  1. This is what I have written so far. Does this look alright and is the address in Shanghai correct? To: American Counsulate General Mei Long Zheng Plaza 8th Floor Shanghai, China 200001 Subject : Issuance of visitors visa for my friend Dear Visa Officer, My wife and I would like to invite our friend, XXXXX to visit our home in my address for 4-6 months, so she may visit my wife and daughter. While here we would like to take her to visit Orlando, FL, Miami, FL, and Tampa, FL. During her stay she will be residing with my family and I at our home in Lecanto, Florida. Bubba
  2. The visa that my wife is wanting to work on now is for the classmate. Her sister will be traveling here maybe next year. Is there any difference between what is need for a friend? Would the process for friend or family be the same?
  3. Now a few of my wife's friends want to come visit but only for the 6 month visa. Is there any difference in the letter or forms needed to fill out? Is there a working link to the I-130 form. The one I found here appears to be a dead link. Also will the people applying have to report to Shanghai, Beijing or Guangzhou for the visa interviews? My wife and I had to go through Guangzhou. Feels weird having to do all this again. I think my wife is conspiring to bring her whole graduation class over for holiday. Our house is only so big...lol Bubba
  4. The Buick GS was a pretty hot car. I really like the Pontiac GTO's of that era. I hated to see GM drop the Pontiac name plate. I always enjoyed the styling of those cars. Bubba
  5. The wife would like to invite her Sister to stay with us for a while. I believe I seen a letter posted on the boards somewhere but I can't find the link. If someone could please post the link to the letter I would greatly appreciate it. Bubba
  6. My wife would like her Sister to come and live in the U.S. I'm sure this can be done but I'm unsure how to get the ball rolling? Her sister is 57 and retired. I'm guess the wife and I would be the sponsors. Bubba
  7. The wife asked me how long it would take before she could get a US Passport. I didn't know and thought it was a good question. How could she go about getting a U.S. Passport? Bubba
  8. My wife and I will be married for 2 years in March. Can we apply for the 10 year green card then or do we have to wait for 2 years at the end of the current green card to apply? Also when can my step-daughter apply for her 10 year green card?
  9. Step daughter received her green card yesterday. All is well.
  10. Ok, we got everything straightened out. Now I have a question. My daughter received her third "Welcome" Notice of Action letter. How many should she receive until she receives her green card. The wife received 1 "welcome" letter and a NOA letter then the green card all within a week. Why is there such a delay for the stepdaughter?
  11. I'm trying to enroll my stepdaughter in school but the school says she can't go to school until she gets her green card. She's received her welcome letter last week but nothing sense. We arrived in the country back in June. The wife has her green card but not the stepdaughter. How long should we wait before I follow up on where it's at? Anyone else have any problems enrolling their kids in school?
  12. Green card has arrived for the wife. So far we've heard nothing about the stepdaughter. Wife is happy...lol
  13. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh ok, I know the wife had to get some sort of shot when she arrived in the states. I thought that was what it was about. I'll reread the letter and look for ADIT.
  14. We're in the states, waiting on Green Cards and the wife receives a 2 letters from the INS one is a Welcome letter and the other is a notice of action. I believe it's for Biometrics. She knew about this before we left China. I believe the letter said a future letter would give her an appointment and a location she needs to go to. The letter came from the Texas office. Since we're in central Florida will the location be in Florida? Just curious if anyone else had to do Biometrics after they arrived.
  15. I'm not sure where to post this but I'm getting worried. It'sd been 3 weeks since my wife and step-daughter arrived in the country. The green cards have yet to arrive. The Social Security cards have arrived but no green cards. What is the normal wait time for the cards to arrive? Bubba
  16. We have received the Social Security cards but not the green cards. The green cards I know are being mailed to our current address. The Social Security cards went to the old address. What do we need to do to change the address for Social Security and I thought there was one other form that I had to change the address for? Maybe it was to change the address for the agency that is in charge of the I-864? We took a 3,100 mile road trip. I think my wife and step daughter are quite impressed. However I think it will be some time before I can coax them into the car again...lol Bubba
  17. We leave for LA in 30 days. When we land at LAX what should we expect? We're very excited and looking forward to the new adventure.
  18. I thought it was bogus but with US tax law even crazy stuff can be believable...lol
  19. OK, this is what someone told me. They heard this from someone else, who heard it from some else... If a person emigrates to the US and starts a business. They do not have to pay taxes on that business for 7 years. My question is has anyone else heard this? I have asked 2 CPA tax people this but no one seems to know the answer. I was wondering if this was the reason for so many Chinese restaurants in the US...lol
  20. OK, I'll wait on the AR-11 until later. The A #'s match up fine. If we change the address at point of entry is there a chance they could be denied entry? Not sure just heard a few horror stories about people wanting to make changes and being denied entry. I think we'll just wait until we're actually through all that then make the changes.
  21. Another issue that has come up. My stepdaughters guangzhou case number does not match the number in visa inside the passport. Is this going to be a problem later? My wife's numbers match up. My daughters A- number matches but not the case number.
  22. Received the passports and brown envelopes today. Now to pay for those green cards. Kind of confused on the AR11 they are asking how long lived at address and where entered into the US. What should I put in this area since neither of them have ever been to the US. Also the address that I list should it be my dad's address where I want the green card to go or to my house? Should it be my dad's address first then mine as Last Address? Also should I leave blank the entry into the US boxes since neither of them have ever been in the US before?
  23. I checked the box to issue a social security card. Does that come with the green card or is there something else that needs to be done? Looking forward to getting everything going for the green card. Since my fathers address has changed from the DS-230 to now, when do I fill out the AR-11 form? After I pay for the green card or before?
  24. Strange at our document intake the Chinese worker didn't ask my wife or stepdaughter any questions just took the paper work. I guess it's all in who you see at the window.
  25. OK new problem when do I pay for the visa online? The wife says I do not pay till after we receive the passports back in the mail. This just doesn't seem right to me?
