  1. Hi everyone, Thanks as always for all the help! I cannot thank y’all enough for the support and aid y’all have provided in this crazy process! We made it through the interview for her K1 just fine without the CCP membership being an issue. As we near the time to submit our I-485, I’m wondering if it’s necessary to frontload the application with the I-601 for the CCP membership or to wait and see if it ever becomes an issue. On a totally unrelated note, have any of your Chinese spouses changed their last names? It seems like that would cause issues with having a Chinese passport with a different name when traveling in the future. Thanks again everyone!
  2. Thanks for the replies everyone! I’ll be thumbing through that massive thread for awhile Fortunately, she only cares about her parents, Aunt, and cousin making it to the wedding so I don’t think that’s too big of a hurdled, but who knows! Keeping our fingers crossed!!
  3. We just got through my fiancee's interview and are very excited to say that it was a success. We plan on getting legally married at the courthouse as soon as we arrive in the U.S., but plan on having a ceremony at a later date. It is very important to both of us that her parents and other family members are able to attend the wedding. All her family members that would be coming have strong attachments to China, own an apartment, car, and all but her aunt have jobs. They shouldn't have any issues obtaining visitor visas, right? and is there anything we should know about applying for their visitor visas? I tried searching for a post addressing this, but I didn't come up with anything. Forgive me if this has already been posted about. Thanks for the help as always everyone! Your help really is invaluable!
  4. Visa approved!!! The questions they asked were: Have you been to the states before?Where did you meet? What does your fiancé do?Who’s going to pay for your wedding? Are you a member of the CCP?Are you still a member of the CCP?Why are you still a member?Approved! Thank you so so so much to everyone on this forum who has helped us make it through the process thus far! I know we're not through all the hoops yet, but thank you sincerely from the bottom of our hearts for all the help and reassurance that has been provided here. We couldn't have done it without everyone!
  5. We didn't receive your message in time to change from a black covered one to a clear covered one. Thankfully they didn't seem to mind!
  6. Perfect! That’s actually what we had prepared! I just got worried reading all the restrictions and wasn’t sure if they’d permit those to be brought in. They said no zip folders or briefcases, so I thought accordion organizers might not be permitted either. But very glad to hear they are!
  7. I was looking at all the restrictions for the consulate as to what you bring in and it really seems like you are expected to just carry all your documents in a huge stack which to me seems messy and likely to get dropped. What has everyone done in the past?
  8. Hey dnoblett! Thanks you so much for being so incredibly helpful! That certainly assuages my worries a bit. Honestly from all the experiences I had read regarding CCP membership, the result is what you said. I just was re-reading the CCP essay on the forums and noticed that had listed to prepare the I-601. Fingers crossed we don't have to deal with any administrative processing, but we're certainly prepared for it should it be the case. Thanks again!!
  9. I also realized that I do not have a personal check to attach to the I-601 should it be needed at the interview stage. Is she able to pay in cash in RMB? Thanks!!
  10. So we're quickly approaching the interview, and as such we're both starting to get nervous. I started worrying about the letters we prepared regarding her CCP membership. We used the letters in the CCP Essay document as a sort of template and I'm worrying if that will be an issue. We obviously edited and added to it to make it more relevant to our particular situation, but I still get a little worried. What do you all think? Also is it really necessary to prepare the I-601 at the interview stage for a K-1? I would think that usually comes into play at the stage of AOS. Which leads me to a follow up question, when we file for adjustment of status, should we go ahead and include the I-601 at that point? Thanks as always everyone! I can't tell you how much I appreciate all the help!
  11. Hi everyone, So I was just reading posts in the interview results section, as we’re getting close to my fiancée’s interview. The post said that their father was his co-sponsor but his father joint files taxes with his mom even though his mother doesn’t work. They said that his mom also had to fill out an I-834a. My father is also my cosponsor and my mother joint files taxes with him despite not working herself. Does that mean I need her to fill out an I-134 too?
  12. Hi Nick, I know this post is from forever ago, but I’m wondering was your wife a party member? We’re getting close to my fiancee’s interview and she’s starting to get worried about this.
  13. Awesome! Thanks for the help! I contacted them via email and they were surprisingly nice and helpful!
  14. Great! Thanks dnoblett! We're waiting to hear from the consulate at this point. She should expect something to come from the consulate in the mail correct? If so, we actually need to change the address it was sent to from the one on our original K-1...
  15. After talking with them just now, we found out that our application had already been sent to the embassy!! Yipee!! We couldn't be more excited!!
  16. Hi y'all! Thanks for the help! I'm about to give them a call! I was under the impression that with the K-1 I didn't need to submit any additional payment to the NVC at this time. Am I correct in assuming this?
  17. Hi everyone, I received my NOA2 finally on 2/23/18, but still have yet to receive anything from the NVC. The timelines on visajourney seem to indicate that I should have heard something by now, so I’m starting to get a little anxious. Anyone have any insight? Or suggestions on what I should do? Thanks!!
  18. Got it! I'll make sure to get the 出生公证书, or chu sheng gong zheng shu then. Thanks again for everyone's help!
  19. A couple notes. Police reports are considered valid for up to 6 months, so don't run out and get one too soon, best to do this a few weeks before the visa interview. Also if the report comes from the police office and needs translation she will need to take the report to the notary office and get it translated they will make a "white book" of it. Ah! Gotcha! Thanks for the notes! We'll run get the reports when we have the interview scheduled then!
  20. I guess my question is. Is the white book detailing the details of her birth sufficient, if it's coming from her hukou or a birth certificate? Would you mind linking to the "population Information Sheet" story? I didn't even think wikipedia would have an article on it. Thanks!
  21. Yeah that makes the most sense. I feel like I'm asking dumb questions, but it's just because I really don't want to mess anything up with this whole process. Thanks so much for the help!
  22. Great! That's super excellent news! I'll try police office. I'm sure she'll know that. Thanks!
  23. I have the option of "I am currently: Employed as an: Name of Employer (if applicable) Self-employed as an:" No exact section for unemployed. I'm thinking I will just put "self-employed as an unemployed."
  24. Awesome! Thanks so much! I am wondering about how I fill out the I-134 since I won't be employed. I feel like most of it will just be left blank...
