Any news on travel to china?
mahko replied to mahko's topic in Communications, Planes, Shipping & Money
Yep...I just have a Q visa but issued before 3/2020. We had just heard from a friend in the government over there that he had heard they were starting to allow some Q visas again. -
Just wondering if there's anything new about travel to China. They said me wanting to go to Chengdu to help care for my mother and father-in-law 93 and 84 was not enough nor that I was an immediate family member being married to my wife who is a Chinese national citizen. But in their writing say a spouse IS an immediate family member. Anything new? Thanks!

Chinese evus equivalent to go to China

All I asked was how can I get to China. Explained the sitiation we are in. From what I've read China has relaxed the restrictions on visa holders that need to travel there to care for elderly family members. Wife's father is 93 and just had a stroke. This is when they suggested that was only for "immediate family". -

This is on the Chicago Consulate website but for some reason they say they can't help me. I reached out to the Chinese Embassy in DC but haven't heard anything. "2. The eligibility criteria for visa application "out of emergency humanitarian needs" will be broadened as appropriate. Foreign family members of Chinese citizens or permanent residents, including spouse, parents, children and other close relatives living together (i.e. siblings, grandparents and grandchildren), may submit visa applications for the purposes of reuniting with family, taking care of the elderly, visiting relatives, attending funerals or visiting critically ill relatives." -

Chinese evus equivalent to go to China

I just saw this... "Effective from 0 a m., 28 September 2020, foreign nationals holding valid Chinese residence permits for work, personal matters and reunion are allowed to enter China with no need for applying for new visas. If the above three categories of residence permits held by foreign nationals expired after 0 a.m., 28 March 2020, the holders may apply for relevant visas by presenting the expired residence permits and relevant materials to the Chinese embassies or consulates on the condition that the purpose of the holders' visit to China remains unchanged. The above-mentioned personnel shall strictly abide by the Chinese regulations on epidemic prevention and control." To me this suggests going to China to unite with family and care for them would allowed. -

My wife's daughter (Chinese national) said according to what she could find out about this mess is that yes covid is the reason but also the underlying fact that the chinese government will 'change' in 2023 and so they want to control what they can before that happens. That one was a new one to me. Don't know if that's just gossip or what. You would sure think a government that was for their people would've made an exception for family. Tourist? Sure limit that but why break up family if they comply with whatever they ask. We were going back to care for Babba and Momma who are 93 and 83. Babba just had a stroke and is wheelchair bound now and we need to be there. So sad and frustrating. Thanks for all the replys! -

Got this from a service in the know on such things." "China has not given any indication on if they will reinstate the previously issues visas or not. As such, we do not have any information at this time on when travel to China will resume." -

Hi, Does China require an American 10 year Q2 Chinese Visa holder who will be travelling to China, to fill out a form similar to the evus that is required for Chinese citizens to come into the US? Thanks!! Marc
