  1. Careful-If she goes Sunday then she will have her medical on Monday. I think you can pay an expedite fee but getting the results before she goes to the Interview Tuesday morning maybe tough.
  2. Make a difference? Yes, the difference is that a very small percentage of the public have their opinions swayed by what they see on Hard Copy and MTV. The rest will keep looking and buying the best products at the cheapest price and fill up their cars using oil from the mideast on the way there. The world is driven by market and by price; it's just that simple. Sighing and saying "oh well that's just the way the world is, we might as well accept it" makes more of a difference? Attitudes like that is what perpetuates this exploitation of workers. Right on Carl!!! Whatever happened to the good ole days when people gave a rat's rump about someone other than themselves?? I reckon the 'we' generation moved to the 'me' generation. 'I got mine so who gives a flip if you get your?' Seems like it's fend for yourself and damn the rest of 'em. No wonder our country is in such a pitiful state of affairs!!
  3. Nu uh---When I filed for AOS for wifey I Put her married name on all the paperwork. Her GC came back in her married name and off to SSA to get her card in her married name!!! no problemo at all!!
  4. I am filling out the I-751 for my stepdaughter. she could not file with my wife as USCIS screwed up and she got her GC 6 months after my wife. Part four of the form asks for information about the "spouse or parent through whom she gained her conditional residence from". When I filed this form out for my wife I was the 'spouse or...' My question is this-did my stepdaughter gain her conditional residence because she was a k2 or because she is my stepdaughter??? Who did she get her GC through? Me or my wife??? I have called USCIS three times and they could not answer my question. If they don't know how the hell can I??
  5. I'm a TN hillbilly also and had no problems with theTN stamp
  6. Orrrrrrr, "You load sixteen tons and what do you get? Another day older and soppin' with sweat. St Peter don't you call me when it comes my day, cuzz I'll be a goin' the other way" TN Ernie Ford would be proud! We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.
  7. You can not file earlier than 90 days before her GC expires. dunno about the china thing but she is applying for a permanent RESIDENT card sooooooooooooo
  8. ENOUGH OF THE PISSING CONTEST!!! If you boys want to argue go outside and slap the snot out of each other! This topic is to important to have to close because someones ego is damaged. KEEP THIS ON TOPIC!!
  9. One needn't go to China to see such things. Go to any inner city American ghetto. Poverty isn't restricted to 'other places' only.
  10. The instructions from I-485 seem to indicate it's a year. All this came up two and a half years ago as I was preparing to go to the AOS Interview. From the time of her med exam, March, 2004 to the time of the interview, May 2005, nearly 14 months had elapsed. In my normal panic mode, I called USCIS. After sending 3 underlings packing, I talked to a supervisor about the issue. She told me that as long as you have applied for AOS before one year from the date of the physical then the med exam is valid. At that time we had a few members who had sent in AOS and were RFE'd to get a new physical even if the old one was only a few months old. I asked the USCIS supervisor about this and she explained to me that the IO has discretion to either wave any or all requirements and/or to add additional requirements. "If they choose to have the person adjusting status have 10 med exams, then they need ten"--her words. Also, as the I-693 vac supplement is NOT required to be sent in with the AOS paperwork but rather to be brought to the Interview, I queried her on this as members had been getting RFE'd for this also. she told me that I was correct, it only need be brought to the interview BUT THE IO HAS blah bkah blah. Sooooo, whatever you think the rule book says is just that-what you think it says as the IO doesn't go by the same rules as we do!!
  11. 30k and a 185 day work year at 7 hours per day=23+ dollars per hour. I worked in education for 10 years and believe me, they are not underpaid or overworked. Just try to get a teacher to work summer school. We used to offer them 25$ per hour--few takers as they didn't want to take a 'pay cut!
