What congresssman have you contacted?

Recommended Posts

Hi People,

I am in talks with my local congressman and will be metting with there assistant on monday. What i would like from all of you is the names of congressman/congresswoman that you have contacted already and are aware of your situation in detail. I would like to bring this list of names with me when i meet them on monday to show what congressman/congresswomen have been told about this. It does 2 things, show's im not just 1 guy and will add some kick in my meeting with them and 2 hopefully they will be on good terms with another congressman/congresswomen that one of you have added to this list and they will have someone to debate this with and form there own group to look into this whole situation more. thats thinking really optimistic tho, but worth a try.. so just list there name, state and district number.

Thanks!

Just a quick question, what do they all say to you? the ones you've conatacted. is it a waist of time. do they really really help?

keep adding to the list of names tho, im still haveing that meeting monday, but his is kinda a dual topic,

(1) post the names of congressmen/congresswomen youve met

(2) what have they said or done for you and can really do? was it another dead end?.....

HI. I first contacted Congressman Larson's office. I was told that the the situation in INS was hopeless and that I could expect to wait one to two years because the backlog world wide was in the millions....

I then contacted Senators Dodd and Lieberman. I was referred to their respective immigration experts. The aide in Lieberman's office seemed genuinly interested in trying to help. but both Senators know the details or at least their aides do.....

This effort seems to be repeat of Jonindenver's initiative of two days ago...

Maybe you two should coordinate our representatives...

hi.

i have worked with MA representative stephen lynch's office back before my husband even had an interview date. at that time, i was just trying to get gz to locate my paperwork! they wrote a few investigative type letters to gz, and got standardized responses. on the whole, they were always polite, but usually told us there was nothing much they could do to help.

after my husband's interview, i got in touch with emily winterson, the immigration specialist, in senator edward kennedy's boston office. it was a long time before we ever spoke to her, but i did speak many times with her secretary and other 'office'? people. depending on the person, they were somtimes polite and sometimes very rude/impatient. the only thing they did for me was to write to gz and request information about the status of my case. they continually told me there was nothing else they could do to help me, and that the delay was normal and everything would be fine.

once when i called, they told me they had 'seemed to misplace' my file.

another time, i called asking if they had heard back from gz, and they 'realized' that they had, but had not contacted me because they had 'lost my contact information.'

when my mother finally got through to emily winterson (while i was in china), she was extremely rude and told my mother there was no problem at all and basically hinted that my mother was a pain in her a**.

i wrote an email to john kerry's office briefly outlining the problem, but havent heard back.

am getting ready for another foray into the senatorial realm.

I have contacted Congressman Chet Edwards, District 11, Texas. They said there is a backlog, which we are well aware of. They told me that they sent an email to DOS and had not got a reply from them yet. When they get a reply from DOS on the status they will contact me. My wife's interview date was 19 August 02.

Massachusetts Politicians:

Spoke several times with a Molly Hurley, at Congressmen Stephen Lynch's office. There were very polite and even sent a letter to GZ for me.. This did help a little, but then they stated they could not do much else at this time.

Senators Kerry & Kennedy, never once returned any of the numerous calls or e-mails I sent to them.

I have been in contact with Sen. Richard Lugar's R-IN office. His assistant Susan has been very helpful in contacting DOS and GZ. This past friday she had informed me that my background check had been cabled to GZ and if Ella had not heard from GZ in two weeks for me to contact her and she would follow up.
