  1. My fiancee finally received the k-1 visa approval notice, but we are not sure what the Consulate is asking her to send before they will mail the visa to her. The first item is marked with an (X), so it is clear that she needs to send her passport and new visa photos, along with the filled out waybill which they enclosed in her notification. The next two items are not so clear since they are marked with a slash (/) and blanks are not filled in. / Your Police Report has expired or will expire on _________ (blank not filled in). If your Police Report has already expired or you cannot submit it to the Consulate before it expires, please renew your Police Report and send it to the Consulate with your passport. / Your Medical Report has expired or will expire on _________ (blank not filled in). If your Medical Report has already expired or you cannot submit it to the Consulate at least one month before it expires, please return to the panel physician for a new medical exam and medical report, and submit the medical report with your passport to the Consulate. ------------------------------------------------------------ Her Police Report expires on May 18, 2013. We do not know when her Medical Report expires, but it was completed on October 27, 2012. Is it good for one year? So the question is, What besides the passport, photos, and waybill do we need to send to the Consulate? Does she need to get a new medical report?
  2. Has anyone heard of a police certificate proving no criminal record? Does my fiancee in China need this? Also, if she does, does anyone know what this is called in Chinese?
  3. Hi, I'm currently working to get the documents my wife needs for her CR-1 visa interview (just got NOA2). We went to her hometown to get her police certificate, then went to a nearby, slightly larger town's notarial office to get it translated and notarized (along with her birth certificate and our marriage certificate). As our luck would have it, the police certificate had a typo in her ID number. The notary said we could make the white book with English translation, notarization, and red stamp in one of two ways: direct or indirect. (They are saying 直接 or 间接.) I never heard these words used to describe the notarization process before. Supposedly, with "direct" the actual police certificate is included in the white book and the translation of that document is said to be genuine; with "indirect", the original document (the police certificate) is not included in the white book, but there is a statement in Chinese and English affirming what the original document stated. In our case, the "direct" way would of course involve going back to get a corrected police certificate, and that's what we've tentatively decided to do. I'm guessing that the "direct" way is better and what is needed by Guangzhou, but I am quite confused because from what I've read on here, it seems like most people never get the original document back, or at least don't need it for Guangzhou. Has anyone heard these terms before, or have any recommendation based on my description? By the way, getting these documents, or anything from her hometown, is always a really big hassle. I'm really surprised when people describe their own experience and it seems so straightforward. Every time we've obtained some official documents from her hometown (including her passport for her B2, and our marriage certificate), we always need to bribe the workers with extra money and cigarettes before they will do anything. Even to fix the typo on her police certificate, we're going to need to give them some incentive (to fix their own mistake). I don't know if it has to do with the level of corruption in the local government, or my own naivety. Drives me absolutely crazy! If you've found any workaround for this, I'd really love to hear. Many thanks for all the helpful posts and replies I've learned from.
  4. Since LiYuan got a blue and we need to submit the documents requested and since most blue's on average take 4 months to overcome. Her Police certificate expires on May 22 2013, should we just attach a new one now with the requested documents to avoid another 4 month delay later? Thanks for any advice and help
  5. We are applying K1 visa, now at P3 stage. I am going to get notary documents for Birth certificate, police certificate, marital status certificate from my Hukou's Notary Office. I wonder how many notary copies (副本) shall I get for the future uses like getting marriage license, marriage certificate, Social Security Number, Adjust of Status, Green card etc....So that I can save time in the future. How long does the notary documents valid for Birth certificate, police certificate, marital status certificate? Does the copies (副本) has the same effect as the original one?
  6. The National Visa Center requested a China Mainland Police cetificate from my wife in Shenzhen. She was successful in obtaining it and Fed-Exed Air to the United States. My concern is it was only in the Chinese language. I wonder if the NVC will request it to be translated into English
  7. In my own personal search I found out this useful information from the Australian Embassy Website, I hope this helps. To obtaining a Chinese Police Clearance Certificate bring the following to the Beijing Public Security Bureau (PSB): 1. Contact your company(s) in Beijing and request a letter to confirm that you haven't been doing anything unlawful while working in the company (s). 2. You will then need to take the following documents to an authorised agency to obtain the certificate: a. the letter(s) from your company(s) B. the passport with your Chinese work visa c. your current passport. d. a letter of authorisation (Please note you will need to authorise someone in Beijing to apply for this certificate on your behalf). Pleased be advised that the above information is provided by Beijing PSB. If you worked in other cities, you will need to contact their local PSB for information.
