  1. Congratulations!! Best wishes for everything good and for the new chapter in your journey together!!
  2. Thanks, xiaofenzhu:-) on ur signature, I saw u sent out I-751 back in July, so your hubby got his bio exam yet? Really appreciate all the support here:-) Biometrics were done 8/19 (we didn't have much heads up for booking a flight from our island to Oahu!) so all we are left with is waiting right now. Looking at other's timelines, I am hoping that hubby gets his gc this month or next.
  3. Agreed, I think it took us like 2 1/2 to 3 weeks before we got anything in the mail, but they did cash our check faster than you can say "I'm the government's ATM" Don't worry, sometimes these things take some time. Best of luck!
  4. We have always used the above suggestion...both Chinese characters and pinyin. It has always worked, and we never had problems. Most of our packages are all flat rate envelope/box and it took an average of 8-10 days to get to a somewhat rural area of Inner Mongolia. When hubby and I lived in Beijing, most of the packages arrived in 4-6 days. We used this same method when we lived in Japan with Japanese characters and it took about 3 days to arrive. The way we formulate it is according to the "Chinese Way", that is, the way a Chinese person would address it if they were sending something domestically. We have the Chinese characters on the bottom with the pinyin on top, much like how you would see it if it was a pronounciation guide. We figure that the US just needs to know what country to get it to and once it is in country, the Chinese will take care of it. Never had a piece that did not show up and no pieces ever took an obscene amount of time to get to us. The only time we did something fancy was for visa documents, where we had like registered mail, like three tracking numbers, and a guaranteed delivery lol.
  5. Great pics. However, I am a little dissappointed...I told my sister about a month ago that I wanted to invent 3D porn. I guess the Japanese beat me to it.
  6. Congratulations! All of that hard work (and not to mention wating) has finally paid off!! I am really glad for you and I wish you the best of luck!
  7. Congratulations, classmate lol!!! I haven't been on lately (school has been kicking my @$$!) so please accept my belated congratulations! I am sure you two will be very happy together. Best wishes for the future and the new life that is about to unfold. Now go study!!
  8. I did not include one with my original petition. Our EOR was very simple, more of a timeline of our time together. I refrained from too much emotion, and kept it to less than one page. Like many others, the VO did not even look at it or ask for it. We did not notarize it because a notary is just proof that the person who signed it is really the person who signed it. It does not prove that the content is accurate. We saved our $30 and went out to dinner lol.
  9. I was out of the country (US) for three years (two years in Japan, one year in China) when I decided to move back with my husband. For my domicile, I provided only a few documents and I had no problems with domicile (it never really came up in my husband's interview) 1. Driver's license copy (luckily I renewed my license on one of my trips back home, so it showed an issue date that was between the time I was living abroad) 2. Copy of all my taxes. I still filed even with no income. 2007 was filed joint (you will not have joint since you are K1) 3. Affidavit from mom saying my hubby and I would live with her upon our return to Hawaii 4. Was able to get my hubby on my credit union account; showed statements from the CU showing deposits and withdrawls while I lived overseas 5. US-issued credit card statements (a few from every year) that showed I was maintaning my credit card (both charging and paying) 6. I voted while overseas (2006) by absentee ballot and showed the proof of voting (luckily I kept it!) also showed I was registered for my district in Hawaii 7. Since I planned to attend university after returning to Hawaii, I applied and showed an acceptance letter for the univeristy here Hope these help. Anything that you have, you can submit. Not all things will apply to you, so submit what you feel comfortable submitting. I am sure you will breeze through. Best wishes!
  10. Congratulations on your wedding! As others have said, just I-130. There is a lot of good information here; don't be afraid to ask if you have any other questions along the way. One thing I learned through my experience is to include as much information as possible when you submit your initial petition (aka frontloading). I only included my affidavits by two people, but many others have included all of the evidence that they have gathered up until submitting the petition. Best of luck!
  11. Congrats on the arrival of the card! No more [bad] sleepless nights for 2 years minus 90 days. LOL. Hope to see pics of the little one!
  12. Hey, broken welding machine or bicycle accident, it's all pretty romantic, and meeting in a foreign country is so much fun. I recently found out, through constant prodding, that my husband did in fact laugh when I fell off of my bicycle before offering assistance. LOL. There was a Japanese drama (I forget what it was called) that the couple met through one falling off a bicycle...I think one was Japanese and one was Korean, so it was almost like our story lol. When this whole bicycle stuff went down, I could only say "My name is Erika, I come from Hawaii" and "I'm ok", so when my hubby asked me if I was ok, I said yes, even though tears were streaming down my face once I got back up. After that, he would ride to school with me and make sure I was ok. I'm sure I would have evenutally met him at school or at the dorm, but falling off my bicycle, embarrassing the crap out of myself, and ripping my skirt was so much more memorable for him, I'm sure. hahaha. I didn't know a word of Chinese, not even ni hao or xie xie when I met him. I learned first, from listening to music then through studying (the books were so bad, though because it had the katakana pronounciation of Chinese words lol). Then I moved to China, so that definitely helped. My Japanese really sucks now, and so does my Chinese. I have been meaning to study/practice both, but English is so much easier hehehe. PS Dan, no Japanese language forum necessary, just a couple of people trying to practice their baddddddd Japanese skills lol.
  13. Congrats again! Your wife handled it all well, and I'm happy that your family will all be stateside soon!

  16. Congratulations on your pink!!! Best wishes for your new journey together!! Hope you keep in touch once you are both back on US soil
  17. Congratulations on the approval! We just had biometrics last week and are working with the CA service center, so hopefully, if everything goes well, we should have the 10 year card in a few months! I can imagine it must be pretty great to have that 10 year approval.
  18. Congratulations and best wishes for your new beginnings together!!
  19. Ours took 23 days from POE on 7/23/08 to arrival of GC on 8/15/08 Yours should be any day now!
  20. Congratulations! Now you can sit back and relax. We have biometrics on Thursday!
  21. We went to the SS office a few days after my hubby entered the US. We applied for the SS card, even though we checked the box to automatically get the card. When we went to the SS office, they processed it and said he wasn't in the system. Once we went, it took less than a week, I think. I think that it is always best to just go in. If not, we might have waited for a long time, too.
  22. xiaofeizhu = small fat pig LOL ^_^

  23. If I remember correctly, we paid 200 RMB each. I forget how many we got, but yeah, they are not too cheap. PS, nice new pic!
  24. Thanks guys for your posts. Dan, I will definitely check out NAWBO. I love the pics, Robert! She definitely is an amazing woman! (I especially like the last pic/comment!)
