I spoke again yesterday with am individual at the FBI who in the past was at least able to shed some light on our case and at least give some reassurances that things were progressing. She seemed very flustered, stating "as of yesterday we are no longer doing namechecks, call the State department for more info" I attempted to find out if it was just a simple deparment change, or something larger, to no avail. After hanging up, I got a real bad feeling about this.........

Wow, as usual here everyone has excellent insight into the issues in China, It does seem like most of the claims of forced abortion come from religious groups in the west. So Skibum, yes my question was somewhat answered, thanks.

Is anybody familiar with the realities of the official Chinese "one child policy" the reason I ask is that there are two kids in wifes brothers family, who have recently completed their member by member immigration to New York. How could this happen? They all lived in Taishan city, (fairly modern) and had jobs etc. An internet search basically resulted in information that if a second child is conceived, it is forcefully aborted by the govt, unless the family lives in a very rural "unmonitored" area, What gives here? I dont want to create a ruckus or hard feelings by trying to ask them. I am beginning to have suspicions that my wife may have been the birth mother of the seven year old girl. It sure would explain alot of things.

Thanks all, Excellent advise as usual here. I will send a notarized copy of the registry along with an explanation letter to the nazi bureaucrats. James, they requested our original marriage booklet with appropriate stamps and any other "corroborative, objective and secondary evidence of marriage". As to what triggered the secondary namecheck I still have no Idea. I do know we are specifically hung up at the last stage of it at the FBI. they received the file from DOS last March 4. One of my state senators has made 2 requests for info, with no avail.

As if uncle sam wasn't having enough fun with us already, I just got a notice requesting additional evidence of marriage, most of the documents I readily have on file, no problem. However they have requested the original household/village registry of Manjuans family, which I am not, and apparently should not be listed on, Her family is a little concerned having to send this old and valuable document over here. I called the BCIS to see if a notarized copy will do, no way they said, It was implied, send it or else. Is the BCIS reliable in returning original documents? Anyone able to shed some light on this?

Ahhh, the dreaded p4 wait. this is where things get intersesting. I think they do this on purpose. Its like a carrot on a stick, you watch the process go smoothly, then right near the end everything goes off a cliff into oblivion. -
I see you lurking around out there

Welcome back Carl! My experience with electronic tickets, they wanted to see the credit card. You might just get a paper one and overnight it to her for piece of mind. -

Clifford, Over 2 weeks since I faxed the FBI with the info request, still no reply, Has anybody gotten any solid info from them on requests in the past? Dave -

Something to consider, I didn't use a lawyer, just what is now starting to look like a third rate paralegal to fill out the forms. There were several mistakes that I caught before I submitted the application for the I130 and I129f. At this point in the delay game I sure wish I had hired a GOOD lawyer from the begining, that way I would know that I have done everything possible to avoid causing a "hit" on our secondary namecheck. I lie awake every nlght wondering how we got into this nightmare. It could easily be some minor detail that I overlooked. -
Good Luck Carl and Bing

Carl, I have talked to her to (or one of her evil twins) She seemed to take great pleasure in informing me that it could take another 14 months. Doesn't it just give you warm fuzzies seeing how our tax monies are spent.