  8. I want to ask first of all I posted a previous topic on something else and it disappeared and vanished. Apparently deleted. Though I'm not sure why...is it possible a server problem and if a moderator did delete it, do they usually send a message why? Looking ahead at police certificates me and my wife are at a disagreement on weather she needs one for when she lived in University. She tells me that Chinese websites say they you only need one from your principal home area. Im just a little concerned since or we put both her university residency and her home on previous applications and I would suspect they want a police certificate from both since it says from each locality. Does anyone have anyone have any experience with this issue? She also notes that all the police are connected in China anyways. (Though I'm not sure if that's true). Secondly a question about domicile. I just realized with my Support Affidavit i need to provide domicile. I got confused because before I thought that evidence was introduced somewhere else. How much evidence do they really want for this? will my join sponsor support affidavit and a copy of my bank record online from a us bank be enough? I dont have a job yet so I dont have anything like that to give. Some people noted online letters from parents on intent to live, but is that necessary if I am already getting them to sign a support affidavit? I dont own anything major in USA, except for a car, but that might actually be under my dad's name not mine.
  9. Hi everyone, Our family did a DCF in Beijing last August. So far, so good. Our next step is to gather police reports from all the places my wife has lived. She was born in China, but has been a Japanese citizen for a number of years. People here told us that getting police reports for the time she lived in Japan would be difficult, so we started early, and succeeded. Thanks for the tip. Now we need a report for the time she has been in China (Shanghai, the last 2 years). At our local police station, they say they don't issue reports for foreign nationals. They say the same is true for every station in Shanghai, and maybe everywhere in China. So, two questions ... (1) Has any foreigner been able to get a report from the Chinese police ? If so, how did you do it ? (2) What happens if we can't get the police report ? I vaguely remember reading that, as an alternative, we simply have to get a statement from the police saying that they don't/won't/can't issue a report. Did I remember correctly ? thanks
  10. Does anyone have a copy of the police report submitted to guangzhou? I am not to clear on what the police should say in their report. If someone would I would love to see the Chinese (hanzi) police report. thanks in advance. Rodger and Christina Wilson
  11. Hi, Is there anyone who has obtained a police certificate from Hong Kong. Hong Kong requires me to send the application with a letter from NVC saying that a police certificate is needed. I called NVC and that representative told me to send in what I have right now (without the hk police certificate) and when they find out I am missing something, then NVC will send us a checklist. Is there anyway to avoid this delay? They said they will genereate a checklist at some point...but I am not really sure what she was talking about. I have paid AOS and IV fee, but haven't submit my tax documents (i864) stuff. Thanks.
  12. Just got a letter from lawyer in Brazil. They said they can get the federal police certificate with power of attorney but that the state certificate requires fingerprints and must be done in person (no POA).They did say we could request one from the brazil embassy in china. So weigh in folks: 1.If I can get the State from the embassy does that mean I can get the fed as well? 2.would getting the fed only be cause for rejection in GZ ? 3.Is there any chance of working with the embassy over the phone or e-maiil, or is a personal trip a must?
  13. My fiance is citizenship of South Korea, and she went to school in Guangzhou, China for 2 years. I am applying for a K-1 visa for her and she needs a Police Certificate for her stay in Guangzhou. How would I go about getting one? I dont think the police have any information about her, also she doesnt have a residence card for China. Thanks for your help.
  14. Hi, just wondering how long is the police certificate good for after it gets notarized? I am applying for a CR-1, its there enough time to use it between sending it to the NVC and submitting it at the interview? Thanks
  15. We were married in Beijing and my wife is Russian. Both of us have lived together in China for the past 5 years. We requested the police certificate for her to cover those 5 years plus the 2 years she had been in China prior to that. The problem is that when she picked up the certificate today, they informed her that the certificate is only for Beijing. They said that they can only issue police certs for Beijing. My question is: The 2 years my wife was in China before we met wasn't a continous 2 years. She went back home to Russia several times during that time. So her longest time in China during that 2 year span was about 6 months then she would leave and go back to Russia for a month and then return to China, sometimes on the same visa. Will she need police certificates for those short time frames? What is the minimum time legnth she needed to be in China each time to be required to produce a police certificate? Thank you everyone a bunch.
  16. [/b] PLEASE I need help with these documents desparately: 1. 'Birth Certificate': 出生证明 Right? But what I got was called in Chinese, 户籍证明,which with no information of my parents, such as names, marriage proof etc, but oddly enough was approved by the USISC. Now in the visa instruction papers I received from GUZ Consolar Office, the Birth Ceritficate was definied as a certificate that including date and place of birth, AND my parents names. Where to get it? Here are the places I was sent to: 民政局 the Bureau of Civil of Affair 公安局(户籍处)the Bureau of Public Security ( the Household Register Department) 派出所 The Police Sub-station 街道办事处 The Street Committees / the Community Committees? 2. 'Police Certificate': 警方证明 Where to get it? Again, here's a list of the choices: 公安局 the Bureau of Public Security 派出所 the Police Sub-station 街道办事处 the Street Committees / the Community Committees The Police Station told me that because I'd been away from my hometown for decades, I should go to those cities' police station(s) for such certificate during whatever time while I was there, and I've worked (so lived) in more than 3 provinces in China, does this mean that I have to go to every single one of them? I thought that the local authrities would defenitely be notified if I had ever been charged or convicted of any crimial charge. PLEASE HELPL!!! I'm at the dead end.
