  1. Nicola and I went and LOVED it! We want to take her grandparnets this time but DO NOT go to the Park Vista Hotel! I used to stay there with my family for years but now its OLD as all hell! Our bath tub was dripping all night and the room is outdated but over all the city is a dream. Dixie Stampede was TONS of fun too. I'm sure more people can tell you about it. There is a Microtel on Airport Rd in Gatlinburg that's reasonable and close to everything or you can rent a Chalet if you want to splurge. I'm sure you will have fun its a great town.
  2. Perhaps you missed this part of my original post: Thanks for your help but I was asking anyone else that knew anything about it. I would have sent you a PM if it was directed to you buddy! HAHAHA
  3. Thank you so much for your help! I read both websites you gave me and they are VERY informative. Two quick questions: 1-How soon should they apply for the Form I-539 the website says well in advance of their experation date (three weeks enough time?) 2- They did get a 6 month stay on their I-94 but their American Visa had a "Annotation" that states "Two Month Stay". Does that mean they were recommending they stay for two months and when we arrived in LA they allowed 6 months or do we have to follow the annotation? Which is correct their visa Annotation or the I-94 experation date? THANK YOU SO MUCH ONCE AGAIN!
  4. Nicola's grandparents are here, Needless to say they LOVE being here and LOVE New Orleans. They called back China and said America has Musicians on every street! HAHAHA I had to explain that its only in a small area of the French Quarter not everywhere. I was the one that always said Nicola HATED the food here in America but the funny thing is her grandparnets know how to cook and say that the food is the same as China. They also love Crawfish! I'm sure its all the excitement of the moment but I was thinking if they really do like it here and since this is probably one of the few times they will visit I would like to know how to extend their visit. I know they allowed 2 months while here and have heard that we can apply for another 6 months extention. Any advice on this is helpful. Nicola keeps saying since they don't know the language that they will be dying to get back to China after 2 months but we'll see. If I can convice them they can stay for Holoween and Christmas!
  5. When did I post this? I have just logged on Candle and read this post and now there is a post from me? Am I still in Jet lag mode going crazy or did I never write this Post? NicolaNSam: I added that reply, but I did not notice the name. I'm using the computer in Blenz, perhaps you may have left youself logged on. I did not notice the user name while I was using it. I remember logging on at the Victory hotel but anyway that explains why you would have answered in my name. A reminder to everyone to log out I would have never thought of it. I'm very sorry for what your going through but as other people will tell you these types of things usually end well and sooner than you think. I hope you get the same results. DO NOT PAY ANYONE for ANYTHING outside of GZ. They know that eventually she will get her visa and you will pay them for doing nothing!

  7. Thanks for the info Cody. I'll post anything that pans out...
  8. I think the bottom line is, they just want the money. So the $1200 is ok if I knew it before, but it is very difficult to get that much money in China. They had all the "overcome" documents they needed when my SO went for the interview, they still refused to grant her the visa.
  9. We wrote a small paragraph about how we met and also the same page I used as a letter head to explain each and every document. It helped organize what we were presenting to the VO but again she didn't look at it from us either!
  10. I'll post with details later they should be picking up at 3:00 tom. They both got visa's after their third attempt. Needless to say Nicola was so happy that she cried (Never in my life seen her cry because she was happy!) We are all thrilled and grateful for Candle's support. I had organized they paper work much better this time for them with a letter head explaining all their documents and assets. Thanks again for everyone's great support!
  11. Thanks very much Dan, Its worth a try and all they can say is no so here we go again! I'll let everyone know how it goes.
  12. Well, Third time is a charm. Nicola's grandparents have their interview in a few days and we are in Guangzhou this time. I know that I can go inside the embassey with them during the interview I have done it before to invite a furniture factory that I dealt with but I'm wondering if anyone knows if Nicola can go inside the Embassy being that she is a conditional resident using her green card that she got? It would be nice either both of us going or one of us. Thanks in advance for anyone's help!
  13. Just wondering do you need more than one computer to set up several webcams or is there a way to connect several together. Also what program do you use to view multiple webcams. I use yahoo messenger but only with one webcam.
  14. I sure am sorry I missed this but we had just left to China when it started getting posted and now we're in China with no fax machine around. Mark had mentioned it to me (from Mark and Bea) but I had no idea what it was about. I usually see things posted on top and its usually about rules on behaving and oregon get togethers so I missed this one! I feel bad we didn't get a chance to support the group......Good luck everyone with your efforts.
  15. Nicola and I were considered buying a home in China. Once I realized that a old house is not worth anything we just stayed away. Its like a car in America, the older it gets the less its worth.
  16. John, I'm very sorry about what happened I can only imagine what you and your SO are going through so close to interview time. I just hope things work out for you all. Are you going to be there for the interview? Good luck to you guys your in our thoughts
  17. I know we discuss this all the time, What is the website for the Shanghai information center so that I can pay the $6 and make a appointment for Nicola's grandparents. Her grandpa seems to have gotten a lot better. He really scared us at first (Didn't know what happened to him) he kept saying weird things that didn't make sense and couldn't talk properly. Now he seems to be 90% which we never thought he would ever again reach. Thanks in advance. I searched on the links section and couldn't find where to add mins.
  18. We also use Onesuite and love it. Anyone know any cheap calling cards from China to America? We're here and hate to pay too much to call our family in America
  19. Trigg! I sure am glad your back on CFL no one else gets as much replies! I check the site daily and if the creator is Trigg its already got two pages on it the first few hours! HAHAHA Luckily Nicola was shopping to prepare for our trip back to China and I'm off the hook! I saw international women's day and thought it was one of those holiday's like "Napolian day" where no one has any clue or intent to celebrate.
  20. Hope you had your drink before me asking this, Now that you saved money on your AP how about sending a big ole red envelope overstuffed with lucky money this way?
  21. Your suggestion is good, but has one flaw in the reasoning (for SOME of our loved ones...for others, you reasoning I believe is the best course of action): Most Chinese people I know (including my darling) DO NOT WANT TO GIVE UP THEIR CHINESE CITIZENSHIP! If you naturalize, then you must surrender your Chinese citizenship. If you retain a green card, you get the best of both worlds, being able to easily sponsor the American Citizen the other way for a Chinese Green Card, being able to have unrestricted businesses in China, and in the future, a potentially even more valuable passport. It all comes down to a simple question however: does your Chinese Partner think of him/herself as Chinese, or American, or other. Unless the answer is American, then they should stick with the Chinese Passport. Just my own 2 cents on this. For some, your idea is best. However, for most of the people I know, it would be about updating the Chinese Documents... Only problem with your suggestion is she wants to sponser her parents to come to America after she is a citizen and it would take forever if your a green card holder. For us, Nicola is coming her to be a American citizen.
  22. WAY TO GO!!!!!!! If I knew how to put those dancing dudes up I would! HAHAHA Its all easy from now!!
  23. Well I can't believe it but we are going back to China next month. Time has been robbed from us! Where did it go? Its just a different experience once your SO is here isn't it! Nicola's chinese passport has her old last name on it and her driver's licence her new last name. The travel agent said just use her old last name on the ticket and that's what we're going to do since it matches her passport. When do we change her last name and are we going to have any problems traveling?
