  1. Blow off all the steam you want. That's what we're here for! The system is just what it is. Nobody can do anything about it except to hope nothing goes bad in their case. All you can do is hope and hope for the best. The only sure thing is, no matter how long it is, it will definitely come to pass. Hang in there!
  2. There's no consistency involved with the CIS or what we used to call, "no rhyme or reason." You'll get it when you get it and if by chance you are one of the lucky ones, you'll get P2 in 30 days too! -good luck
  3. The USCIS online case status is extremely unreliable. Pay no attention to it. I remember it well. It was a disheartening experience. Your much better off relying on your own time and patience by knowing it will come to pass one day. -good luck
  4. Sorry to hear this. Try to work it out if you can. Get counseling. If you both love each other, you would try. -good luck Divorce has no adverse affect on the LPR. The only affect would be that the wait time to apply for citizenship will lengthen from 3 years to 5 years by not being married to a USC.
  5. If 21boy gets a letter of denial, his K1 visa is all he has to fall back on and it is only good for 90 days which afterwards, he will be accruing unlawful presence. With an attorney, 21boy can appeal the decision or file for adjustment of status again, but the CIS does not consider the time that an application for adjustment of status to automatically extend lawful nonimmigrant status. This means that while an application for adjustment of status is pending, the applicant may be accruing illegal status after the K1 visa expires and this could be reason enough for the interviewing officer to issue a denial once again. You need an attorney, 21boy!
  6. Pocket translators are a good idea. They both could use one and they do work in helping to translate. Today, my wife uses two thick dictionaries to help her translate. The trips weren't unbearable and the language situation was okay. My wife didn't speak much english at first but she's getting better every day. Her english is better but she'll never speak fluent, perfect english, I don't think. And I don't expect her to because, afterall, she's Chinese. Even with the language gap, I think they will do just fine. It'll be a learning experience for both of them, and a joyful one. -good luck
  7. what's the letter all about, 21boy?....... the letter will told me i pass or not . ( not receive yet ) the vo told me i can't pass it at the end of the interview. As you know, the K1 runs out in 90 days. I'm not sure how much time you have but what time you do have, put it to good use. As others have suggested, hire an attorney to help you. They can get delays and all that other legal jargon they can use to help you. If not, you'll go into visa overstay and that's not good. It triggers the 10 year ban if you're ever caught. Sorry for the mess you're in but an attorney might just be able to work it out. Try to get an attorney! -good luck
  8. what's the letter all about, 21boy?.......
  9. In Hong Kong, minors under 16 cannot marry. Minors (16-21) need the written permission of their parents or legal guardians to marry. The Hong Kong Marriage Ordinance (Chapter 181)
  10. Hi 21boy, Sorry for the troubles. It sounds serious. You've mentioned "a letter" twice in your replies. Do you have any details you can share on what letter you are waiting for? What information did the USCIS officer give you? What's your next step? Thanks
  11. Great news, spacebar! Don't be so hard on yourself. Many applicants have obtained a visa without having the petitioner present. I'm sure she will handle it well and I'm positive she will get the visa. If all is in order, she should have no problem at all. I wish you and her the best of luck next week!
  12. I got a report that it can take up to two (2) years for the I-130 to take it's course these days, I mean, two (2) years from filing the I-130 to obtaining the visa and that's why people are opting for the I-129F/K3 thereby needing to spend time and money filing the I-824. I never heard it taking that long but I think that's the "buzz" going around. If that's so, then I'm way behind in the visa game. The last I knew, it took 12 months for the IV and 10 months for the K3. It's always an ever changing scene.
  13. The Commonwealth of Virginia has been using #77 for several years now to contact the state police. I don't know if it applies for other states but it does here. There are blue roadsigns set up on the side that inform motorist of this information.

  17. I brought a few DVD's back with me from China with no problem. I purchased several Chinese movies at a shop in Shang Hai. One of them was "The Road Home.", in it's Chinese version, (no subtitles), "Wo De Fu Qin Mu Qin." I love that movie!
  18. Well, it's been 7 months since you first posted this. Congratulations on the headway. I'm almost positve it won't take another 7 months to get the interview. At most, 3 months and as little as 8 weeks. Congratulations, dcwfn!

  20. I'm glad you posted this question, Steve. I looked at my stepdaugter's online case and WoW!...it has been "touched!", with a new date, October 30, 2007. The last time it was touched was June 29, 2005. I take this as a very good sign! Thanks for the question! No question is too stupid or embarrassing to ask. So ask away! That's what we're here for! ok....so let me get this straight...when they do something with your case, there will be a notification of this?...i have checked my case online and also am signed up for the email updates as they happen...and so far have seen no evidence of anything happening except for the assignment of a case number....and btw...i have one more question....what is a "RFE"?...just i have seen this reference at the vj site...but i can not find any explanation for this acronym...again, thanks for your help Anytime your case is worked on, it will be updated in your portfolio. This is a touch. Request For Evidence (RFE) Notice of Intent to Deny (NOID).
  21. I used 'clam clip' fasteners... http://i7.tinypic.com/4lqrfit.jpg The clam clips did such a great job that the USCIS sent me a letter congratulating me on a job well done and that my petition would be expedited through the system without any undue delays. not really but you get the picture!
  22. It's been talked about before. I won't get into my views because it always starts controversy. Don't rely on which is quicker or which is better but rely on the one that makes itself available to you at the time. Also, (here it goes), try to leave time out of the equation.
