  1. The mystery package showed up at my lady's post office in Xindu on Friday morning (China time). She open it and called me to say that it was, in fact, her P-3 packet! Neither of us could believe that it had arrived so quickly ... from NVO out on June 15th to P-3 in hand ... 10 days! Needless to say, she was not only very excited about receiving her P-3 but she was on her way to the agency with her daughter almost immediately after the envelope was opened. Even though I had already filled out the DS 230, part 1 and the OF-169 for her and her daughter and left it with the agency, they spent the better part of the day going over the paperwork and making sure everything was properly filled in and all the information was correct. This Monday morning (China time) she called me to say that her forms had been mailed out and were now on their way back to Guangzhou. I have to tell you ... my head was spinning. With everything moving so quickly I have to really put my nose to the grindstone to get all the rest of my material completed and organized to bring to her for the interview. We had plans to do this on August 31st. I held off purchasing the ticket to see if the fares would drop a bit. It is a good thing I did. It now appears that my lady could possibly have her interview by the end of August and I will be making the trip to Guangzhou rather than Chengdu ... thank you, Lord! Now all eyes will be on the post office for the arrival of the much anticipated P-4. We are in the highest hopes that the speedy trend at which all of this is happening will continue to favor not only us but all those who are at this point in the process right now. Our prayers are many and our fingers are crossed! One final note of interest ... when I called DOS on Friday evening to find out if the P-3 had been sent out, as suggested here, I was told that they did not have that information and that I would have to call the Consulate at Guangzhou to find out whether or not it had been sent out! Go figure!
  2. Wow! What a great day for the both of you! Hearty CONGRATULATIONS on your success! Thank you for sharing this very useful information for those of us still waiting our turn. It is so encouraging to see other couples reap the reward for all their hard effort! Best of luck in the beautiful life that is before you!
  3. As I said previously, my lady received a call from the Chengdu post office yesterday telling her that she had received a package from GUZ. They were calling to confirm the address prior to delivery. When they told her that they could not find her address in Chengdu my lady told them that was because she DIDN'T live in Chengdu ... that she lives in Xindu. It turns out that GUZ did not include her "Xindu Town, Xindu District" line in the address label on the package so it stopped in Chengdu which is about 30 minutes away from the main post office in Xindu Town (Whew! That's a mouthful!) At any rate they told her that they would forward the package to the Xindu post office and that she could pick it up there. While we were chatting last night ... which was 9 a.m. in the morning in Xindu ... she began calling the post office in Xindu ... they hadn't received the package. I told my lady to call me last night, no matter what the time, to let me know if the package was, indeed, the P-3. You guessed it! No phone call. No luck! I just spoke to her about an hour ago and she said that she had called both post offices every hour on the hour for 9 straight hours in an effort to locate the mystery package. Now, neither post office has it and it is supposedly in transit to Xindu. Both post offices told her she would have it tomorrow. So we will see what happens. You want to talk about nerve wracking??? I will keep you posted ... the saga continues .... Richard
  4. Dan: As always, thank you for your insight! I'll let you know what happens tomorrow when I find out what the piece of mail is from Guangzhou. This could all be a false alarm. I don't want to get my hopes up but like I said ... to me, this all seems to be moving lightening fast ... even if there is a backlog for the interview date, the process seems to be moving much faster then I ever imagined. Richard
  5. Well, like the rest of the relative "new guys" I'm sitting here waiting for the K-1 visa to run its course. If its one thing any of us have learned from this experience it is the old adage, "Patience is a virtue!" So with that in mind I settled in for the long wait after making my initial I-129F submission to the USCIS Processing Center in Vermont on April 2nd. As I mentioned on here before, I was astounded when I received my P-2 approval notice on June 14th... just 63 days after it was received. This past Saturday, June 19th, I received the notice from the State Department informing me that they had received my file, assigned it a GUZ case number and would be forwarding it to Guangzhou soon. They also said that my lady would be receiving an information