  1. My father in law got a 1 year visa because he works for a huge company that does tons of things but includes some sensitive industries. Mind you, he doesn’t do any sensitive stuff myself. However, is there hope for him ever getting a 10 year visitor visa? Cause it’s costly and a hassle for him to have to apply for a new visa every year!
  2. So the Inlaws are coming to visit for the first time! Woohoo! Her dad was wondering about the best way to access his money or exchange it? When I was in China, I always used CCB to withdraw money, cause I had BoA. I’m wondering if there’s a simple and easy way for him to be able to do the same kind of thing with his bank card in the states? My wife seems to think that if he gets a visa checking card from a Chinese bank it will be no problem, but I’m slightly skeptical. What do y’all know? Thanks as always for the help!
  3. Thank you for clarifying Randy! Can you send me a link on USCIS’s website that says after marrying she has lawful status here? I can’t seem to find anything that says that. I just find things that says if she marries within the 90 days she can apply to adjust status
  4. I will absolutely file it as soon as possible. But since you brought it up, her I-94 does expire in a few days. We’ve been married for almost 2 months now, but because the I-94 will expire, does that mean she will start accruing days of unlawful presence? If so we will need to mark the appropriate boxes on her I-485.
  5. Our whole application should be coming back to us within the next 30 days according to USCIS. So we will get her gong zheng certified translation here soon. I guess I was just worried about the 90 days thing. I thought we had to have married and filed within 90 days otherwise she is unlawfully present. But, if we have another 90 days to work with them I’m not worried at all. Thanks for the help!!
  6. Hi everyone, So we sent in our I-485 monday last week, and I called to try and check the status and I come to find out that the application was rejected, because we forgot to have her sign it. We had printed out so many iterations of it and signed them that I guess when we we're on the final one we were so exhausted from all the forms that we missed it. I feel like an idiot. Anyway, she came her on a K-1 and her 90 days are up on 9/10. We can't just put everything together tomorrow because we sent in her white book for her birth certificate. We could technically send in a copy of her original chinese birth certificate, but they are like scraps of paper practically. I don't think that they would be accepted. Plus they're obviously not in English. Has anyone dealt with an issue like this before? Are we totally screwed? Thanks!
  7. Thanks Randy we will frontload our application with relationship evidence and should an interview be warranted, we will make sure and bring evidence to it to! Thanks for the suggestions! I'm going to see about getting us a joint bank account now and she's been taking driving lessons so the license is on the way =] Thanks again! You all are such a great help!
  8. Well, I guess we will just submit, cross our fingers, and hope for the very best! By the way this leads me to a follow up question, I was reading on visajourney what is needed to submit with I-485 and it didn't list anything like evidence of continued relationship, which I kind of expected. Is it recommended by those on this forum that we pad our I-485 with more evidence of our relationship? Good golly gosh Greg! I can't believe you and your wife we're put through such a ringer! I'm so so sorry! No one deserves to go through anything like that, let a lone when a baby is involved! My heart goes out to you <3
  9. Congratulations! I think the filing fee is $930 and that it may complicate the processing of her I-485, since you would be CLAIMING inadmissability. if you are truly that concerned, you may wish to discuss her EXACT situation with a good immigration lawyer. Thanks!! We're super excited as you can imagine!! From what dnoblett and Greg have said regarding this, it might be best to send it in and see if anything comes back about the communist party thing. Like y'all said, we did make it through the K-1 interview where it very much came up, so hopefully it wouldn't be an issue at adjustment of status. I mean the conular officer deemed her admissible, so it would be pretty ridiculous that they don't deem her admissible at this stage. Plus all her responses were definitely entered into some file for her on the computer, so whatever AOS officer/official/whoever reads her I-485 will have access to that. Anyways, my only follow up to this would be, in the (hopefully) very unlikely case that she is deemed inadmissible, would we have an opportunity to submit the I-601 at that point?
  10. Hi y'all! I'm in the process of going through the I-485 with my now wife (tied the knot yesterday ) and I've gotten to Part 8 Question 1 which asks "Have you EVER been a member of, involved in, or in any way associated with any organization, association, fund, foundation, party, club, society, or similar group in the United States or in the world including military service?" It seems we would have to put down the CCP in this case, and because of this submit the waiver too. What do y'all think? Thanks for the help everyone!
