  1. For your wife, the answer if "yes"', she was inspected upon entry into the US. Can you say "papers please"?
  2. After having UPS take a month to deliver (to a spot where they said they serviced but didn't), to having my FedEx gifts age in a warehouse in Shenzhen, to having to pay exorbitant customs duties with DHL, I have nothing but praise for USPS Global Express. I can't vouch for Global Priority, but I have been more than satisfied with USPS.
  3. In Georgia, my step son needed his county vaccination forms completed. His English proficiency determined where his was placed in high school. Since his English was nil, he started out in what is called ESOL (English to Speakers of Other Languages) where the emphasis was on English proficiency but also included math, science, and a few other core subjects.
  4. David's FAQ's list one topic about taking the exam in Shanghai: A.1.15.5 Shanghai Hospital Procedure explained: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=10744&hl= Joanne has recently supplemented this information: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13440
  5. Because Jingwen's interview came on the heels of a holiday, she went to Guangzhou about two weeks in advance. The results were waiting for us when we returned a couple of days before the interview. Jingwen was pleased with Health Care Center of Guangdong International Travel - prompt, courteous, and efficient. We ended up going back after the interview for vaccinations. In response to HanLi's post, here is a listing of all the facilities in the area: http://www.usembassy-china.org.cn/guangzho...edicalexam.html Other cities also have facilities.
  6. Yes, and there's even a separate forum (AOS & Immigration Challenges) Nah. Not unless you want to use a lawyer. That depends on how significant your Cheetos withdrawal will be.
  7. Wise and thrifty ! 162548[/snapback] If Don's wife is like mine, that'll add up to a lot of savings over the next month or so.
  8. Jingwen is a moral person but not necessarily a religious person.
  9. We cleared immigration and customs at SFO. 3 1/2 hours should give you plenty of time to make your connection. I went through the same line as Jingwen and the kids. The length of time really depends on where you are in the line. Typically, it moves fairly quickly. Customs was routine despite carrying half of China's goods, wares, and merchandise, aka Jingwen's clothings, etc. Again, the length of the process is more dependent on how quickly your luggage comes out on the carousel. I always suggest to folks that they complete the paperwork (customs form and I-94) while on the plane. It's a lot easier than trying to do it while standing in line. And, make sure you've got the brown envelope and x-rays with you - don't check them. I'm still wondering about the x-rays though. Nobody has ever looked at them, and Jingwen has her green card now.
  10. A number of the churches here in Atlanta provide Buddhist services in addition to Christian services tailored to the Asian community. Maybe the services in Greensboro are the same.
  11. Hey Lee, did you follow the process laid out by one of our more knowledgeable members? http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...ndpost&p=144957
  12. Those mysterious namechecks. Glad it's over. Hopefully, the P4 will arrive soon. Good luck.
  13. Looks like you've got your bases covered. I'm with the others here. I don't particularly like third part services - you can do it yourself. On the G-325A, Jingwen provided all the information to me which I used to complete the form. Good luck on the process.
  14. It's been a long time coming, but you're nearing the end. Congratulations and good luck.
  15. That's great news. Hey, first things first...Change your timeline. B)
  16. As others have said, blue slips are not outright denials but a "request" for more information. Most people provide the information, and the visa is eventually issued. The issue of money transfers usually is not a major problem. I'd venture to say that most of us sent money to our SO's during the visa process. I did, and it was never brougt up. But, most of us are US men. Your case is a little different in that you are a US woman sending money to a Chinese man, and as sexist as it might sound, I could see a VO wondering why you would be doing this.
  17. The is from the Federal Office of Redundant Filings: Make lots of copies and get multiple originals. Chances are good that you will have to file the same document more than once and while copies are generally acceptable, we may mess with your head and ask for the original even though we might already have one on file somewhere. What we say here only applies to the 1,432,322 federal agencies that deal with immigration issues. Our fifty states may also jump on the band wagon. Please check with them particularly with the county court folks or the DMV folks or anyone else that might require proof of marriage.
  18. I was finally able to log in at onesuite.com this afternoon by answering the "secret" question. Looks like they're making progress. My beloved wife has left a $5.26 balance which will likely be gone in a day or so. I'll decide then whether to recharge or not.
  19. Congratulations. Sounds like you're almost there. One thing to keep in mind is that CR-1 applicants, unlike K-1/K-3 applicants are supposed to have all of the required vaccinations before issuance of the visa: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1331.html I don't know if this might slow down the medical exam process that can normally be expedited for an extra fee.
  20. Congratulations and thanks for the detailed report. Wish I could help with the real estate issue, but that's way outside my comfort zone.
  21. A couple of thoughts. First, you are correct that a K-1/K-2 visa is good for 6 months. It must be used within 6 months of issuance. Your timing seems to suggest that if the baby stays back, your future wife won't be able to get back to China to escort the baby back to the US within the 6 months. As you correctly state, she will need advance parole which she can apply for as part of her adjustment of status, but I am doubtful that her needing to go back to get her daughter would constitute a basis for expedited AP. If I recall, Jingwen's AP, which she requested when her dad was dying, was not expedited and took about 2-3 months to get. The one alternative that I see is to not have GZ issue the K-2 visa on November 18th. K-2 children have up to one year after the K-1 is issued to get the K-2. Consider this. Maybe, your wife should go ahead and get the K-1, come to America, get married, file for AOS and AP and then return to China for the daughter. When the timing looks right, you can contact GZ and set up the process for the daughter's K-2. As long as GZ issues the K-2 within a year of the K-1, you should be okay. The consulate has provided CFL with some guidance on how to do this: http://candleforlove.com/forums/index.php?...ndpost&p=161648 Good luck.
  22. Presumably the EAD that she got is good for 90 days to coincide with her K-1 visa. If you are filing the I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization) at the same time you are filing the I-485, she should not have to wait more than 90 days. Hopefully, she will get her EAD before then, but if 90 days elapses, I think you can still go down to the local USCIS office and get an interim EAD. So, she does run the risk of her current EAD running out before she receives her new EAD. The biggest consequence if her employer finds out about an expired EAD is that she'll likely lose her job, and the employer could be fined. I don't think it effects her AOS though. If you are planning on waiting for the I-485 to be processed so she can get her green card (which also authorizes her to work), then you'll have a 1+ year wait for your part of the country.
