Thanks for your info about the Las Vegas Weddings, I hope to hear your good news for your wedding soon. Simon

  3. Mick, You can consider the April 3, 4, 11, or 15th as your Wedding date, those are the fortunate wedding dates in Chinese calendar. I plan to have my on 27th since it's only good weekend in April. Cheers, Simon

  8. My fiancée (Mengyun from 001) was the August interviewee; she just arrived here and gets rid of the jetlag pretty quick within 3 days. We are planning to get marry in Las Vegas at an easy way because our parents aren’t here. After everything settle down and parents are here then we will have the banquet in local area. I know lots of JMs came here already and perhaps got marry already (or soon), any GG has some experiences or survey for the wedding chapels or service in LV like to share with us. If some CFL/001 couples plan to do it the same recently, maybe we can join together for a small group wedding (or small CFL/00 1reunion) to save time or money and that will be fun too. My proposal is to have the wedding on 3/29 since it’s a very fortunate day in Chinese calendar. I think this is easy for west coast (or 001California group, Jennifer and littlebear, please respond) but some couples want to stop by LA or SF then to get marry (or visit) in LV before heading to sweet home are welcome too. Simon
  9. My August fiancée got her EMS yesterday. The whole thing is kind of strange because it happened suddenly. I call DOS yesterday and today to verify when did our case got cleared but the case is showing still pending and EMS sent out by 03/04. Don't know it because GZ don't have time to update the detail status or like Mick said one lady received EMS but they took her passport and gave her no visa in return will happen due to this. Can some of newborn EMS owners’ GG verify that as well? ST
  10. Eric, I am so happy for you, I hope it will be my turn next week. Try to take some days off to stay with your lady along, she needs it. Good luck for you and have a happy new life. ST
  11. I want to pick up the visa today. But too late. So I will pick it up on Monday. Hope I can see ur lady that day. I believe you will meet some of August ladies on Monday. I will ask my lady to email you from 001. Thanks again for the store direction of the wedding dress. ST
  12. Hi Jennifer, That is a great news for you, I am so happy for you too. My lady should receive the EMS by the end of this week. When do you plan to pick up your visa? perhaps my lady can meet you there. Good luck for you, ST
  13. I got another email from GZ which did forward from my fiancee. I have three sources confirm this, and that means I can expect to see my lady sometime next week if no "technical glitch" issue. thanks for everyone, ST ·¢¼þÈË: Hays, Clayton P [mailto:HaysC@state.gov] ·¢ËÍʱ¼ä: 2003Äê3ÔÂ5ÈÕ 15:35 ÊÕ¼þÈË: 'xxxxx@szonline.net' Ö÷Ìâ: RE: DO OUR NAME CHECK MANUALLY! Ms. xx, Your visa is ready to be printed. The Immigrant Visa Unit has mailed a notice to the address on record; the EMS invoice number is EJxxxxxxxxxCN. The notice will instruct you to bring your passport and the notice itself to the consulate at your soonest convenience. Barring a technical glitch, you should be able to pick up your visa the same day. However, the Consulate recommends that you wait until you have the visa in hand before securing tickets to travel to the United States. Regards, Guangzhou IV Unit
  14. If it's my turn then I will stay at home with my lady for couple days, eating, sleeping, and ..... ST

