  1. I have been to PRC only 3 times, twice to Guang Zhou and once to Chong Qing. The people there were very friendly, never had any problems at all feeling sorta "out of place" I was called "White Ghost" few times there, but that is expected...lol...lol...
  2. I remember the first time that I ever knew an Asian girl. We were stationed in Texas at Randolph AFB and I was going to the High School there. I think it was my first year in that school and I was in my Physical Science class. There was a, if I can remember right, a Chinese or Japanese in my class that needed to borrow a pencil, her name was Ocha (I know I didnt spell that right) I gave her mine and let her use it, really never thought much of it. I then found out that she lived very close to where we used to live. She started showing up at our house and we would set in the swing outside and talk and talk for hours, never in my whole life did I know that those days would change my whole life. Asian girls are the most beautiful in the world, I have yet to see an American girl that could come close to being as beautiful as my Jennifer is. I love her so much!
  3. Jennifer has asked me why I didnt get married to an American. I eally didnt know what to say about that except, 'I dont know." I take the easy way out. I have been happy with American girls, but not as happy as I am now. I dont think there is any American girl that could make me as happy as I am right now.
  4. I think the interracial thing that you talked about is the most important thing. When I first started the K1 Visa, I only told a hand full of people at my work about it, but word got around that I was doing it. There are a few people that I know talk about me behind my back and say things that they wouldn't say to my face, but I really dont care, it is my life and as long as Jennifer and I are happy, that's all that matters. There are a few that still crack the usual Chinese joke here and there, but I have learned to just pass them by and not even say anything to them. The worst thing that I hate is when Jennifer and I are walking around and people just stare at us like we are from another planet, I dont understand what the big deal is. I guess that most Americans think that we should just stick to our own race, which I think is the stupidest thing that I have ever heard in my life. I guess all in all this leads back to the topic again, I sorta knew that I would have a hard time with people dealing with this, but I guess it could be a lot worse.
  5. I guess my mom and dad were a little pessimistic at first, especially when I told them that I was going to fly to the PRC by myself. I dont know if they were more worried about me doing that or getting married to a gilr from China. My dad is "oldschool", (retired Lt. Col in the Air Force) and I thought that he would have a few choice words about it, but to tell you the truth, he didn't have much to say about it. I think once they found out that I was actually going to go through all of this, thats when they started to really get involved in the whole process along with me. When I would go to there house, they would ask how Jennifer was, how much more time before she gets here...ect I was pretty happy at the response that I got from them and my sister also. I think at first it was really hard for Jennifer to accept my parents and the way people act in the states, but overall, she has grown to love my parents and accept them for what they are. I just set and think about how it is going to change our generation of the Parks family. We are English and Scottish heritage, and now all of a sudden, there is Chinese in our family tree. I cant wait to set and be able to tell my son about this one day and see what he thinks of it. I never thought in a million years that I would be married to a Chinese girl, better yet have the chance to actually go to China and visit. I think it is the greatest thing that has ever happend to me in my life and I think I can speak for Jennifer and say that she thinks the same way. I feel like my life has started all over again, it's the greatest feeling in the world.
  6. You know I was thinking the other day about this. I am the first American in my families generation to marry into another ethnic group. Jennifer is also the first to marry into another ethnic group. You know it is really amazing when you set and think about it, Jennifer and I are changing both of our families to a point that they will never be the same again. Where will it go from here? I was just wondering if this is the same case with the rest of you guys. How does the rest of youre family feel about it, and how does youre Wife and or Fiance's family feel about it?
  7. We just had ours on the 28 of last month. We took quit a lot of things with us to show that we are getting along and this and that. We took pictures, bills with Jennifers name on it, our marriage papers and a statement from our bank that she has a savings account. These are things that we should have taken: Letters from friends that tell about our marraige and if they think it is working or not. A letter form the place where I work at that says that she is on my Life Insurance policy. A statement from Delta showing the Sky Miles that I have from the 3 times that I have been to China. The lady told us that the letters from friends have to be notarized. I am not really sure why they want the statement from Delta, I have never heard of them wanting that before. We had the ticket stubs and boarding passes, but they still wanted that. The interview itself was really easy, no problems at all. Good luck to you,
  8. Yea, I got one of those and the problem that I had was that I sent in the wrong Birth Certificate. I sent in the one from the Hospital that I was born at and they wanted the one from the state with the state seal on it.
  9. Are you behind a firewall? Yea, thats the problem. Yahoo has told me that it is the firewall, but I dont have any idea how to config it for the Yahoo Voice Chat, any ideas? I have written Nortin and asked for a manual of how to config there program, but havent gotten a response back yet. I am going to guess that they are going to tell me to use there online support page, but that takes me back to square one again, I dont have any idea how to do these type of things. I went to that web page that you had the link for, am I supposed to do this: If neither of the above options work, you're probably behind a firewall or proxy server that requires you to enter its address. Follow these steps: Open the Login menu in Messenger. Click on Preferences, then click on the Connection tab. Click on Use proxies. Here you can enter your firewall and/or proxy server's address and port number. Contact your network administrator (if you're at work), or your Internet service provider (if you're at home) to determine the correct firewall and proxy settings. If I am, I dont have any idea how to do this Have any of you had to do this to get the Yahoo Voice Chat to work?
