  1. Can't speak from experience regarding whether or not the Japanese women's behavior is on target, but the Chinese women are accurately described.
  2. Being a white male in China is just like being a kid in a candy store. Unfortunately, most men never leave the store to face life one on one.
  3. You have to be careful to avoid all the scuttlebutt in China when it comes to talk of Visas for foreigners. I had a Z-Visa in China for five years and, quit my job in December 2012. I had my Z-Visa in hand before quitting, which had an expiration date in mid-May 2013. They are not cancelled, but simply expire. I returned to the US for a few months in May 2013, and then went back to China on a tourist visa to live in Guangzhou for another year.
  4. To obtain 30-day free trial of Adobe Acrobat Pro: https://acrobat.adobe.com/us/en/free-trial-download.html Instructions to change Adobe Acrobat Pro settings to reduce PDF file size https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/optimizing-pdfs-acrobat-pro.html
  5. There is no need to have such large file sizes for PDF documents. You can download a 30-day trial copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro for free and modify the optimize settings to ensure downsampling to 72 dpi. Then, it's simply a matter of optimizing. I had a well-over 100 page document that saved and optimized to under 4-megabytes. The trade-off is quality, but if you play with it a bit you can find the narrow groove that produces a clean an legible document for on-screen viewing. 72 dpi is all that's necessary and most PDF application default settings are well over that so you'll need to change it to get smaller file sizes. The documents I sent to the NVC that were over 5-megabytes were automatically returned and failed for being too big.
  6. Unless you're in a remote city, BFE, get online and search for sports bars and parties. Never had a problem finding somewhere to watch a game in Nanjing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen or Xiamen. Most bars advertise well in advance, and it also helps to scout out the local expats.
  7. Baiyun Mountain yesterday. Unbelievable! http://i68.tinypic.com/1z55dad.jpghttp://i64.tinypic.com/1z4ie88.jpg
  8. It snowed in Guangzhou today. First time since 1929.
  9. I like your idea of compiling and organizing all documents into a single PDF file with the barcoded cover sheet and cover letter at the top. However, the NVC Document Scanning FAQs are specific that separated files be submitted for each document, "Create a separate file for each document, including all of its pages and both sides of double-sided documents. Do not include multiple documents in any scan file". In your case, did you submit all documents compiled into a single PDF? Did you have any problems with NVC because of this? Thanks for your help, HotBaozi. Good find on the NVC website. I didn't see it when I submitted our paperwork. So, I compiled everything as previously described and separated each section with a separate and titled cover sheet labeled "Attachment A, -- Beneficiary Marriage Certificate" and so on. However, now it is clear they didn't want that. But, they accepted it anyway. They likely get all manner and sort of documents submitted every which way as they are accepting people into this country whether they come in the front door or the southern border without a damn piece of paperwork to show for it. Anyway, it looks like you're doing the right thing and even finding things I didn't see. I'm not sure if the link you provided is new content or not as I didn't see it before.
  10. Chat record content is personal and so are email. Instead phone records that show number dialed and duration is a better option. Receipts from travel, restaurants with dated photos that depict you both together. Family gatherings are especially helpful.
  11. Suggest you compile the complete package into ONE single file and create a cover letter that lists the complete contents. I strongly suggest you avoid sending separate files even if they are as multiple attachments in a single email as it increases the chances of NVC losing them. Make sure the barcode sheet is always page one. Download a trial copy of Adobe Acrobat from the Adobe website, which is good for 30 days. Using acrobat enables you to combine single files into ONE file. When all is in one file in the order you want save and optimize so the file size is less than five megabytes
  12. After having lived in China for six years it didn't take long to learn that a Western white face is a high priority for single Chinese women. It's now well-known that a Western man in China has pretty much his pick of the litter. So many website girls seek contact with a Western man and know nothing about him before moving the conversation to marriage. That's a lot of weight to bear for a man whose unfamiliar with the crazy China exodus syndrome. It's takes careful discretion and discernment to determine the intention and wherewithall of the feeding frenzies. I love China and Chinese people, but it's important to remain objective, focused and aware of what is happening in China today. There are loads of women who will seek to marry a man they just met and don't even know his name. The only criteria is that he is Western, and white. Be aware and awake.
  13. Visa in hand. B2 cancelled without prejudice.
  14. Pet transport from China turns out easier and cheaper than anticipated. Only requirements are proof of rabies vaccination no less than 30- days of departure, microchip inserted, and certfied pet carrier. Many flights allow passengers to bring pet in cabin using an on-board carryon for pet and place under the seat, small dogs and cats only under 20 pounds. There is a 200 USD fee that must be paid at the airport prior to departure. Will book tickets tomorrow. Shots and microchip done yesterday.
  15. Visa ready. Wife will pick up today. Cannot believe prices to ship a cat. $5,500.00 bucks China door to USA airport. Crazy money. Any suggestions welcome
  16. We're almost there. The CEAC visa status just changed: http://i66.tinypic.com/sv42ua.png
  17. It was a huge boost to get the approval, but delaying even spoken celebration until after she has the Visa in hand. For now, she's going through her home deciding what she will ship. She plans to ship her piano and some fine furniture pieces. Shipping will also include her cat at a cost of over 20k yuan, over 3000 dollars. She's got to take the cat to Shenzhen for a blood test, then if all good they will ship the cat three months later.
  18. Right. Well, there is an upcoming option. I love this video: I think it's best to wait until my wife has her visa in hand before I write much more about her experience.
  19. Thanks tsap. I will write more later about the interview after work. Suffice it to say it was not typical.
  20. We were given two options by US immigration: persevere or give up. We are not the sort of folks that quietly submit to tyranny.
  21. After almost three years of government tyranny and abuse http://i67.tinypic.com/244ry45.jpg
  22. Attorney Marc Ellis states: "Presenting a new I-864 at the interview is acceptable. The old one cleared the NVC. I've never seen an I-864 returned to NVC from a consulate." The only reason we would present a new one is learning yesterday the form expired in March 2015. However, the NVC accepted it anyway. Eunice states that the consulate is only accepting the current release of I-864 since a couple of months ago, which differs from Marc Ellis opinion.
  23. It appears I incorrectly believed that GZ conoffs may give a thumbs up or down when a Chinese wife submits a live signed copy of the I-864 and supporting documents that the husband submitted to the NVC. However, a legal source has informed me that conoffs do not readjudicate financial documentation already approved by the NVC. Any thoughts from ocd observers?
  24. Details schmetails. Every swinging dong who works overseas must submit a tax form every year regardless of income. If you paid taxes in the foreign country then you cannot be taxed again in the USA. Still, you must submit the form even if you owe zero, zip, nada, zilch.