  11. Well, that’s excellent news! We will file our I-485 include a copy of our DS 3025, and hope for the best! Thank you so much as always for the help and guidance!
  12. Thanks y'all! I think that clears things up a little bit more. I did some looking through the i-693 instructions, and it says: "3. What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical examination overseas? If you were admitted as a: A. K-1 fiancé...then: (1) You are not required to have another medical examination as long as you file your Form I-485 within one year of an overseas medical examination... (2) Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with the vaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will have to have the Part 9. Vaccination Record completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you must submit Parts 1., 2., 3., 4., 6., and 9. of Form I-693." So this seems to agree with what Randy was saying in that if we did do the I-693 now, it would be preemptively as this would only be needed if the DS 3025, that USCIS should have, was not completed properly. We will certainly include a copy of the DS-3025 with her AOS packet. My only concern is that she did not get the TDap vaccine when she was over there, because the staff at the Guangzhou medical exam hospital said they don't even have that vaccine in China anymore. However as I said in my first post, her DS 3025 is marked as "K Visa applicant voluntarily completed vaccination requirements". I'm just worried that this could come back later. What's the worst that can happen if they decide that she needs this and issue an RFE or something? It's not going to hurt her application would it? or cause her to be sent back or anything? I'm just thinking of worst case scenarios here...
  13. I’ll do my best to explain then. She received her MMR and varicella at the hospital in Guangzhou as well as a flu shot. She also didn’t revive the TDAP vaccine because they said they don’t even have that in China anymore (which I thought was pretty weird and ridiculous). They gave her a yellow book and one page of the DS-3025 along with the envelope which we turned into the consulate at her interview. I’m just trying to figure out whether or not we’re going to have to go through this whole CS thing.
  14. Well I was going to try and attach a photo, but I can’t seem to figure it out
  15. Here’s what we’ve got. I do believe her vaccination record is incomplete, despite it saying that the “K Visa applicant voluntarily complete vaccination requirements”. She also was told to return for the second half of the MMR and varicella vaccines, but we had already left Guangzhou at that point and are now in the states. Thanks for the help as always everyone!
  16. We definitely didn’t get a separate medical envelop so based on what Randy said, it should be in the big sealed envelope from the consulate. Great! We’ve got lots of pictures and evidence like that! Thanks for the help!!
  17. Awesome! So is that envelope really all we need then?
  18. I guess it’s also worth noting that she is traveling to the US on a K1 visa
  19. We’re finally headed to the US! I’m wondering if there’s anything we need to have prepared outside of the envelope the consulate gave us with her passport. I’ve looked at other posts about POE and it doesn’t seem like we do. I’m so used to having to prepare so many documents for every point in the process that I feel like I’m missing something. Thanks as always for helping me! I don’t know what I would do without everyone’s help!
  20. I was reading through posts that Randy and dnoblett linked to and one person was saying it was incredibly hard for them to cancel the subscription with italkbb having to go so far as contacting their credit card provider to stop payments to them. So I certainly would be hesitant! I also saw someone posting about using transocs and n2ping to get a Chinese IP address and unlock region locked content. That’s likely the method we’ll be using.
  21. Gotcha. I filled it out awhile ago just in case we needed it for the interview, so all I have to do is edit it so that it reflects her current status. I believe in TN, where we will get married, one can change last name as part of a legal act of marriage. But, it’s good to know it won’t cause any issues for her passport and travel in China. Is it even necessary to get an addendum to her Chinese passport?
  22. Awesome! It sounds like it won’t be too much of a problem using the internet to access everything. That’s certainly good news! The whole paying for cable again sounds rough, as I’ve long since cut that cord. And buying some box sounds finicky. Thanks everyone!’
  23. Hi, My fiancée and I are getting close to our move to the states and she starting thinking about being able to watch/stream Chinese TV while we’re in the states. From what I gather, all the websites are geolocked. Does anyone have any experience with this? Are there any good vpns with servers in China or things of that nature? Thanks!!