  17. Hi, First I would like to thanks everyone who answered my previous posts, they were very helpful. My wife is trying to get a police certificate soon. We want to know what does one contain and its translation. We want to make sure it contains/has the correct information and the correct translation. Does anyone have a sample of police certificate from China? Do we need to send in the original for NVC? Lastly, does it have 1 year before it is expired? Thank you very much. Ricky
  18. Hi, I have searched this subject on this site and VJ with no clear answer, maybe someone can clear things up for me. My fiancee worked in Japan for 2 years during the 90's. I understand she will need a police report from Japan, which is available through a Japanese consulate in China. This is where things are unclear, exactly what paperwork will she need at the Japanese consulate to obtain her police report? If anyone here has gone through this process, please help us! Jeff
  19. Hi all, Regarding Police Records. My wife spent 3 years outside of China in South Africa. She's been back in China now since 2002. Questions. 1. Does she need police records from South Africa? 2. If so, Any idea on how to get them from South Africa? 3. If she needs police records from SA, she will also need them from China, right? Thanks in advance,
  20. Since my wife has been here in the US since the K-3, will we need a police report for the 15 or so months in the US? and will we need to get a new police report from her city in China? What else can I expect that might be out of the ordinary? Will they require a lot of proof of ongoing relationship? We have family photos, mail, property tax bill, and medical bills paid by my insurance, anything else we might need? Will it be any different because we already have the K-3? I am a little nervous just begining again, thanks Mike & Yizhen
  21. Ok, we don't have our interview date yet, but it could be close (fingers crossed). We also STILL don't have the Japanese police cert. (They finally said they would do it...we had to travel all the way from Inner Mongolia to GUZ to apply for the damn thing, since Beijing would not even hear of it, even after going about 10 times). We applied on 4/15 and they said 2-3 months. This means the thing could be ready as late as 7/15. From what I understand, they ask for the police certs at the medical exam, right? What happens if you don't have it? Can you say that you will soon get it? Do the VO's look at it? Also, if we don't get it in time, if I write a statement saying I know that hubby has no criminal record in Japan and have it certified at the US consulate, will they accept it? I know, they will probably give us a blue if there is no cert. Has anyone ever "slid through" the police cert requirement? I never thought I'd find a government slower than our own, but seems like Japan is the clear winner.
  22. Well after several weeks of several methods of trying to contact GUZ, i finally got a response to my request for assistance in obtaining the criminal record from Japan. This is exactly what I recieved, with the name x-ed out. (I knew they didn't have my case record yet because we just passed the Bejing DHL process) If you want some background, here is the exact email I sent them And here is their reply: SOOOO to recap, the Japanese embassy gave me their version of "F-you, it's not our problem" and then my government went off and did the same. Now, husband gets to go and TRY to apply for a Japanese visa, and just get the damn thing himself. I can't imagine how long that's gonna take, not to mention airfare. Luckily his sister lives in Kyoto so he will stay there for free. UGH! Just venting and kind of begging for advice. Thank you all for reading.
  23. How to obtain any coutry's police certificate if the embassy won't give them out at the person's request.
  24. Dear all, Has anybody done any similar police clearance from the UK Metropolitan Police station? I have just received a letter from them, but I am not sure whether the letter is the one that I need to show to the US Consulate on my interview? Anybody can help? Here is how the letter was written: "In reply to your request for information that maybe held about you by the Metropolitan Police on computers in the following categories: Person Record: Prosecution/Conviction The Data Protection Act places an obligation on the Police when holding personal information on computer to provide a copy of that information (unless an exemption applies) to the individual concerned on request. From the personal details supplied in your request there is no information held about you in the Person Record category of the Police National Computer. Is it the one? sometimes I think whether it said that "they can't find any of my personal information on their computer" but I do remember I went to the Police station for registration once I arrived in the UK, how come they don't have my record? Just to confirm whether that letter is the Police clearance or not. Many thanks.
  25. Hi, I was just wondering if the police report that we got from China has to be notarized or not. I heard from someone that it needs to be notarized. Also, I need to write a letter explaining that I've been working abroad for the past five years in different countries and have not made enouph to have to pay taxes. Does this letter that I write have to be notarized? That's all. Thanks for you help.
