  1. Thanks to all the information and help I have received here through the years. April 28th had AOS interview in Buffalo. A week later got a letter we were approved. And last week we finally got Jun's 10 year Green Card. Thanks once again to all here and all my family and friends for their support. During the interview she asked a few questions and intently wrote down all our answers. But after about 10 minutes she stopped writing anything down and just began to listen and look at photos and proof, asking only a few questions. Interview lasted about 30 minutes. After she found out we had been together for almost 4 years already I guess she realized we were really married and in love. For those of you who do not know our story to sum it up. After I married Jun, I moved to China after I got everything paperwork and financially done here. Spent 11 months with her in China, taught English while there. Soon as she got approved to come to the U.S., we moved here. So in the 4+ months we have been married have only been separated for the 6 months from when we got married till I moved to China.
  2. I just realized that it is exactly 1 year to the day and hour that my wife came out of interview for her visa and said "I am pink".
  3. We are doing great since our arrival in the States. My wife got her SS card but took two visits to the local office to get it. She also wanted to get a job to contribute to our success in the States so with the help of my sister she has been working full time. Making very good money too. She was excited with her first check but now its not as exciting because it is the same every week. Last week to help build her credit we purchased a new car which I cosigned for. She is doing great and we are very happy. Although now that she is working I do not see her as much as I would like. But she is not lonely and bored at home while I work now. She also got her driver's learners permit about 3 weeks ago. She worked long and hard to get it as well. Going to the DMV web site and memorizing all the questions in all the practice quizzes for each unit. When she took the test she was asked if she wanted to take it in Chinese or English. She took it in English and scored a 90, I am very proud of her in all she is doing and accomplishments.
  4. The way the morning went for us: Wife wakes up at 6:00am too early for me. I wake up at 6:45. After all ready walk over the Consolate at 7:00 First we ask which line to line up in since there are like 6 lines. We were told line 4 from left to right. Then they moved us way to the right ended up being in like line 9. Got up to the security guard and our name wasn't on his clipboard he was holding told us we were in wrong line. Moved back to our original line now much longer. Finally all other lines have been taken care of and we are last line to move. With only about 6 stragglers that arrived late we were the last ones to get a pass. Into the elevator not the escalator up to the 4th floor. At this security check I left wife after she passed guard. Went into the coffee shop right next to where line for that security check was. WOW 55 rmb for a cup of coffee with 10rmb refills. Had to stay there though as it started to down pour outside. I wanted to leave and rest for maybe 4 hours and come back because I thought with where my wife went in being almost last through all security checks would be a while before I saw her again. Chatting in coffee shop with two other husbands waiting. Just before 10:00 my wife shows up at our table. Says to me I got PINK. At this point I am shocked still that she is standing in front of me and did not compute in my head she said PINK. Finally understanding we were going to get her visa, went down stairs and she started calling everyone with the news and I started texting everyone I knew as well. She told me when she went through all she had to do and received her number she sat down and was chatting with the others that we have met while staying here. One of the girls said that is your number go on up. Number 1002 my wife had. She walks up to the window. The very nice black lady asks for her passport. My wife says to her hello very nice to meet you and smiles at her. VO smiles back. VO asks her 3 questions and then says to my wife "You are Approved" Wife turns around excited and says to everyone sitting down PINK PINK Wife gets all her stuff and starts running away before she thinks they might change their mind. Looks at her papers she got and it is the wrong name. Goes back and gets right papers and runs to see me. Question 1: How did you meet your husband? Question 2: When did your husband come to meet you in China? Question 3: What is your husband doing in China now for work? Then says your approved. Never asked for any documents or photos. Now its time to party some more. Planning on coming back to the states June 9th. Good luck to all others that are still waiting. Have confidence and it will happen.
  5. Good for you! I'm glad you guys were successful! Enjoy the rest of your time in Guangzhou. Pink Pink and more Pink been partying for 2 days now
  6. Congrats on your pink we will party later tonight
  7. My wife and I stayed at this hotel. Very close to Consolate and helped my wife with interview prep. Came over the night before interview day and quizzed my wife on some questions they might ask. Helped arrange medical and showed us around a little as well. Very nice and professional owners. John and Jun
  8. Wife was first one called up and they asked her 3 questions. 1. How did you meet your husband? 2. When did you come to China to meet you? 3. What does he do for work in China? Your approved Did not ask for any documents.
  9. Well its almost time for the wife's interview. She is sleeping in the room next to me while I am surfing the net. Alarms all set and gearing up for my long wait at Starbucks in the morning. She has been nervous all week thinking her English is too bad. But she does just fine. Keep praying today. PINK PINK PINK. Think Pink
  10. Finally May 10 is my lao po's interview date. Now trying to get the time off from work in Chengdu so I can go to Guz with her.
  11. Hello all, Sorry long time no write but have been very busy with teaching in China and spending lots of time with my wife. Have now almost 250 photos on my face book of all the places I have been to in China in the last 4 months I have been in China. Yesterday I got an email that we have been approved for electronic filing for my wife's visa. GZU number issued, so hopefully it will not take too much longer. John
  12. Finally got our NOA2 now its on to the next step. Also my wife has been planning and preparing for our Chinese Traditional Wedding on October 6th.
  13. Well so far I have only 4 classes for the first 3 weeks of teaching 2 on Wednesdays and 2 on Fridays and both days are the same students for 2 consecutive classes. After 3 weeks I will get more classes when the freshmen finish their boot camp type of training. The pay is not much but I have been given a apartment a short walk from campus with internet and fully furnished. Too tell you about my stay so far. I arrived on August 9th very late at night thanks to the pilots of my plane being taken off my plane and put onto a different flight. So we waited 4 hours to get replacement pilots from Beijing to Chengdu. First meal I had when I arrived in Chengdu my wife took me for breakfast at McDonalds even though I just wanted to sleep. First week in China we went to Jingli Street which is famous for Opera's and the Wou Shou Shrine. Sorry about spelling of these if wrong. I met Larry and Bill in Chengdu two of CFLers here. Then took one day and went to Yaan Mountain and the sight of Two Immortals Bridge. Very scenic mountain and a nice tourist town at the very top. The restaurant and boarding house my grandparents were staying at we had lunch and toured the town. The owner of the restaurant wanted me to take a photo with him in front of his store with the sign in view. Think he will use it for building business. The drive down the mountain was quite scary. Kind of like the Road to Hana in Maui but going down a hill instead of being flat. The second week we went to Deyang. And visited her home town of Zhongjiang. Another nice town where at dinner with her 10 girlfriends she has not seen in a long time I had to keep drinking beer and got extremely drunk. Think I had 5 beers and I am only used to drinking one. Third week I have started teaching.
  14. Well got the dreaded RFE but I am still happy because I am doing fine teaching in Deyang and living with my wife. I taught my first class today and was a lot easier then I thought it would be for now. Just hope I can keep the interest of the students and let them learn English. I have not learned what the RFE is yet waiting for my lawyer to get back in touch with me so we can work out and get my lao po her visa.