  12. WHOA - we are placing too much emphasis on the word "approved" here. The interview is passed, or no by the IO, the security check is passed or not, and the green card is dated when it's dated. I think what we're hearing is that's it's post-dated to the interview date. But the hoops are still jumped through before the card is issued. I guess each case is different, Randy, but I'm going on what the IO said to us at our appointment. I watched him as he placed the I-551 stamp in my wife's passport and said that the 3 years to citizenship starts now. Patrick's timeline says interveiw passed but waiting namecheck. I'm sure his wife will eventually get her GC as his stepson got his. But I would think the 3 years would start at the time, and date, of the approval regardless how long it takes to get the GC. Yes - the IO knows (and will tell you) whether it's waiting for an FBI security check or not, or whether the card will be in the mail. If the green card is post-dated for those of us who have to wait for the clearance, that is good news. The date on the GC will be the 'final' approval date--not always the interview date. My wife and stepdaughter both interviewed on the same day--both passed but my stepdaughter needed the FBI namecheck. My wife's GC is dated the date of the interview--my stepdaughters is dated six months later-AFTER the name check was done!!
  13. Ya can't file an EAd before you file for AOS but you can file at the same time--i.e. put the EAD ap in the same envelope with the I-485 but with seperate checks.
  14. Carl. was the reciept number the same for the biometrics as it was for the I-751??
  15. HEY!!! I'm da man in my home!! She WILL drive excactly how and when I tell her too! (should this statement become presented to ML, I will deny any knowledge of said information and immediatley call my friendly neighborhood hit man so that he can visit the offending 'rat' and dispatch him/her with extreme predjudice) So I'm thinking that you're telling her a gold colored SUV either Honda, Toyota (or if you're really cursed) Lexus. Hmmmm she is tight with money but likes good quality things. I'm thinking BMW, Tell her how beautiful she would look in this Trigg. Mybe she will let you drive it once in a while. http://archie.lipsmusic.net/wp-images/bmw_z41.jpg Ya'll don't care how you spend my children's inheritance do you?? In the interest of slowing my own personal national debt, I was thinking more on the lines of an old Pinto. Whatcha all think?? Will she love it or what?
  16. HEY!!! I'm da man in my home!! She WILL drive excactly how and when I tell her too! 17. I filed the I-751,removal of conditions few weeks ago. They cashed my check immediatley and i have been looking for the magic reciept that extends her green card. A couple of days ago I got a letter from the service center with a reciept for the 70$ biometric fee (the I-751 fee and biometrics are sent together with one check). Anyone know if this is SOP for them to send this reciept first?? I called USCIS and they said they don't know how the service centers do it--duhh. Anyway, wifes GC expires in a few weeks so i'm kinda interested in knowing what, if any, procedures they follow????
  18. That's how she did it for sure. She had to take the test in English with no translation device. She got 4 wrong out of 50. Amazed the hell out of me. I could NEVER have passed it if I had to take it in Chinese. Maybe she cheated or maybe she flirted with the examiner. Hmmmmmm, maybe she scared them into passing her--yea, that's the ticket-she scared them!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Wellllllll, you married a Zhanjiang gal---you should be used to being scared!!! Believe me on this one. I know from experience as the woman to whom i am currently wed is a Zhanjiang gal!!
  20. Both!! I'm complainin' about her driving but I'm braggin' that I'm still fast enough to get out of her way!
  21. I think i may be safe for a while. She has had one proffessional two hour driving lesson. It took her one hour and forty-five minutes to get out of the driveway. Her next lesson wil be tuesday--different instructer i'll bet. Anyway, I think I'm safe as long as I don't hang around on the driveway!
  22. Today the elderley woman to whom I am currently wed went to take the written test for her driving permit. I felt this was safe to let her do as the test is only given in English and transaltion devices are not allowed. I'm not sure how she cheated but I'm sure she did. She has a shiney new driving permit and I am scared to death!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Ya, the NOA1 is what extends the GC. 20 days? sounds resonable enough . Thanks David.
  24. Ok so in true fashion I waited to file the I-751-removal of conditions until a month efore her GC expires. I sent it certified mail and it was signed for over two weeks ago. My check was cashed the next day. Anyone know how long it takes them to send the recipt that extends her GC until they are through processing?? Seems if it just a reciept that says I filed they would have sent it out when they cashed the check????
  25. What about the root of the problem? The businesses that pretend not to know that the persons they are hiring, for far less money and benifits than their American counter part, is ilegal. Seems to me if we stop their reasons for coming here they would stop--unless you think they just come for our ghettos.