packet (P-3?)with an instruction sheet and a visa application shortly. OK, so I'm now into the long and frustrating wait that everyone here has mentioned and experienced. So now its my turn, right? I am figuring that the NVC out date was going to be sometime in the middle or end of this week so for the heck of it I called the State Department last night and was informed the my file was sent to the consulate at Guangzhou on June 15th. Again I was surprised by the very fast NVC turn around time! This morning (night in Chengdu) I received a phone call from my lady informing me that the Chengdu post office had called her and told her that there was a piece of mail for her there from Guangzhou and that she had to come to the post office to pick it up tomorrow. Both of are thinking ... Could this be the P-3 already!? Can this really be happening that fast!? So my question is ... is there some other notification that Guangzhou sends to the beneficiary in the mail prior to sending the P-3 or could this be the P-3 itself? Am I reading more into this then is actually there? Is this too much to hope for? This process seems to me to be moving very much faster than I had anticipated or thought possible. Love to hear your thoughts on this one. Richard
  6. Fantastic News! A hearty congratulations to you both! You well deserve your success and happiness. I'm turning greener with envy as I write this ... am now waiting for our P-3. I look forward to the details of your interview with great interest. Can't wait for our day to get here. All the best for a bright and joyful future!
  7. I will be not only be glad to add the update with our interview date here but will really be looking forward to it! Thought MY turn around time was fast ... but you and dnoblett buried me! I'm guessing November for the interview. What's your thought?
  8. Thank you dnoblett, tsap and racer! Your words and thoughts are most welcome and very assuring. The support from the fellow members here is one of the best things about this site. Even when you think you are as prepared as you can possibly be, a reassuring word from a friend can make all the difference in the world for peace of mind. You guys are the best! Thanks again!
  9. Well, I must say that I was really stunned by the speed with which I have just received my NOA 2 approval of our K-1 visa application from the Vermont Service Center. I had just settled in for the long wait in the trenches and expected to hear something back in about 4 to 6 months. However, our application was approved on June 9th - just 63 days from the time it was received by VSC! Now, I am wondering what that could possibly mean for the rest of the application processing time. I have read just about everything I could in this form pertaining to the various waiting periods but I did not see too many that received their NOA 2's in just over 2 months. Does anyone else have experience with the time frame from NOA 2 to interview with such a short NOA 1 to NOA 2 approval time? What do you think I can expect ... or I should say my lady has asked me to see what you think SHE can expect. Any thoughts? Also, I know I read something here about the expiration date on some type of visa but for the life of me I cannot find it now. My question is this: On the NOA 2 in the block that says, "Notice Type" it reads, "Approval Notice". It then goes on to say, "VALID from 06/09/2010 to 10/09/2010" ... What is this all about? Are they saying that my lady should have her interview no later than 10/09/2010? What happens if we have not received an interview date prior to the expiration date on the NOA 2? We are all ready for the P-3 and are standing by for its receipt. However I would appreciate some clarification and thoughts on a projected time frame for the P-3, P-4 and interview date and ... What does the expiration date of the NOA 2 actually mean? I shall look forward to your thoughts! Richard
  10. Congratulations!!! This is always motivating news for us who are still waiting! Let the excitement begin! All the best to you both!
  11. Great news! Congratulations on a job well done!
  12. Its always great to hear stories of success and that have a happy ending ... actually a happy beginning. Congratulations to you and all the best for a fantastic future together! I'm green with envy ... still waiting!
  13. Great news! I'm thrilled for you both. Best of luck with the rest of the process!
  14. CONGRATULATION! That is really great news! I am so happy for you guys. It gives inspiration to those of us who are still waiting our turn on the firing line. All the best to you and your lady!
  15. Well done and congratulations! You set a motivating example to those of us who are still waiting.
  16. Congratulations are very much in order! Hang tough ... your luck with the "Pink" will carry you through to a new job. It will probably turn out that the loss of your old job will guide you to something much better in the future.
