  1. I am Chinese. I do check on the dates of food and medicine before I take them. I do not check on the expiration dates of canned food that were already stored in the cupboard though since they are for earthquake emergency only.
  2. 1.Your wife's medical examination paper is good for 1 year till her AOS interview. 2.If she had the vaccination done in China, she should have a copy of vaccination form that was given to her and a yellow booklet that shows the date and vaccinations. 3. Go to a civil surgeon, and have them fill out the vaccination form ( given by BCIS). You will have to pay 20 bucks for office visit ( if you have insurance)..if not, they would charge you a normal price, usually 40 bucks. 4.All the medical forms and vaccination forms she did in China were sealed in that yellow envelope that was handed to customs when she entered U.S. by the time of your interview AOS, the officer should have all the files there.
  3. That sounds like an interesting movie. I am also looking forward to seeing it. My husband and I went to the movies last night..." Harry Potter"..it was a good movie.but british english is hard to understand!!! The movie theater looks the same as the one in the city in my hometown, same lay-out, same fancy prices and pop corn!
  4. I just started working for a big american company. It was not stressful as i expected. I realised I tend to push myself too hard for no reason. So i just relaxed and told myself everything is fine. It was not easy to get this job. I had to pass several written tests, which is a comprehensive test of your understanding ability, your computer skill and ect. Then I was interviewed by the personnel dep., then by my supervisor. It is all about how well you present yourself and how good your english is. Language is the basic thing. You cannot make the test if your english is not good enough because you are competing with native speakers or people that have been here for a very long time. I started speaking english at a very young age about 11 years old. But studying English in China is somehow different than learning the language here in the U.S. I know in this way it is even more difficult for me. There are certain things i am still learning. I wrote down words i did not understand at work so i could look them up at home or ask my collegues. I accept the fact in this way i am less competitive but the only thing i can do is to keep learning and that is the only way to move on. P.S. The company i work for verified my school records, my work records, my police record before they finally hired me. I also passed a drug test. I had no idea how but it is good to bring copies of your notarized school record, work record and police record to the U.S. Just in case you might need them. My EAD will expire the end of this year and i am still waiting for my AP and AOS letter. I hope to get everything done before it expires because i do not want to be quit working for pending AOS reasons. I know I cannot worry about things that will not happen overnight. Relax..relax...i keep telling myself Does anyone know how to renew EAD anyway? I filed to local office so there is no receipt number.
  5. Entering the U.S. at LAX I flew to LAX, U.S. with China Eastern Airlines all by myself. It was a safe and peaceful flight. With very few people on that plane I actually found some seats and took a nap. Bring every document instructed on your immigration paper. It was lots of trouble carrying that big chest Xray film, but you never know if they want to look at it;
  6. Going back to China to continue a Master degree? You will have to wait at least 1 month to get an AP..in some states maybe even longer. Without an AP you won't be able to get back to the U.S. What is the point waiting so long to be with your loved one and then seperate again? You can go to school in the U.S. too
  7. Dave,thank you for putting this on for us. Although it was all history, we could never forget what Japan did to chinese people in the world war II. It is a shame such a small country like Japan invaded all the way into China and raped her. Our goverment did not take the official compensation from Japan ; Japan went up all the way after the war in its construction and economy without having to compensate a cent for its military crime yet China was far behind. And now it does not even admit the crime, on the hand expanding its military expenses; getting involved in Iraq affairs... But all my collegues that have been to Japan say that country is small, clean and very organized. That nation has many good points we should learn from. Hardworking, dilligent and unity. I wonder had it not been the initial war in China between China communist party and Guomindang Party back in the 30s, would Japan ever have had the chance to invade China? Unity, the spirit of a nation. On the occasion of my homeland's 54th birthday, I wish the world peace and dignity.
