NEVER give them any pictures of a mock wedding. Nicola and I had a "Engagement Party" just like a wedding but no legal documents and we kept all our pictures and videos at home! Your a K1 visa and you don't want them taking forever looking up documents to see if it was real or a not. Make sure you tell her to mention it as a "Engagement party" or else there's trouble.

Talk about Culture Shock! HAHAHA I'm sure China never imagined anything like this in America! Nicola loved it! She blended in with the locals in her first ever Mardi Gras! Just incase anyone else is in this situation: We got our baby's passport without a birth certificate by doing these things: 1-Needed a letter from Doctor with her letter head saying she delivered the baby, the date of delivery, her name, and mother's name and hospital 2- two passport pictures of the baby (My hand was in the picture and I held the baby up for walgreens to take the shot) It was a okay view of the face but we didn't get it exactly her looking at the camera and they accepted it 3-discharge paper from hospital stating when the baby was born, weight, mother's name, on hospital letter head. That's it! They are going to mail it to us in two days. The only thing was because we didn't have a Birth Certificate her passport is only good for one year. Hope this helps. Our baby was 6 weeks old and no birth certificate.

Its funny Jim because you remind me of when I bought Nicola a stuffed animal that was also made in China. I felt weird sending it back to China and having the shipping cost more than the gift!

I thought Nicola and I were beyond material things. We just woke up and got ready to go to work. Well the day started off with "Remember last year you sent me flowers" to "Its fun to Celebrate things" to "What do you want for your birthday" Which basically means I want something for Valentines day now! HAHAHA She finally said "My grandmother asked me what you got me" HAHAHA I did what any intelligent man would do...........Take her out to eat! That way I get to enjoy half the present myself! HAHAHA Its a day to share the love not give it all to our SO In the end she was happy and so was I!!

Sorry Don I posted this in the polls section by accident! I'm so confused! Our baby won't be getting a birth certificate until a few months from now as I posted earlier and we have a paper saying that she was born on such and such date at the local hosptial so we're going to try to bring that for her to get a passport as suggested by the hospital. We made an appointment and they said we need two passport pictures. How do you take a picture of a month old child without her crying and moving around! HAHA Anyone have experience with this at all? Great news! Nicola's grandparents got denied twice! We are going to try one more time when we go to China in March! Your information helped us a lot thanks for posting everything.

I know there are a lot of future CFL babies and some of them might be born in the U.S. Nicola couldn't get health insurance because she was pregnant when she got here and every company we tried for denied her because of her "Pre-existing condition". Well we soon realized that although we are not in any means rich we don't qualify for Medicare and we're headed down the road of "self-pay". I didn't know this at all but you can bargain with hospitals. We got 50% off everything the hospital billed us by calling and explaining to them how hard the bills are on us and that if they would not help us out with the price we wouldn't be able to pay any of it. Some of the smaller amounts we're discounted 15-20% but with blood tests every few weeks it sure did add up. Also the last bill was for $6,500. That was for the two night hospital stay. I could not sleep last night worrying about wheather or not this was going to ruin my credit if I didn't pay. I finally got the courage to call them today and explain to the hospital that we had already paid $1,200 to preadmit Nicola into the hospital and had paid $680 for her anestia not to mention $2,400 for the doctor visits and delivery charge from her doctor. Because I am self-employed and we didn't have health insurance this pregnancy had already cost us $9,400 ($5,000 of which we had to borrow to pay). After I explained all this to the hospital I told them that they could either ruin my credit even though I have paid every bill up to date in full (with discounts of course) or leave me alone. They called me back later that day and said the bill was changed to 0. I was so relieved. I didn't expect it at all and was praying to get a $2,000 or $1,500 bill. I know a lot of you have health insurance through your work but i'm hoping to reach the few that don't. Uncle Trigg said kids were expensive but I never thought they cost so much at 2 weeks old!!

Hey Guys!! Nicola delivered a 7 pound 9 ounce baby girl Melody last night. Talk about loosing sleep! I'll post pictures on the CFL site next week! SHE'S SOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!!!

Hey Trigg!! Missed ya buddy!! Baby's coming in a few days Uncle Trigg must be ready to baby sit!!!

The first time they didn't even look at anything it was a one second interview they just walked up asked their income and Nicola's grandparents started off saying they get a retirement pension and that was it. They got rejected. They tried to tell them about their businesses they own and the lady waved them off. This time they asked how many children they have (Answer was five) and who they are going to visit. Then the VO picked up a letter our lawyer wrote read it for a second and then said sorry no. Nicola's grandparents have prepared a list of assets but the VO didn't look at it. At least this time it was a 2 min interview! HAHA We're determined to get this visa for them. I'll let everyone know which way worked for us! It will take a while but we'll get it.

Thanks for your advice Lele......Her grandparents are really old and would want to travel together. I think we will try a few more other options but will keep this as a last resort. Not sure if they would want to travel alone though. Thanks again

Sorry for the late reply! Again they failed. I will keep everyone updated on what steps we're going to try next. Our lawyer wants a list of their assets and ties to China and will try to call the Consulate herself. She's been our family lawyer and helped my parents become citizens from Iran and I trust her. Any other situation I would just think they are trying to waste our money. I'll keep trying and keep everyone updated on our progress! Good luck to everyone that is K1 and K3 visas.