  17. Congratulations! You are the envy of the town.
  18. Thank you dnoblett and warpedbord. Always great advice and always quick and right on the mark. You gentlemen are great. I will let my lady know the options. I do not want to break up a family but as you both very well know, going through the time, expense and aggravation with the initial process and the AOS's is enough for one go around. I do not want to make it two. The mother is absolutely fine coming alone. She just wanted her daughter to have the best opportunity to succeed ... as we all want for our children. There is the rest of this year to wait prior to our interview (I hope) so a lot could change between then and now. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again! Richard
  19. OK! We've all been through adolescence. Frankly, its been so long for me that maybe things have changed in this "modern", high tech era. Although for the life of me, I can't imagine how. At any rate here is the situation; my fiancee's 20 year old daughter is having a tough time making up her mind as to whether she wants to "follow" her mother to the U.S. or stay behind in China permanently. One day it is a "Yes" and the next day a "No!". This all came about because of a letter I wrote to my fiance asking her for some specific information that I needed to complete her DS 230, part II. One of the questions is whether the child will accompany the mother and travel to the U.S. at the same time as her mother or if the child will "follow later". My fiancee and I have spoken about this often and when I was in Chengdu this past February, I asked her daughter if she would like to accompany her mother. At that time the answer was "Yes, most probably." This past weekend the mother asked for a definitive answer as she wanted to provide me with the information I had requested in order to complete the DS 230. When asked this time, the daughter told her mother that she did not want to come to the U.S. What resulted was an angry exchange of words that left my lady very upset and somewhat confused at her daughter's inability to make a firm decision on whether she is going or staying. My question is this: If the daughter decides to come to the U.S. in a "will follow" scenario with a K-2 visa that is generated as part of my fiancee's K-1 visa, does she have to stay in the U.S. or can she return to China if she does not like it here? The two scenarios I presented to my lady were these: 1. You daughter goes through the process with you and upon the consulate granting you your visa, she will have exactly one year "to follow". If she gets here and doesn't like it she can return to China within 90 days, or 2. She gets her visa when you get your visa and then just lets it expire after a year's time thereby remaining in China and not being able to join you as part of your visa. If your daughter wanted to join you in the future we would have to begin a whole new process that would take another year or more. I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions with this as it seems to be a very divisive issue within the family. This is a family I know and love ... a family that is extremely close and loving. I feel as though I am the reason for the friction between mother and daughter over this issue and I do not want any fallout for the rest of the family. I have two grown daughters of my own and have already seen this type of exchange between them and their mother (ex wife) before. I know that it is a normal part of the mother/daughter relationship. However, we are now talking about a dramatic change in life style for a young woman who is attending a university in Chengdu and would be leaving all her friends and everything she has known and loved. Her mother sees this as a golden opportunity for her daughter ... an opportunity to do better than she ever would in China. I have already given my fiancee my thoughts on the matter but would appreciate hearing from anyone who might have had a similar experience with this. All advice is most welcome and sincerely appreciated. As if there wasn't enough to worry about with this whole visa process! Richard
  20. Good luck to you and your lady John! I sent mine just ahead of you and am hoping for the same time frame. We may end up in GUZ together! Who knows? This is truly a great website with a lot of wonderful people who are always willing to go out of their way to assist the guys just starting out. I could not have even started this journey without the guidance from this site. A wealth of information here so be sure to take advantage of it! I've already started getting the next set of forms and documentation ready to go. Nothing like being prepared and ready to jump off at a moment's notice. Again ... best of luck!
