Make sure the rice smells normal, and doesn't change color.

Yeah, my lao po mentioned the same thing to me yesterday when I was telling her about all the hoarding here in CA, and the resulting rationing. I am fortunate, we only live about one hour from the largest rice production area of California, surrounding and just to the north of SMF. When Lao Po arrives, we will go put on our round sun hats and high rubber boots and go out and 'pick' our own, fresh daily !!! Admire we eat the rice from California called U.S.No.1, it's very tasty

Oh Oh --- How long as the rice been sitting in a rice silo? Warehouse? Store? Well let's get back to the rice, believe me that the good stores don't keep rice that long and if you are not sure, you always can judge the good rice, it doesn't have a funny smell and after steaming it smells fragrant even if it's the ordinary kind. Making a friend by judging if it would be any use is awful wrong, BUT also if the person meets the difficulty and his or her friends all leave, it's not right to do. 'A friend indeed is a friend in need', it may be a out-of-fasion sentence, just i undersand how people feel when they are having hard times and all the friends keep distance away from them, it's like when you are in the mud, nobody gives you a hand to pull you up, instead they pretend not knowing or maybe forgeting and those possibly are your so called best freinds. Friends are someones that truly care about you, like you for who you are, respect you for who you are, share interests, learn knowledge from, stay close to you and help you even you are in difficulties instead of leaving..., that's the friends for life, it's easy to say, it's hard to find... I don't think pushing and shoving are good actions even though Im chinese, I think people should have more considerations in their hearts for others, I would not accept the way that people are doing things, well just a little personal thought.

Dave's wife here, it seems it doens't sound good about travelling to France that we are planning to, that's a little disturbing, and we believe that could be true, because we purchased a dvd Le Roi et I'oiseau, and we asked for express delivery, hard to believe that it got lost in France, I would like to have some Louis De Funes' movies, but I have concern about the handling and delivery when it comes from France. That's the reason we are planning to travel to France, well it sounds funny, but we also will take in some sights, really wish the two countries will stay friends again, well hope all countries on the earth will get along good together.

Here's Dave's wife, thanks all for the information, it seems we dont have to worry about the trip that we plan to take during the spring festival, our little baby prince is going to see his grandparents I got a wonderful idea about cooking, I just post here, if you need to watch your sugar, here is a little tip, I use all natural sweets for my cooking like apple, peach, pineapple, purple color cabbage, carrots etc, they make food sweet also healthy, we almost eliminated sugar from our diet, and no sugar added in the cooking, if you bake a turkey, you would soak it in juice before baking, and you can blend apple, peach or can peach, fresh lemon, grape juice, orange juice together, and then pour on the turkey, soak for 3 or 4 hours (let the turkey stay a little bit cool, too hot it would go bad), for the stuffing, you can fry onion, carrots, scallions, garlic, apple, peach or pineapple together, and you get a natural sweet taste. anyway you can find more methods for the natura sweets, ok that's all, stay healthy everyone, have every happy day! I am Dave's wife writing this, guess we just got bad luck last trip to China, we even didn't meet nice chinese through customs, we got a 3-month infant, and no chinese gave us a favour that let us get on the board first, if you were travelling with an infant, you would understand that's a little difficult. On the airplane my husband wanted to rinse baby's fomula feeding bottle, and he walked up to the stewardess, there were two ladies there, one of them was chinese and another was an american that was applying make-up, my husband waited a little while and then was trying to talk to the american, and the Chinese lady rudely said to my husband that if he got eyes that noticed the american lady was applying the make up, and also said you should NOT disturb her, at the same time our 3-month baby was crying for FOOD, OH THIS CHINESE WAS SO NICE!!!!! I am chinese, but I speak the truth, I tell it like it is, I don't make a judgement just because the country I belong to OR the country I live. Any way there is no sense to make judgement, life is life, we just want to live peacefully with the ones you love. Every country has the friendliest people, there is no comparison among countries, if you want to compare, you have to think about population and percentage, for example: 60% friendliest people in France and 60% in China, well thats equal, anyway what I think is that human is jut human, they are the same both have their faults, good and mean same time in the body:) have a nice week.

My wife regulary checks the chinese website www.163.com and she has noticed on the message board a great deal of anti-american sentiment on there , some of the messages even included talk such as they wish 9-11 would happen again and they would join ben laden in an attack against america. Even my last trip to beijing i noticed walking through the stores and markets many people pushed rudely to get by me , my wife seemed to think this was due in large part to jealousy that im an american. The chinese media will print in headlines anything negative that happens concerning america and china , there is nothing good china has to say about the U.S.A.----this is the way it is now Recently president Hu gave the U.S.A. a warning not to give Taiwan military technology. Basically u.s-china relations seem to be at an all time low , my wife has told me its very dangerous now for americans to go traveling about china. Does anyone else have any information they would like to share?
