  1. Thanks for the reply Does this meat that each person, Mon and Dad, can bring in less than 10,000 and not declare it?
  2. Hi Guys My wifes parents passed their interview and got the visitors visa. My question is how much US dollars can they bring into the USA. We have quite a lot of money still in China and would like for them to bring some to us. They will be traveling together and will land in San Francisco. thanks Steve
  3. Hi Guys My wife's parents were rejected on their interview in Shenyang for their visitors visa. We stated on the DS-160 that WE would pay for the trip tickets. We think that told the interviewer to ask questions about me such as "when did your son in law retire, where did your son in law do before he retired" etc. My inlaws couldn't answer these questions. Also we stated on the DS-160 and invitation letter that we were asking for the parents to get a 1 year visa and stay with us for 1 year. Now we have reapplied but this time on the DS-160 we stated that THEY will pay for the tickets and in the invitation letter we said that we would like for them to stay with us for about 3 months. We thought that applying for a shorter time would make the interviewer ask more questions about them and less about me and also give the interviewer more reasons to believe that they would have stronger reasons to go back to China. QUESTION: Does the time stated in the DS-160 and in the invitation letter affect the time of the visa that the interviewing person will give them? ( We understand that most visas are for 1 year) If they are passed and are given a 1 year's visa, will the 3 months in the application affect what the immagration officer at US Customs will give them? We are hoping for 6 months. We have a Chinese friend whose mother applied for a 1 year's visa and she passed and got a 1 year's visa. The US Customs officer gave her 6 months stay in the US (This was her 1st time to the US). But we also heard that a mother in the same situation from Vietnam or Laos was given a 1 year's stay. Is it stricter with Chinese? Also is it possible for Chinese parents to get a 1 year stay?
  4. Hi Guys!! LOOOONG time since I have posted. My wifes parents were rejected for a visitors visa yesterday. My question is how do they need to wait before they can reapply for the interview? Steve
  5. Hello I'm trying to get things together to invite my wifes friend to the USA. Could you give me a copy or some ideas where¡¡£É¡¡£ã£á£î¡¡£ó£å£å¡¡£á¡¡£ì£å£ô£ô£å£ò¡¡£ï£æ¡¡£é£î£ö£é£ô£á£ô£é£ï£î£® £Ô£è£á£î£ë£ó £Ó£ô£å£ö£å £õ£ó£ø£é£á£í£å£î£À£ù£á£è£ï£ï£®£ã£ï£í
  6. Hi to all!!! Ok, got my head back on so let me give you a step by step report of what we did to get PINK . First some background. I’m a US citizen and have been married for almost 3 years and living in Xiamen for 4 years. My wife has a daughter who is almost 11 years old who is going to the USA with us. In December of 2009 we sent all of the first step papers to the USNVC. After that we decided to file electronically which really got things moving. We got our interview date which was scheduled on Aug. 26th. Xiamen belongs to Fujian Province, there’s only one hospital which is xxxxx in Fuzhou. After talking to the hospital on the phone, we found out that we would have to go to Fuzhou back and forth 3 times to get the physical check up and then the results. Meanwhile, the cost for adult is more expensive than the cost in Guangzhou. So finally, we decided to go to the hospital in Guangzhou. Some things to know: If you have a child between the ages of 2 - 14 years old, they will need the TB test and that will take 48 to 72 hours AFTER the test is done to get the results. We got the health checkup at: Guangdong International Travel Health Center No. 33 Shamian North Street Liwan District Guangzhou, PRC PH. # 020-81219513/ 81219500 Fax # 020- 81219663 I recommend this Health Center because they will give all the injections required and are very efficient. Follow the instructions in the website about photo’s and required paperwork. You DONOT need to download and print a copy of the health checkup paperwork as the health center will have them for you. What you need to take is the appointment letter, passport, 7 photos for each person (2 for the interview) We got to Guangzhou on Monday morning about 8 am from Xiamen. If you go to the health center from the airport you can take the Airport Transportation Bus and the cost is 16RMB. Take Bus #5 and get off at the stop for the Oriental Hotel. Then take a taxi to the Health Center. (Less than 20RMB) If you get there in the morning before 9:30 and have no children you can get everything done and receive your papers that same afternoon. IF YOU HAVE A CHILD UNDER 14 I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU GO 3 DAYS BEFORE YOUR INTERVIEW DATE BECAUSE OF THE TB TEST AND 48 TO 72 HOUR WAITING TIME. (The latest time is to get to the health center by 1:30 p.m. on Monday, you can get the result by Wednesday 3:30pm After you get your tests done it is a 15 min walk to the Subway (5RMB), easy to find. Take Line #1 (YELLOW) to the last stop on that line which is a 10 min walk to the US Consulate. MUCH MUCH cheaper than the taxi. Now for more of the interview day etc. We rented a room with the “US Consulate rented an apartment upstairs short” Mr. Li Qiang Cell # 15817124988, PH # 020-85973738 The cost is 150 per night for a bedroom in an apartment with 2 full size beds. We shared a bathroom with two other rooms. Really no problem!! If you stay there take your own towels, soap, toothbrush etc. Rooms have AC and internet and were clean. The apartments are located in the same building as the US Consulate. Ours was in the building North of the Consulate on the 18th. floor. A short walk (3min) to the front of the Consulate entrance. Our interview time was 7:30am and we got in line at 6:45am. Already about 150 people waiting but not all were for immigration. Be sure to have PK #4 invitation letter, passport etc to get in the door. He will check off your name on his list, give you a number tag then you can get into the Consulate. Go to the 5th. Floor and get in line. I had to go to the coffee shop and wait as ONLY the persons immigrating can go in for the interview. The following is from my wife on her interview: The first thing is all of the people will be in one big room, like a bank. Your name will be called to a window and a Chinese person will ask for some of your papers, photos, notarized papers etc that they will need. Then you will be asked to sign some papers and will receive a number and then told to go back and sit down and wait for the number to be called. They will call you by number to be fingerprinted (daughter was not fingerprinted) and told to sit down and wait. You will be call to an interview window by number and name. Now for the interview questions: 1. What is your husband’s name? 2. When did you meet? 3. When did you get married? 