  16. I just received an forward email from my fiancee which confirmed our case have been claered truly. The copy is as following, ST _________________________________________________________ Dear Ms. xx: Assistant Secretary Maura Harty has asked us to respond to your e-mail of March 3 requesting information about your fiancee visa application. Our last communication about this case was an e-mail to your fiancee on February 25. Your case was delayed by required security-related vetting through an interagency clearance process. We are happy to inform you that this process has been completed and that the Consulate has received permission to continue processing your case. I hope this information is helpful. Sincerely, Kxxxxxx Cxxxxx Acting Director Office of Public and Diplomatic Liaison Visa Services
  17. Thanks. Only half an hour? Do they screen your questions before let you in? I believe it's 14.00 to 16.30 Hrs.... Still not much of a "time slot" for us USC's. But maybe they shorten the time even more lately. Below is what the website says... No end time.. "In Person American Citizen petitioners in Guangzhou may enter the Immigrant Visa section on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 2 PM." There are many security guards outside the fences will screen everyone try to get in, your passport and your purpose are the reason to get in. The inquiry windows are open from 2:00 to 4:00 (or 4:30) pm but the security guards will let the certain category purpose to get in on different schedule. I learned it last time and the ACS people inside GZ gave me a paper that states it also. I went there about 3:00 pm and the security guards almost blocked me in but I said I had something else like to talk to ACS people instead. I am lucky for an another nice security guards in front of the room to let me into the room and in the last queue as well. I don't know it's coincident or not, I went there to ask for P4 (Jul/02) and EMS (Feb/03) info then within a month, they do show up. By your chance, pal.
  18. I did try it but it's only for international mails. Internet inquiry for nationwide itself still under construction. I will ask my lady to check it by phone. thanks for your idea, ST
  19. I went there 20th last month, GZ change the schedule since the end of last year and they only open to inquire the immigration info on Tuesdays, Thursday and 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm only. Be there earlier otherwise you have to come out something else to get in. BTW, they have different entrance than last year due to the construction. ST
  20. I called DOS this noon (PST) and she gave me the EMS tracking number. I am in August group, check my time line at the end. After 196 days wait, I am so exciting and even forgot to ask when did our case got cleared. I can’t believe that my fiancée even got the email from GZ yesterday (last night my time) and it said they didn't get authorizes from DOS yet... (but it's lots different of copy and paste than before), today it's total different story. It happened suddenly and that make me think about, 1) The legend is true, GZ hold lot of cleared cases and needs more time to process. Keep your eyes open 2) GZ and even DOS info line can’t be trusted if they said it still pending due to the mess of GZ. 3) I should hold my breath until I double-check this tomorrow to make sure it’s not a false alarm that did happen at this forum. I will keep posting if some odd thing happen. I really appreciate you guys especial for Mick, Joe, and the people create this forum for us. Keep in mind, like the 001 JMs stated in the last letter to DOS and GZ “LOVE WILL PREVAIL!”, just need a little bit of time. Good luck to all of you and I love my lady. 21. Mick, How do I contact a real person to get the first hand info from CA? thanks. ST
  22. Nicole, My Fiancee has only 2 characters and it's very common if base on pronouncing. After wait for 192 days with 3 times name check requests submitted to DOS, it's still pending. I do believe what she said about things slow down when many people have the same name. I start to believe that my case is being ignored or something is wrong with the computer program for the name check process. It’s not really fair to do the direct translation for Chinese name characters. It’s very important that lots of name of the Chinese characters have the some pronouncing and that make them all have the same English translation. DOS, FBI, or CIA should verify the program did compare the “Telecode” of Chinese characters at the same time. Other information like gender, birthday, and etc also need to do the crosscheck with the database as well. ST
  23. Jennifer: Based on our family's experience, and from reading other reports on CFL, I'd say that Senator Feinstein's office has not been very helpful in the visa delay situation. The other California senator is Barbara Boxer; I haven't heard any reports either way about her office's willingness to help. One thing to keep in mind is that every state has just two senators, no matter what it's size. California, with 35 million people, has the same number of senators as Rhode Island, with less than 2 million. I am from LA, NOA1: November 30, 2001, Interview date, August 20, 2002, 2nd resubmit: January 28, 2003. As of today the total visa delay is: 191 days. I did request help from both of them. I got the letter paper from Senator Feinstein but she doesn't has the interest about this case. I also got the e-mail form Senator Boxer as following. Maybe we should go with Senator Boxer at this time. ST Dear Mr. XXX: Thank you for your recent request for assistance with a federal agency. Please be assured that your matter will receive serious attention, and that I will make every effort, consistent with federal law and ethics standards, to assist you. However, I will need to have your written consent on file before I can open a formal inquiry into your case. In most cases, such consent is required by federal law or regulation. Therefore, please send your written and signed request for assistance to: U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer 1700 Montgomery St., Suite 240 San Francisco, CA 94111 In your statement, please include your name, your address, your phone number, any relevant identification numbers (such as your social security or alien registration number), a brief description of your case, and your signature. If this is an emergency, please call my San Francisco office at (415) 403-0100, and a member of my staff will assist you. Once again, thank you for writing.
  24. Still Pending, NOA1 date: 11/30.01, Interview date: 8/20/02, Latest Resubmit date: 01/28/03. As of today the total visa delay is: 191 days ST
