  1. Hah i could see how that might come across as odd. Trying to actually send money to her parents, but her parents won't give us their bank information cause they don't want to take our money. So once it's in her ccb account, she plans on sending red pockets via wechat and guilting them into taking it lol Seems like the best course of action is for her to call ccb in advance to ensure there aren't any issues.
  2. That makes sense. I plan on sending a smaller amount, around $500, but will eventually be sending $10,000+. Question about receiving usd in the ccb account. My wife is in the US with me and her chinese phone number no longer works. Do you think this will be an issue? Or is it simple to convert the usd to rmb?
  3. Hi everyone, I'm a complete novice when it come to money transfer stuff. I plan to wire money using BoA to CCB. What's all this about sending USD as opposed to RMB? How does that work when the person in China receives USD in their band account with RMB in it? Thanks for the help!
  4. It certainly feels impossible to predict! But I'll follow the news and hope something changes later this year! Thanks Randy!
  5. Gosh that's really unfortunate. Any hope for that to change in the future?
  6. Checking in to see if there may have been any updates. My wife and I have been wanting to go visit her family back I'm China, but she understandably would prefer not to make the trip alone. We can manage to bear quarantine if that's the only way. I just don't even know if I can legally travel there as all I have is a tourist visa at the moment.
  7. I don’t know if we’ll end up with access to a Chinese vaccine here, but that is still something! Plus the article you linked in addition to that indicates that travel might be more feasible come October anyway, which is also really hopeful!!
  8. Hmm well I may contact the consulate and see what they say. We were thinking about going towards the end of the year, so hopefully there’s some movement in terms of regulations by then. Thanks Randy & Barfus!
  9. Hi everyone! As always, thank you everyone for all of your immense help in navigating the challenges associated with immigration and international marriage! I wasn’t sure if I should post this in “The Middle Kingdom” or here, but I’m wondering is there a visa as a spouse if a Chinese National that I could obtain that would allow me to travel to China during this whole Covid-19 thing? My wife really wants to go see her family and I don’t blame her! It’s been over a year of this thing! On another note, is there a visa for traveling to China in general specifically for spouse of Chinese nationals? Thanks again for the help!
  10. Thanks Randy! That makes me feel a lot better about going ahead and adding her to everything!
  11. Glad to hear it’s pretty straightforward! Bummer it’s taking so long, but ultimately I’m sure everything will be fine. Have any of you all had to renew a driver’s license while you’ve received the extension but are still waiting for the official one? That’s one of my concerns as well in terms of evidence, we have joint bank accounts, credit cards, and insurance. We do own a house, but I bought it before we got married. So, I’ve been lazy about adding her to it. Same goes for my car, but I think they’re both insured jointly. I could put all of this in both of our names, before we send in our application in April, but I do worry about how that might look right before the deadline. What do you all think? Thanks again everyone!
  12. Hi everyone! it’s been awhile since I’ve been on here, but I figured I’d jump on and get some advice. My wife’s conditional green card will expire in July, so we’re about to start preparing for her application for removing conditions, which is the I-751 if remember correctly. Do you all have any tips for this part of the process? Recommended evidence to provide? Or anything really? Thanks for the help as always! You have helped my wife and I, and so many others in this confusing and complicated journey! Thank you!
  13. Thank you!! Apparently the DHS one now directs people to the egov one. We were told to expect a decision later today or tomorrow. Status still says "Interview was Scheduled", but here's hoping it changes soon =]
  14. We had our interview today and we think it went really well! Our interviewer said that there wasn't anything that she was concerned about and that we should expect a decision in the mail in 1-2 weeks or we can check online sooner. Do we check for the status on the same website where we checked our case status before or is there a special interview page? The birth certificate thing was not an issue. We had a friend do a certified translation and brought the original certificate to the interview and the interviewer accepted it with no problem. Thank you everyone who has helped us through this process! Hopefully, we'll get the decision soon, and won't have to worry about immigration for another year and a half!
  15. We’ve got both the one child certificate and the medical birth certificate in US unfortunately. Without either of those the gong zheng chu is refusing to make gong zheng shu. Our thinking now is to have a friend do a certified translation for us for the interview and hope that that’s enough or that they still have our original gong zheng shu that we submitted with our I-485. Thanks again for all your help Randy!
  16. Fingers crossed they don’t demand it! We actually called the 公正处 for her city the other day and they said they couldn’t do it without her 出生医学证明 or one child paper. So, from what they’ve told us, we would have to mail those back to China and then have her parents send the 公证书 to us. But here’s hoping we don’t have to go through any of that!
  17. Thanks Randy! The 出生医学证明 that she has looks nothing like the one in your post. It’s just 2 small pieces of paper that has all the same information except no English. We’ll still bring it, but at this point we’re hoping that they have the original 公证书 that we submitted with our application.
  18. We also didn't make copies of the gong zheng shu, because it felt so fragile and we didn't want to destroy it...........
  19. Now that I think about it. I don't even know if we can get a gong zheng shu since we have the birth certificate we used for it in the first place with us here in the US
  20. Well we thought we were done with submitting birth certificates and needed to submit the original gong zheng shu like we had to for the K-1 Interview, so we're out of the 2 that we had gotten last year. We do have her birth certificate here, but it is from 1995. It's labeled 出生医学证明书. Do we really need to get another gong zheng shu? I mean this is ridiculous. Shouldn't they have the original copy with them at the interview? Thanks for the help with this situation and thanks for the advice on what to bring! I certainly will bring all of that then!
  21. Hi everyone! My wife and I just got our letter scheduling our AOS interview! We're very excited, and probably a little nervous. Looking at what the letter says to bring. It says that we need to bring her birth certificate. We've submitted two different gong zheng shus so far (one for K-1 Interview, and 1 for AOS application). We're all out of gong zheng shus now! Do they really expect us to give them a birth certificate translation for the 3rd time? If so, we have her original here, are there places in the US that will do a certified translation? Also it says to bring "All documentation establishing your eligibility for Lawful Permanent Resident status." What exactly does that mean? They ask for a bunch of specific documents and then they ask for that, so I'm confused. Do we need to bring a copy of our I-485? Any other things we should bring that aren't listed on the letter? What about tips for the upcoming interview? Thanks for the help as always everyone!
  22. My wife’s advanced parole was approved recently and we were thinking about traveling for a couple of weeks with my parents to visit my sister who is currently living in Europe. Do you think she will have any trouble being admitted to the US again? She would be traveling with me and going through customs with me, so I really can’t imagine there would be any issues.
  23. Hi everyone! I just had a friend approach me about having his now fiancée becoming a permanent resident. She is currently here in graduate school with a student visa, but they plan on marrying and then filing for adjustment of status. I found this visajourney page and I’m wondering if it covers everything that they need to submit or if there’s something special about AOS with a student visa. The page also mentions that some people are ineligible to file an I-130 and could be considered fraud. I don’t think this applies to their case, but thought I’d check with y’all to make sure. https://www.visajourney.com/content/i130guide2 Another thing is that she will graduate in May and was planning on using OPT to stay here longer. Would it be best to file for and receive the OPT before filing the AOS stuff? That way she could have permission to work before getting her EAD? Or does filing for AOS kill the OPT? One final question is regarding getting her 公证书 and police records, how do they go about doing since she is in the states? Thanks so much for your help everyone!! I’ll also direct my friend to this forum, I just wanted to get a head start on the questions and what he may need to do.
