  1. Congratulations, Frank! Post some pictures!!! Jerry
  2. A big congratulations to you both!!!! Jerry
  3. Congratulations! Say hi to her for Zhenglin and myself! Jerry
  4. Congratulations, Frank! I'm thrilled for ya that the entire visa ordeal is over! What was going through immigrations like? Zhenglin will be coming through SFO as well. She wants to come by herself but I'm worried that she won't be able to communicate with the customs officers well enough... Jerry
  5. Sorry to hear this. Was the case denied outright, or did they ask for additional evidence? Hopefully it's the latter... Jerry
  6. Hang in there, Bill. I'm sure everything will go fine, though I can certainly understand the jitters. Best of luck and keep us updated on the news! Jerry
  7. Thanks Frank, Francine said she had a great time meeting you both and Jerry's Zhenglin too........ Good luck on your trip home! Frank Zhenglin enjoyed meeting Francine as well and had a good time with her and the other girls on Wednesday afternoon. It sounded like Francine is all ready to come! Woefully (for me ), Zhenglin still has a lot of packing to do... Jerry
  8. Thanks, Frank. Zhenglin asked me to pass on her thanks for accompanying her to the consulate in the morning. She felt a whole lot better going there without having to go over to this strange new place all by herself. Jerry
  9. My vote would be to go ahead and finish the degree too. One thing folks sometimes overlook is that it is much harder to get into a university in China than it is here. In America, if you have the tuition, there's a college somewhere for you. College entrance exams in China are pretty competitive, and your fiancee has done well to get herself in. So irrespective of whether or not the Chinese degree would help her in whatever job she gets here in the U.S., I think it'd be a good thing for her to finish the degree. Jerry
  10. Congratulations, Frank! Seems like a lifetime ago that we were in the pit, huh? Jerry
  11. A big congrats, Frank! Looks like Jingwen got pretty much the same questions that Zheng Lin did. She (the VO) didn't look at any of our forms either... And I made Zheng Lin stay up the night before she left for Guangzhou going over all the supporting documents one by one with her... There goes my credibilty... Jerry
  12. Thanks for the update. I'm having the hardest time getting calls into Guangzhou using my OneSuite account. Both the hotel landline number and Zhenglin's cell number is constantly giving me the 'busy' signal even when I know it isn't. I feel like NASA trying to contact the Mars rover; gotta wait for the rover to call home. Keep me updated on any sightings of my fiancee, please. I know she wanted to go shopping; wondering what she is ending up with... Jerry
  13. Just got a call from my fiancee... she got her visa! She met up with Frank and Jingwen this morning and got in line around 7 am. She got number 8, but they started calling the numbers starting at 6, so she was among the first group in. All the interviewer asked was how we met, looked at one picture, and that was it! Didn't look at any of the tax returns and W-2s and letters and phone record statements and all the other stuff I made her bring. (Now she thinks I'm paranoid... B)). She said she was the first one out of the consulate this morning. Her appointment time was 8:30 and she called me at 8:50 to tell me she passed. Wow! Never imagined that it would be so simple! Jerry P.S. No news about Frank and Jingwen yet. Hope we hear something soon!
  14. Hi Frank, Just spoke to my fiancee. Glad you guys were able to hook up. She tells me your Chinese s very good! Good luck tomorrow! Jerry
  15. Good to hear from ya, Frank. Glad things are going smoothly. My fiancee is in GZ now; she'll try to get a hold of Jingwen sometime on Monday... Jerry
  16. I am not looking forward to dealing with the local former INS offices. I've heard so many horror stories from co-workers about standing in line all night (taking turns sleeping in the car) so that you could get in. Apparently being there at 5 am isn't good enough anymore. Don't know all the details and maybe it's a Silicon Valley thing (lots of immigrants here after all) but sounds really scary... Jerry
  17. Carl, Congratulations! I can imagine how thrilled you must be right now. I'm very happy for ya! Jerry
  18. Congrats, Clifford. You made it onto your congressman's mailing list! It's nice that you got a calendar. I get one from my broker, but not my congresswoman (though I am still very happy with her for helping me with the pit earlier). Our tax dollars at work... Now let's see if you get a call for contributions as we get closer to November... Jerry
  19. I wanted to see of the folks here who have had contact with Ms. Donahue, what's she like? Was your experience positive and was she able to help? I'm trying to get my hands on a P4 for an interview less than three weeks away (two if you subtract out Chinese New Year week) and am sending her a note. Just wanted to see where to set my expectations on this getting resolved... First the pit, now this. I'm going to be soooooo good to my sweetheart when she gets here. This is not easy! Jerry
  20. Jerry, Yes, medical forms did come with Package4, Oops! I meant that there is no medical form on AAC web site, is there? I was looking for it since we haven't a P4 yet... Jerry
  21. There's no medical form on there, is there? Jerry
  22. Doesn't seem possible to pay the fee before the exam if you get your exam in a place like Shanghai or Beijing. There are hospitals in those two places but no banks where you can pay your $830RMB... Jerry
  23. I thought the proposed Bush Plan would offer guest passes to all foreigners with job offers, not just Mexicans. I got lost on the part on why people would need to pretend to be Mexican? Jerry
  24. It sounds like only documents that are not in the official language of the country need to be translated. In China, the official language is Chinese. Jerry
  25. Thanks everyone. My main concern is that my fiancee won't have the time to get all the forms filled out and do the medical exams and all within three weeks, with Spring Holiday week sandwiched in there. They hadn't even sent out the forms yet when they e-mailed me yesterday. Anyone know how long we need to be in Guangzhou? Our interview is Feb 3, so when should she plan to arrive and depart? Jerry