  21. Thank you dnoblett! you are always "Johnny on the Spot" with your assistence! Your guidance is really appreciated. The redundancy you mentioned, should both of these I-134's be submitted at the same time and with only the mother's name alone on one and the daughter's name alone on the other? I am still a bit confused as to weather they consider this as two separate sponsorships and whether the answer to item 10 is considered a single "petition" or 2 "petition(s)"? Am I, in fact, applying for two separate visas by requesting that the daughter accompany her mother? Also, just to let you know, I went to the IRS.com website and looked up "Tax Transcripts". After going through all the hassle of establishing an account and providing all the information they required about my ex-wife. the next page contained cost information of $39.99 per each year's transcripts. Where did you find the free transcript service? I'd appreciate knowing. Thanks again for your quick response!
  22. I am in the process of filling out my form I-134 and have a question concerning my fiancee's 19 year old daughter. In item #10 it asks, "I have submitted a visa petition (s) to the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Service on behalf of the following person (s):" Then there are spaces for two names. My question is this, do you place the name of the child below that of the mother in item #10 or is the child automatically included in the original I-129F/K1 visa process. I included the child in the initial submission but do not know if this constitutes a separate K2 visa application in the eyes of the USCIS. Anyone have experience with this? I would sincerely appreciate any help with this one. Also, it a complete copy of the tax returns for your previous 3 year's income which is required as supporting documentation for the I-134 the same thing as a "Tax Transcript"? Will the complete tax returns for 2007, 2008 and 2009 suffice in lieu of a tax transcript? Thanks again!
  23. Bringing back this subject, I realize that our case is new, but in the last week our case has been "Touched" four times. What can this really mean? Yes i maybe the block head here and really do not understand what is happening but it sure seems odd so much activity within one week and so soon. I have read it can mean getting close to a decision or it is just being moved around a lot. Who knows because USCIS sure will not tell you anything. Dan You received NOA-1 one month ago ... chill out and work on your next level of documents. Many people waited for 5-7-9-13 months for NOA-2. Yours being touched means you will get notification soon of either a RFE or approval. Hoepfully it will be approval! I just sent in my I-129F Fiancee petition two weeks ago and have received my NOA1 What is the next level of documents that I should be working on?
  24. The question about IMBRA was the Broker involved in you and your fiancee meeting? In my case I got a "admirer" message from CHN-Love which is a broker, however I later spotted my wife on Cherry Blossoms which is NOT an IMB. My wife had paid CHN-Love for posting there, but we did not note anything about the IMB since the IMB was NOT involved in our meeting on line. I believe if YOU paid and used the service of an IMB to find your fiancee then YOU list this. As for G-325A, last summer USCIS reduced that form to just one page, it is no longer a special 4 part form with 4 DIFFERENT pages, so only one page is needed. SEE: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/g-325a.pdf I saw my lady's profile on the CHN-Love website and sent a "cupid note". She replied positively and our relationship began from that point. As I mentioned, I have not paid the agency anything and they have not requested it from me. However, I recall my lady mentioning that she had to pay to get her profile on the website and also had to pay when I went to visit her the first time. She said she had signed a contract with them. The agency told me about the form reduction from 4 sheets to 1 but I didn't believe them. So now I have 4 originals. Should I include one of these for each of us with the I-129f submission instead of a copy? What's your thought?
  25. Thank you dnoblett and HongKong2LA! I have read many of your posts and you gentlemen seem to be right on the mark. The info concerning the CCP membership of my lady's cousin is most welcome. He is a really nice guy and I never even thought to ask. Politics never came up and that is the way it should be. She was never a CCP member. I did not pay the marriage broker but I believe that my lady did. I have included all the appropriate information in a supplemental sheet to I-129F Part B, question 19. I have both my lady's certificate of eligibility to marry and her divorce certificate in hand. I also made sure to bring back 4 signed 325a forms for her daughter along with the photo just in case. Better safe than sorry! I've read too many horror stories on this site and I want to be prepared for all eventualities. dnoblett's info on the certificate of marriageability is very helpful and I will be sure to send a copy along with the I-129F. I know the interview is miles down the road but we are already preparing for it.
