  1. So sorry to hear about that. Was there a reason cited?
  2. Just got off the phone with my fiancee, and she said the interview went very well. The officer she spoke with was very nice, spoke English slowly and smiled all the time. He asked her about 10 questions (where do I live, what do I do for a living, do I have children, etc.). Didn't ask to see a single document (even after she offered to show him). BTW, she got to the consulate about 7 am and the line started filling up very quickly. So when your loved ones go have them get there as early as possible. 14 months of waiting have finally paid off! Bill and Fengjuan
  3. Sweetness! Glad to hear the good news. Don't want to be a wet blanket or anything, but you still have to prepare for the interview. LOTS of documents, many of them duplicates. If you can be there with her to help her prepare them, all the better. If you can't be there, get ready to spend a lot of time on the phone. Even for native English speakers, some of the questions are a little obtuse. That said, you're 95% there! Bill and Fengjuan
  4. My fiance has been in GZ since Wednesday getting ready for the interview on Monday morning. I've been in contact with her all weekend, and she's in good spirits (okay, maybe a little nervous about the interview). She met Francine-GG's fiance (whose interview was successful!). She's also sharing a hotel room with another girl who had a successful interview on Friday, and is waiting to get her visa on Monday. It's a little hard to believe that all our preparations have come down to this, but we'll know the result in about 18 hours. I'll be on pins and needles until I get that call! What really sucks is that I was IN China until January 30. I had to make preparations for my trip there before we got the interview confirmation, and by then it was too late to change plans. I really wish I could be there for her, even though I can't attend the interview. Just waiting outside for her would make us both feel so much better. Anyway, I have a good feeling about it, and she will pass with flying colors. Thanks to all here who have offered advice and support. Bill and Fengjuan
  5. Okay, was just chatting online with Fengjuan and we were wondering if my last email to GZ was lost. So I sent off another one, and 15 minutes later got a reply. Ours is on Feb. 9! Really sounds like the gates are opening. Bill and Fengjuan
  6. I've wondered quite a lot about how I will explain some of these things that are just ridiculously stupid and funny. Most of them are funny because they're meaningless in virtually any context. A lot of it depends on the individual - you either think it's funny or NOT.
  7. Jim! Glad to have you aboard. You'll find the people here are quite friendly and more than willing to help. If you've got a question/problem, odds are someone here has been through it already. Welcome! Bill and Fengjuan
  8. Carl/Hongyu - Thank you very much for sharing your insightful thoughts with us. You've verbalized many things we really need to know. And knowing that this is from your own real-life experience makes it even more valuable. Thanks! Bill and Fengjuan
  9. Check it out here... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3720322/
  10. Thank you all for your help. It's becoming clearer what we need to do. Newman, please keep us posted on your daughter's progress! Thanks all, Bill and Fengjuan
  11. Greetings all - Just received the P3 yesterday. Can't believe we finally got to this huge milestone. We don't really have any questions about filing the forms for the K1 visa for my fiancee, thanks to all the good advice and experience related on this site. But her daughter (12 years old) will come to the states less than a year later. We have a few questions for anyone with experience or knowledge in this area... 1) Can her daughter (Mengdi) have her interview at the same time as her mother? 2) I believe we need all the same documents for Mengdi that we need for her mother. Is this correct? Treat it basically as another separate application? 3) Can Mengdi get her medical examination at the same time as her mother, since the medical report is valid for 1 year? 4) Do we need any documentation from Mengdi's father stating that he releases her to go to the US to be with her mother? If anyone can help with these or any other questions I may have forgotten to ask, I'd be in your debt. Thanks! Bill and Fengjuan
  12. Robhon - Been a busy couple days, and just saw this post. Called the consulate about, let's see, a hundred times 2 days ago. Finally reached a human about 3 minutes before the 2-hour window expired. Turns out our information is in their computer. So we actually exist! He said our P3 was sent on Nov. 25. So now we're busy getting ready to fill out all the forms. Bill and Fengjuan
  13. Also, we're K1. BTW, I've seen conflicting dates for the DHL delivery. I assumed the date of delivery was to be LOCAL China date/time, not US date/time. I took the delivery date/time directly from the DHL website.
  14. 1) Date NVC shipped your case to GZ - Aug. 7, 2003 2) DHL tracking number - 9435275920 3) Date of delivery to GZ (according to DHL) - Sept. 12, 2003 10:03 am 4) Date P3 was received (if you have received yours) - Still waiting! 5) Your CFL name, only (trying to keep things private) - BillT Thanks, and good luck!
  15. se lang - The Merrylin is just a block or two from the Purple Mountain hotel, and you should be able to find it at http://english.ctrip.com/ (just do a search). Can't vouch for the rooms, though, because we stayed at the Purple Mountain. Bill and Fengjuan