4. Is he living in China with you? (he had my passport) 5. When did he come to live in China? Financial questions 1. I see you don’t have a co-sponsor. (My wife told him we are above the 125% poverty level) 2. What did you claim as assets? ( On our I-864 form we hand printed “see attachment A, B, C, D, E” These attachments explained the assets such as the house in California Grant Deed, Bank accounts, Savings accounts, Cd’s, China fund account etc. After looking at all the I-864 form, attachments and all the financial papers he said, OK, YOU ARE APPROVED. Because our interview was on a Thursday we would have had to wait until the next Monday or Tuesday to pick up our visas as they will not mail the visas to Xiamen, only certain cities. So, we had them sent by EMS to Shenyang to a friend and she sent them to us by EMS. If we didn’t do it this way we would have had to stay in Guangzhou 3 extra days and pick them up. I know this is a long letter but if I can help anyone go through this process easier and faster it is worth it. Thank to all CFL people for your help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steve, Clare and Jinjin
  7. We are pink and THANKS to all for the help. Will post more later when we get back to Xiamen Steve
  8. Well guys, after all of your help our date in next Thursday. Wish us luck Thanks again Steve
  9. Hi Guys We have our interview date, Aug 26th. My question is will GUZ send us a Packet, #4 I think, with the required medical forms for my wife and daughter? If not, what forms do we need to download and print OR does the hospital have the medical forms we will need? Thanks Steve
  10. Hi Guys: We got our interview date, Aug 26th. at 7;15am. We will go to Guz on the 23,3 days early to get the medical done for the wife and daughter. 3 days early because we have a 11 year old daughter and we were told there is a special injection, TST, that all childeren need and it takes 48 to 72 hours to get the results. Now some questions: Where can I find the latest version medical forms? DS-2053, DS-3024, DS-3025, DS-3026 If we get "PINK" how long until we receive the visa's. Will we need to go back to GUZ to pick them up or will they mail them to us in Xiamen? For those of you that stayed with Mr. Yang, can you give me the info on how to contact him. Thanks Clare & Steve
  11. Hi Guys. We received notice(see below) and I called them just to be sure. I talked to a lady, VERY nice and she told me this: NVC will not send any more communication to me. They were "packing up" all of our information and will send it to GUZ. I guess that means all the original papers we sent in before we OPTIN'ed for electronic processing. I then asked her if everything has been approved, she told me yes, all your paper work has been approved and CONGRADULATIONS!!! She told me the next thing that will happen is that GUZ will send Packet #4 to us with the Interview date. QUESTION: For you that have filed electronicly, how long until you hear from GUZ with the Packet #4 and the Interview date? FROM NVC Dear Sir/Madam: All documentation necessary to complete the National Visa Center's processing of your case has been received. As soon as an interview date has been scheduled, the applicant, petitioner and attorney (if applicable) will be notified. The applicant should NOT make any travel arrangements, sell property, or give up employment until the US Embassy or Consulate General has issued a visa. The US Embassy or Consulate General may require additional documentation at the time of the interview. Any other info you may have will be appreaciated!!!!!!! Thanks!! Steve
  12. Hi to all! We sent all our info to NVCElectronic@state.gov yesterday. All the info was too big for yahoo to send at one time (even zipped) so we divided the info into two emails. First the Petitioners (me) info, I-865, tax records for three years, passport, birth records, home in USA title, home appraisal, divorce papers, marriage papers etc. Second info for the two Beneficiaries (wife and daughter), DS-230, birth cert, OF-169, divorce papers, marriage papers, AOS cover letters and receipts, IV papers etc. Question: Will the NVC respond that they received our emails? What will be the next response from NVC to us? Thanks Steve
  13. I posted this a couple of hours ago but it disappeared???? IF we get our GUZ interview date we will need to get the med exam for my wife and daughter. Our friend just did this for is wife at the Fuzhou hospital. They had to go to Fuzhou 3 times!!! They live in Xiamen as we do. First just to get an appointment because it could not be made over the phone. Second for the exam and third time just to pick up the papers. Cost in Fuzhou is 1200 RMB for an adult and 800 RMB for a child under 14. Cost in GUZ is 800 RMB for an adult and 600 for a child. For you that have gone to GUZ for the med exam, which hospital and can it be done in 1 or 2 days before the interview? Thanks Steve
  14. IF we get an interview date we will need to complete the med exam for my wife and daughter. Our friend just had the med exam done in Fuzhou and had to travel from Xiamen to Fuzhou 3 time to complete the process!! Once just to make the appointment, they would not make it over the phone. Second for the exam and Third to pick up the papers. Has anyone had this happen to them? QUESTION; Can we just go to GUZ about a couple of days before the interview and complete the med exam? This would be much better if possible. Also the cost in Fuzhou is 1200 RMB and I THINK the cost in GUZ is only 800 RMB What do you think? Steve