  10. I am glad you brought this topic up. Jennifer used to talk to her parents all of the time with the Yahoo Voice Chat. It seams now when she tries to connect it says that the server is having trouble connecting and that it is trying to reconnect, but never does. Has anyone else had this problem? How did you fix it? Thanks a million,
  11. I go to that chat room that is on this site, does anyone ever actually use that chat room, just wondering?
  12. Please send me youre E-mail address again and I will send you all of them, sorry about the mix up. I am sorta new to the HP Photo Page, so now I have it all taken care of.
  13. I know some of you looked at the pictures that Jennifer and I had taken in China, I just need to know how many you actually saw? I sent them to a friend tonite and told him that it was about 200 pictures and he said that he only got to see 12 of them, did you guys that looked at them only see 12 also? I have figured out how to send them all to you guys if you didnt see them all, sorry about the cmix up.
  14. Those are some pretty good pictures, are some of them missing, I got a few red "X" in there? If you would like to see our pictures, just E-mail and I will set you up with the information. What part of Chong Qing did you live in? Some of the pictures look like I have been there before. Because of so many photos, you might need to refresh the page if you do not have a fast connection. The community my wife lives in is Dong Fang Jia Yuan, and is located across the Jianglian River. Some of the photos are from the Garden at the river and also in the Gele Mountain area where my wife is from. The rest of the photos are from just about every where in CQ. Bryan I guess you ran out of bandwith, I will try again later and refresh the page, thanks
  15. I agree 100% the worst thing about going to China is the 12-13 hour flight, but China Southern seams to make it a very nice ride. Never had any problems with them at all, very nice ladies and gentelmen. Guang Zhou airport could use a little make over though, if you have seen the pictures that we took there are some pictures of Guang Zhou airport. I remember the first time I went there, I got my 35mm camera stolen right in front of my nose. It was sorta funny, they stole the camera, but left me the bag. Pretty smart though. The best thing to do in Guang Zhou airport is to go upstairs to that resturant that overlooks the entrance and set there and watch the people line up to board there flight. If you go there, dont buy the calling cards that they offer you , if I am not mistaken there is a booth there that you can make calls from and they will charge you 1 RMB to do it. I made the mistake of buying one the first time I went there, got riped off pretty much again. The airport in Chong Qing is much better, looks like it is more up to date and from what Jennifer tells me, they are building a new one right near the old one.
  16. We stayed in the Yubei District and Yuzhong District. We didnt even go near the Mc Donalds while I was there, but I did see it. We also saw a KFC, Jennifer says that it is really nasty to eat there. Her parents live Banan District. I loved it there, the only thing I couldnt get used to was the toliet there, I think you know what I am talking about, right? I miss the steamed bread and noodles for breakfeast that her dad used to go and get us every morning.
  17. Yes, we were on China Southern. That is the airline that I have taken the two times that I went there and the 0ne time that Jennifer and I went. I think it is a great airline, but then again that is the only one that I have ever taken to China.
  18. Those are some pretty good pictures, are some of them missing, I got a few red "X" in there? If you would like to see our pictures, just E-mail and I will set you up with the information. What part of Chong Qing did you live in? Some of the pictures look like I have been there before.
  19. You know that place on the East Coast near North Carolina, please dont ask me who North Carolina is! Did you like or see anything in the pictures that you remember about Chong Qing? I loved going to the malls there, it was the first time I have ever seen a mall that has 5 or 6 floors on it. I think the only thing that I didnt like about Chong Qing was the dust, it was everywhere! I did love the mountains but hated something called "Spring Water Chicken" I guess you know what I am talking about. I love the Hot Pots, and the room tempture beer, but not the Rice Wine, WOW! that is some strong stuff. I dont know if she has a sister or not?
  20. When Jennifer and I were in Chong Qing we have about 20o pictures, if anyone would like to see them just E-mail us and we will give you the information to look at them. I tried to set up a web site on GEO Cities, but they wanted me to download a new version of Java. We had some pretty bad times with our last computer downloading things, so we are going to keep this one just the way it is. Do any of you guys live near Virginia?
  21. Jennifer and I went through Customs on the 13 of this month at LA X. No problems at all. Once we got off of the plain they have about 3-4 lines to wait in. I think this time they had two for American citizens and two for visitors. Once we made it to the customs officer he looked at Jennifers passport and asked her if she had her travel papers and asked her a few questions, when we got married, where we live at, thats it. Then she had to see another officef about getting back into the US. The wait was about 30 minutes or so. The first thing she told her was that they should have taken her I-94 when she first left the US. The lady said that it wasnt any problem though. We got lucky, the lady that Jennifer saw was Chinese also The officer stood behind the desk and told Jennifer to set in the seat next to me and then she asked her a few questions. Where were youre mom and dad born, where we live at, when we got married, how long we have been married, thats it. She then typed her a new I-94 and gave it to her and then talked with us about her being pregnet and thats pretty much. Very easy and simple, no problems at all.
  22. We got a note from the Doctor about her not being able to take the shot, so I guess we will be ok. Thanks a lot for the information! The immigration officer doesn't care what shots are required; they're just shuffling paper and if the doc says not now, that's fine. Good luck on your interview. We did ours back in January as I remember. If you can find my post about it, it may provide an insight into what you can expect. Other members have also posted about their experiences and I would encourage you to do a search. Remember, forewarned is forearmed. Thanks a lot
  23. If she knows all of the answers to the questions, I am sure that there is a translator there that would do the work for her.
