  1. Yep...I just have a Q visa but issued before 3/2020. We had just heard from a friend in the government over there that he had heard they were starting to allow some Q visas again.
  2. Just wondering if there's anything new about travel to China. They said me wanting to go to Chengdu to help care for my mother and father-in-law 93 and 84 was not enough nor that I was an immediate family member being married to my wife who is a Chinese national citizen. But in their writing say a spouse IS an immediate family member. Anything new? Thanks!
  3. All I asked was how can I get to China. Explained the sitiation we are in. From what I've read China has relaxed the restrictions on visa holders that need to travel there to care for elderly family members. Wife's father is 93 and just had a stroke. This is when they suggested that was only for "immediate family".
  4. This is on the Chicago Consulate website but for some reason they say they can't help me. I reached out to the Chinese Embassy in DC but haven't heard anything. "2. The eligibility criteria for visa application "out of emergency humanitarian needs" will be broadened as appropriate. Foreign family members of Chinese citizens or permanent residents, including spouse, parents, children and other close relatives living together (i.e. siblings, grandparents and grandchildren), may submit visa applications for the purposes of reuniting with family, taking care of the elderly, visiting relatives, attending funerals or visiting critically ill relatives."
  5. I just saw this... "Effective from 0 a m., 28 September 2020, foreign nationals holding valid Chinese residence permits for work, personal matters and reunion are allowed to enter China with no need for applying for new visas. If the above three categories of residence permits held by foreign nationals expired after 0 a.m., 28 March 2020, the holders may apply for relevant visas by presenting the expired residence permits and relevant materials to the Chinese embassies or consulates on the condition that the purpose of the holders' visit to China remains unchanged. The above-mentioned personnel shall strictly abide by the Chinese regulations on epidemic prevention and control." To me this suggests going to China to unite with family and care for them would allowed.
  6. My wife's daughter (Chinese national) said according to what she could find out about this mess is that yes covid is the reason but also the underlying fact that the chinese government will 'change' in 2023 and so they want to control what they can before that happens. That one was a new one to me. Don't know if that's just gossip or what. You would sure think a government that was for their people would've made an exception for family. Tourist? Sure limit that but why break up family if they comply with whatever they ask. We were going back to care for Babba and Momma who are 93 and 83. Babba just had a stroke and is wheelchair bound now and we need to be there. So sad and frustrating. Thanks for all the replys!
  7. Got this from a service in the know on such things." "China has not given any indication on if they will reinstate the previously issues visas or not. As such, we do not have any information at this time on when travel to China will resume."
  8. So if i could get the current Q2 voided and get another Q visa I could go to China. But...they arent issuing Q visas?
  9. Thanks Randy. Will have our family there in Chengdu make some calls to see what they can find out on that end.
  10. Can a person apply for another visa...Q1 this time for the ability to stay longer than 180 days? Have there been any suggestions on when past visas will be honored? Thanks for the replies Randy!!
  11. So...my wife heard that I must send my passport in and have my visa page stamped by I assume the Chinese Counsulate? to be able to get into China now. Don't know much else than this. Searched and found nothing.
  12. Hi, Does China require an American 10 year Q2 Chinese Visa holder who will be travelling to China, to fill out a form similar to the evus that is required for Chinese citizens to come into the US? Thanks!! Marc
  13. Quick question. Is it possible now? Planning on retirement there soon or part time. Any knowledge of this or thoughts would be appreciated. Just an average human. Not rich. We're both artists looking for a quiet life. Wife has her home there. Thanks!!
  14. Hey, Was wondering...wife's daughter is staying with us for a few months because her university is all online and we wanted her to save some money on rent when they don't even have in person classes. She has her 10 year green card. Is this considered a change of address? She's having her mail sent here but only staying for a few months. Was she supposed to let USCIS know? Thanks!
  15. Thanks for the replies!! So Randy...is the residence permit a slam dunk you're always going to get? My concern would be the ability to deny at some point down the road? Course they can deny a green card too.
  16. Hi, Was wondering if anyone has info or has gone through getting a Chinese green card? In reading, it suggests they can be granted upon 5 years of 9 months of living there. My wife is a Chinese citizen. We have a home and stable retirement income but she's retired and I will July of this year. Now in America. We assume she'll lose her green card with me having to be in China for 9 months of the years. Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated!! Have a great day!!
  17. Hi, Our daughter, Chinese national, green card and student in San Francisco, is in need of reasonably priced health insurance for while she is here. Has anyone had experience with this? I would think there might be programs that would take everything into consideration i.e. woman, minority, student. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!
  18. I guess my biggest question is whether they will allow her to land in San Francisco then sit around there for a 14 hour layover, then jump on a flight to Chicago and then drive 4 hours to Wisconsin and THEN quarantine. Seems like where you would first land is where they would want you to quarantine and not fly to another city across the country. Thanks for the reply!
  19. Hi, Well my wife is still in China. One flight was cancelled. Now waiting till end of July for another. But here's a question. She always flies into Chicago but this flight she will fly into San Francisco first then to Chicago. Has anyone heard about quarantine stipulations. In other words, can she fly into San Francisco then to Chicago and then drive home with me to self quarantine at our home? Any help would be appreciated!!
  20. Thanks for the replies! Her flight is July 3rd nonstop Chengdu to Chicago. Air China. I suppose she could fly to another country then take a non Chinese airline to the US.
  21. So...I just read that neither the US or China will now allow any flights between countries. China restricted the number of flights from the US to China to the number of flights at a specific date and at that time all flights had been suspended because of the virus. So basically no flights are allowed because at this date no flights were being flown. If 10 flights were being flown they'd allow 10 flights now. So now trump is saying he's not allowing any flights by Chinese airlines to come into the US. Anyone heard anything more about this?
  22. I had chills with extremely violent shaking. 15 minutes later 103 temp. Heart rate was 100 and labored breathing (probably from the heart rate). Hospital said to come in and get tested as I had many of the classic symptoms of covid. 65 y/o but no underlying issues. Tested negative!! I'm never sick. Haven't missed a day of work for 13 years. Doctors had no idea what it was.
  23. She is in China. Has a reserved ticket for July 3rd with China Air direct from Chengdu to Chicago no stops. Your link for Green Card Holders isn't working. Seems like just having as much proof as possible of ties here is the one thing she'll need differently. That and they say you need to have contact information for your medical provider so they can check on you but from what I've read, the move through customs for a lot of people includes nothing different than a regular entry. I understand she has to be ready for it, but many say they basically just get pushed through. But I just wanted to see if anyone had heard of anything extra. Thanks as always for the replies!! Be safe!!
