My darling just got her envelope back from the hospital and told me all about it about it a few hours ago. The paperwork clearly says that they are not required for the K1 visa at least, and hence it was not an issue. The doctor was professional, and although she had to wait for a long time to be seen, everything went smoothly and quickly once she was seen. I am not sure about the other visas however. I should inquire more at a later point, but I was just happy to hear that this part of the problem is over. Basically, you need to have the vaccinations completed somewhere through the AOS process (if you are doing the K1 visa route). I have read up on all of those papers, but since my darling's interview is in one week, I have not ever filed them, so hopefully someone else can comment on that. vaccination for k1 is not required, however you may also consider having it done while in China since this is needed anyway for her AOS after she is in the U.S. It is more affordable to have the vaccination done in China. Make sure no pregnancy in the first 3 months after she gets the vannication.

I own a 2 bed room condo in China. Actually i have never heard about insurance on a home in China, not like in the U.S. where home insurance is almost a necessity. My mom takes care of the condo for me. She rents it out and as of this year the rent income would be a profit since the investment has been paid off. It makes me feel better that this property is bringing my parents some extra income although they do not really need it. In the Chinese culture, we always have a responsibility to take care of our parents. However my mom said if we decide to move back and live for a period of time in China, we can stay in my condo. I belive if you are a foreigner, you definitely need to register at the local security office if you plan to stay in an apt, or any other private residential property.

Hi,all! With our first child coming in the end of Sep, 2005..I start to wonder how to teach him/her Chinese. Does anyone here have the same experience? Actually with him/her born in the U.S. as a U.S. citizen, I do not know how long the child is allowed to stay in China. I want him/her to spend some years in China.

I registered for spring semester at a community college. I was one of those who had to make another trip to provide evidence of residency here. The document I brought : Part A: Proof of legal status 1. my passport 2. my green card 3. letters from immigration bureau which showed my AOS application . Part B: one year of residency 1.my paycheck stub 2. my driver's licence For application to a local university, if you are applying for graduate degree, GRE/GMAT score needed, school records in orginal language/translation with official seal needed.. you may check under " international student" for more info.

Actually many chinese prefer to use toilets without the seat top, because it is cleaner. Thinking about you sit on the top that everyone else has been sitting on? Here in the U.S., bathrooms are equipped with paper seat covers and that helps a lot; In Germany, I happened to sit on a toilet that has an automatic seat cleaning sys. The seat moves around by itself. In Beijing Airport, most toilets are western style; however you would see chinese ladies line up for Chinese toilets.

You can search online for international travel insurance. It does not cover regular doctor visit, however it covers ER. You may also look for temporary medical insurance, i am not sure if it works without a SSN. As you know, your fiancee cannot get her SSN as soon as she lands in the U.S.

Big banks like Bank of China should have business like that. However you need to provide her with your bank account and ect. There should be form she can fill out when send money to the U.S, including bank code , account name and number... or she can buy traveller checks in U.S dollars and send them to you.

When she applies for a community college, she needs to fill out a registration form, including on what type of visa she entered the U.S, her status with BCIS and etc.The college will decide if she qualifies for residency. If she doesn't, she needs to provide more evidence; if she is still denied, she may req. non-resident tuition exemption. If she takes english courses, she needs to take an language assessment test.

Thanks,Richard. I did call the college today and explained my confusion. They told me I should be elig. for resident fee however they may req. more information. They do require at least 1 year and 1 day residency in CA. I would be happy to go back to school and take some accounting courses. I figured out a more technical job that does not require much of writing and speaking would be good I like dealing with numbers anyway. Plus if we do move back to China, accountants in foreign firms are always needed!

Does any know if someone entered with K1 visa is eligible to pay just resident fee? I think you have to be living in a certain state for at least one year to meet that criteria. Is it one year from the day you entered U.S. with K1 visa? or one year from the day your status is adjusted ( your conditional green card issued)? Non-resident tuition costs almost 10 times more than resident fee.. Thanks.

My mother in law has a dog named" Princess". One day she told me princess had an accident when they moved to a new place; i thought princess was injured, then she told me it meant something different, eg "poop" .Another time my parents in law, my husband and I went for a short trip together, they left the dog in a pethouse playing with other buddies all day along. She said" Princess must be pooped out!". "what? she would poop in the pethouse?" They all laughed and told me "pooped out" means very tired. But things have changed so much, black is always in the fashion trend! About the Number" 250", it has nothing to do with bad luck at all! It actually means something like" dummy". I am also looking into that procedure to get my mom over here for a visit. Here is what you can do. 1.Send your mom an invitation letter. She needs to bring it to local office to get her passport, including envelope, with your address and stamp on it. 2.Go to any BCIS webiste, check on B1 visa. 3. Download forms and fill out for your mom ( leaving the signature blank) if she does not read English. 4. YOu may also want to send her proof of your income in the U.S., financial statement if you are the sponsor for her trip to the U.S. 5. SHe also needs proof that she will not overstay in the U.S. eg, work, property, family ties and ect) 6. Once she has her passport and everything ready, she can go to the relavant U.S. consulate or embassy for interview. ( i am not sure if she has to call to make app. or she can just walk in) PS. where do you live in the U.S.? I live in LA. I wish i were able to see the running rivers and greens and red leaves here.