  8. hi all, if my fiance entered the US on a k-1 visa and her entry form stated not authorized to work. when she files for her SS number does she check not authorized to work? then it asks why you need a SS number? do we wait till we marry next month and file after we change her adjustment of status? after we marry does that make her eligable to work if we file the work permission form? please help
  9. Yes,you might have known a Chinese woman for several years. But do you really think you know us chinese woman and our culture? We were brought up in 2 different cultures, even if in the same culture, there are still many differences among different people. As i can read from the"poor lady" post, she seems to be a girl that had hope and dream for the new life in the USA. It is not an easy matter if she wants to go back to China or not, it is not as simple as some of you american guys think here. Getting married with an american has already gained her lots of attention and pressure from family, friends; letting aside the shame and embarrassment of telling them her american fiancee dumped her. How many of us,no matter chinese or american have the courage to tell? Chinese women vary from each other. I am proud to be a modern chinese woman and is always proud of my homeland. I came to the U.S, not because of the blue visa, but because i want to be with my american fiancee. Do I want to leave my work in China and my parents and the dog? I definately do not want it. We love our country as much as you do for your homeland. Thanks for the understanding of my fiance, he has been doing so much to make me feel at home. And i have been here in the U.S for just about 4 days. I gave up all i have had in China. I am fully aware of the possible difficulty getting a good job here in the U.S, yet i have the confidence in myself. It is just a matter of toally new beginning and i am ready for it. I see from many couples here in candleforlove, the true love and willingness to be together at any cost. We are equal in everyway. It is not because of the green card that made us want to be away from home, it is our hope and joy to be with our loved ones in america. Why american man instead of Chinese man? Well, cause he never hesitates to show his love and passion for me; he is honest and trustworthy; he is responsible; and it just happened to be like this that we would meet and fall in love and get married for a committment. I believe many of you share the same idea as I do here. I am proud of my chinese sisters, who have had the courage to leave the homeland and start in a totally new country for the sake of love. I feel sorry for the poor lady. She has done nothing wrong. In any case her american fiance is reponsible to take care of the case since he waited all those time to tell her NO after her arrivial. She has the right to make her decision wheather to stay here or not. No matter if she is coming back to candleforlove or not, I wish her all the very best, since i totally understand her difficulty and embarrassment.
  10. Apart from the material proof, like pictures and phone bills, the interviewee's attitude and response to VO's questions are also considered important. A professional VO does not only judge on the material proof the interviewees gives. It would be a better idea to ask how she responded to the VO's questions and try to find what was wrong , rather than hiring another attorney in China. Good luck!
  11. oh,hi don..My fiance told me you got the interview date..congratulations and good luck!!!! Thanks for the prompt response, i am still unpacking things. Oh..i saw a member here turned in 4 or 5 copies of birth certificates? Do you know if i can just make a copy of my notorized birth certificate? I only have 2 original notorized birth certificates. Thanks Say hi for us to your sweetie. I was in shanghai yesterday and now in the U.S hehe. Good luck!
  12. hi,all. I finally landed in the U.S:) I brought 2 notorized birth certificates, but they are not those from my chinese resident book. They are the same with the one i brought to Guangzhou for interview. I wonder if this notarized copy would do when i change my status? Or do i have to get a copy from my chinese book? but they won't be able to read chinese anyway? Will the copies of notarized birth certificates do? Also, the customs official took away my brown envelope. I do not have it now. Is it the right procedure? thank you.
  13. i wonder why further work needs to be done in the 1st white slip case you are talking about? I mean we all know for k1 applicants, namecheck is done before the interview. Does it happen in special case? or indeed GZ has started a new procedure? Thanks.
  14. hi,james. The 1st and the 2nd packages both comes from the U.S. Guangzhou sends out the 3rd and the 4th packages. If your fiancee's namecheck has not been cleared in the U.S, you would not likely to receive NOA 2 ( which we call the 2nd Package, Notice of Action) and thus they would not be able to forward it to Guangzhou. Try to call the National Visa Center or Department of State and inquire about your case.
