  1. I did-it worked for us. Thanks Trigg, That's good news because I mailed it yesterday. That's the same way I operate. Do it today and then tomorrow ask if I did it right. Procrastinate NOW!! Don't put it off!!
  2. If you aren't there it will do no good to say you speak in Chinese. In fact it may cause them to ask for proof. If her english is good enough to do the interview speaking English there won't be any problem-they will assume that you speak English. My SO spoke almost no English and I spoke almost no chinese. We brought proof of having a pocket tranlator etc... She did the interview in Chinese and was never asked for any proof.
  3. That's a perfect case of where the right brain knows what the left is doing. To bad it don't happen more often---then people could drive and talk on the cell phone at the same time... Yup, or in some cases drive and drive at the same time!
  4. Should they look at proof of relationship, they will likley be looking for things dated after you sent in the application. Emails, phone logs, snail mail, additional visits, proof of ability to communicate (common language and/or pocket translator or other means to communicate) etc.
  5. Not only are you not required to be at the interview, you are not allowed to be there. Should you decide to go, you will not be allowed inside the consulate. Most do not attend and have little problem getting the visa. Should she be denied there will be an apportunity to present additional evidence. Make sure she has all the evidence asked for in the P4 that gave her interview date and all should go fine.
  6. Could that be because you are in Tennessee? As soon as they become a part of the US, the language thing should clear right up.. David don't you know that having a different language is the right of a semi autonomus zone like Indian reservations and Tennessee. Yea, what he said-the semi-automatic thingy.
  7. Could that be because you are in Tennessee? As soon as they become a part of the US, the language thing should clear right up.. What??!?!?!? Who told you we were gonna be part of that??? Ain't a gonna happen!!
  8. It's probably the dialect, Trigg - that weird cross between that Tennessee backwoods slang attaching itself to that Chicago midwest twang. Yup, ya mix Dese Dems and doses with ya'lls and yuans's and you get my brand of English. Chicabilly.
  9. corpus colostrum (sp) I once treated a six year old girl who was diagnosed as being mildly mentally retarded due to damage of the corpus colosterum. She could do math withe r right hand and write with her left at the same time. She could also, write one story with her left hand and the other with her right hand at the same time. Fascinating stuff. I'm guessing she was much more efficient than many of our government agencies are.
  10. I often speak in English and nobody knows it.
  11. Wahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Ya'll don't plan your get together 'round me. I'm not sure what I'm doing now much less in 6 weeks. IF/When I fly out there this summer I'll just look you all up and make you buy me a beer, maybe two, maybe three, maybe four, maybe five. Damn, now I'm getting dizzy!!!!!
  13. Kim, I can't commit until after our AOS interview in May. Looks like maybe mid-june to early july.
  14. Wahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Now we will see who trains whom
  15. Well Frank, you tell that famous dude who lives near Nashville that I'm the boss in this area. He's likley a goat herder anyway. OH, and Nashville is only 128 miles from Choo Choo town!!
  16. You have entered the department of redundancy department. Yup, same stuff you filled out for the I-129f then again for the P4 and now for the I-485--BUT WAIT, there's more. They sent us notice of AOS interview and the form letter said to bring the I-864 and birth certs and marriage certs and W2s and tax returnes etc etc etc. I called UCIS and asked them if this was correct that i have to bring all the things to Memphis for the I-485 interview that I had jsut sent to Memphis for the I-485 interview-yup I do. And I have to bring proof that she is a K1 so i don't need an I-163, Go figure??
  17. Last week a friend of my near Houston had his wife take the written test. She did it oraly with a translater. The man who translated is a driving instructor who caters to Chinese. You may find your state receptive to this also. Even in Nashville we have a large chinese baptist church. I've called them (NO I didn't join) and got some great information on various things. Maybe if you can find a Chinese organization they will point you in the right direction.
  18. Yea phil, 74 days is pushing it, I think the limit is 76 days or close to that.. You can send in the EAD with your I-485 application. The EAD usually only takes a few months.
  19. She is wrong. married or not youa re eligib;e fro an SSN as long as the I-94 isn't over 76 days old-(76 days from the time she entered the country). go to a differnt SSA office and you will get a different tune. She is still a k1-married or not!!!
  20. When we did the biometrics thing it was electronic fingerprints and a picture. Both are the same under the category of biometrics-meaning life measurement.
  21. Fingerprints and biometrics are the same thing. You have to call and make an appointment.
  22. Holy cow man cool your jets. Cosmic lobster's comments were in no way offensive. It is the same kind of advice most people here would give. I used an attorney but I could have done it as well myself. I think your reaction is a little strong for what he said....IMHO... We're all after the same goal, let's not start any knife fights... Agreed, comsic dude meant no offense. You took it wrong-he is trying to be helpful. Soo, spend you money on a lawyer if it trips your trigger or do it yourself. It's your money. I spent mine on a lawyer and he screwed up on many things. I ended up doing it myself and got my darlin's visa in a total time of 9 months and twenty days after I filed. I sent everything to the lawyer and he had it for two months before he sent it to me for aproval-It was wrong-wasted two months! I re-did it in two days and filed it.
  23. UH, late June or early July???? Maybe I need consulte with the "boss".
