. The house is in my name since before we were married. (What can I do?) None of the utility bills are in her name either. Have always been in my name. We don't have any loans at all. (Can't afford them) (What to do?) We do have bank account and statement together! She doesn't want a credit card. (I have 3) It seems I have no evidence this is not a sham marriage. I wrote a letter with the 1st submission of the I751, stating that we can not afford any new loans or credit cards, or any additional debt whatsoever. I guess they did not like that. Sent in the bank statement and marriage cirt. and the hand written letter. She does not drive, so no license. We tried to buy a car together, but the credit companies said no such luck. Good credit bad debt. They did the finger prints on her and Lulu. But now send this Request for Evidence on the I-751 again after I sent in all we had before. Any suggestions to solve these problems? Rick
  8. Thanks! I will tell her tonight. She is going crazy,(and driving me there) All she has is her 2 year card for ID. LAX is rough man. I sure thought they could send it to Homeland Security here in STL since that is who they are. So when have government matters not have been a pain? Hope you are doing well man!! HEY CHARLES. Yep, doing good here. Just waiting for the next step in this process. Soon, soon. We will have a reprieve for a while from the GOV. Until citizenship time anyway.
  9. Thanks! I will tell her tonight. She is going crazy,(and driving me there) All she has is her 2 year card for ID. LAX is rough man. I sure thought they could send it to Homeland Security here in STL since that is who they are.
  10. Well Yanlan lost her passport at the LAX. They have it there, BUT, they said that the only way we can get it back is to fly back to LAX and get it. I asked if they would send it to Homeland Security here in STL but they said no. I asked about the FBI office they said no. I asked about the Chinese Counsulate in Chicago and LA and the immigration office here in town and they said no. Ok I somewhat understand. Now she has her fingerprint appointment on Dec 1st and I think we need it for this. Does anyone know if she NEEDS the passport to get her fingdrprints done? She has her 2 yr green card and does not drive. Any suggestions?
  11. You should be able to get it changed without re-filing, just file I-90 for replacement, and attach evidence of correct name, such as marriage cert, copy of EAD NOA letter, ect.. I suspect code "e" is what you have to check. Fee for I-90 is $370 Thanks. What I meant was paying the $370.00 Now............ which brach of the Government is it I own now???????
  12. Looks like we will be refiling, with the new fees. The NOA I-797C for the EAD has the correct name and the issued card, but the NOA I797C for the I-485 is the wrong name. No-one caught it. Not me, or Yanlan, or the lady at the in person interview. I knew I was too damn happy!
  13. Today Yanlan and Lulu got their PRC cards. WHOOHOO!!!! What a relief until I read Yanlans , wrong name on the card. I called uscis like the papers said. The gal I got there wasn't very pleasant on the phone. What she said was I need to send the card back, (ok I know), Then I need to send in the I_485 again and all supporting documents back to the office that handled my case to prove that the Government made the mistake. Is this real? Do I need to send all that crap back to Nebraska again?
  14. Thanks everyone. It sure has been a rough ride.It feel pretty good to be able to take all this off my mind for a while. Now we can continue as a family without having the establishment on our backs.
  15. Yanlan and Lulu had the AOS interview on the 17th of Dec. Lasted about 5 min or less, each. Today I get in the email <<<Application Type: I485 , APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident. On December 28, 2007, we mailed you a notice that we had registered this customer's new permanent resident status.>>> Excuse me but I think I am going to pass out now.................................
  16. Honestly I like having Yanlan around the house, she is a lot of fun. SHE is the one that can't wait to work. I need jobs. is all I hear. I try to tell her to slow down but to no avail! Then maybe you'll be fortunate like us and have to wait 120 days and counting....... Yes, Ling has been making noises for a week now about working without a work permit. I've told her that breaking the law in that way is NOT an option in my household. Yesterday she came home from her ESL class (what a great venue for spreading misinformation!!!!) claiming knowledge of all kinds of work it is legal to do without a permit. Ling told me she needed to work so she could help pay for our food. I only said, "yes....and our house payment......" She replied, "but that is $1200 every month!" To which I responded, "but you only have to pay 1/2. And when your daughter gets here you will pay 2/3." She knows I was only teasing but I made my point. She promised me she would wait for her permit. Yea I get that from her ESL and 001. I have it all under control until these come into play. Bless her heart.

  18. Randy we gave them all the reciepts and everything. No luck. Thanks Because an application doesn't guarantee approval. We're waiting onboard the same boat--almost a full month ahead of you. 90-day window expired and no EAD in sight. Don't sprain anything twiddling your thumbs waiting....... Still standing in line bro...................................
  19. Randy we gave them all the reciepts and everything. No luck. Thanks
  20. If she doesn't have a green card, she will need EAD. Without one or the other, she cannot legally work. If she has one or the other, it's a good idea to go right to the Social Security Office and get a new social security card with the "Now valid for Work" statement removed. Technically, one can legally work before having that statment removed from the card, but many employers will object if it's there and require that you get a clean SSN card. No EAD card yet still waiting. Green card may take a few more years. Looks like they are now very back logged. Oh well, it's a shme, it was a nice job for her. Thanks dude.
  21. Yanlan started a new job yesterday. After letting her work all day, they sent her home and said don't come back until you get the I 94 translated, it is in Chinese on the back, english on the front, and stamped by DHS. And. They also will not let her work because the SS card says "Valid for work only with DHS Authorization". The company says she needs to have that changed or they will not let her work. The Bio metrics for everything has been finished and we have the reciept numbers for everything. My question is----can she work or not? If she can does she need to do what the company says she needs to do?
