  1. Can this medical also be done in Beijing?
  2. Are CR1 getting pink or gold when they pass?
  3. My son is deaf and CC is on all the time. Sometimes it is good and sometimes it is bad and then real bad. Right now the news on tv is good today, it all depends on what services the news station is using. most of the time I have to sign the news to him. Also, when watching the local news, when the weather man comes, the CC stops.
  4. I have a farmer's market nearby and my laopo said that is all that she needed along with a source for fresh seafood.
  5. Yeah, that's too bad you feel that way. Met my laopo on CLL in 12/05.
  6. Talking to my laopo about this, she said she goes to her hometown gongzhenengchu for the paper that requests the police certificate. brings that to her hometown police station, gets certificate of wei ing or others refer also as wu fan zui ji lu meaning as she said no trouble with police. then she takes this back to gongzhenengchu for translation/certify/notarize in the white booklet. Her family has a connection with police so she will not get a hastle. she said if local police in some cases see the need for emigrating to USA, they make it hard for the chinese citizen.
  7. added you too. Thanks david, happy holidays or as I prefer Merry Christmas!
  8. Mine sent to vermont 11/30. reciept says NOA 12/1 , in my hands 12/7. Then I registered to have email updates.

  10. Congrats!!!!!!!! The wait, argh! I do not worry, the past year of knowing my laopo before marriage went so fast and hopefully the next year or probably more will go just as fast.
  11. Hi mama bear! my laopo's is the blue background. What color was your's? when you sent in I130.
  12. I am getting ready to mail out the I130 for wife and daughter, but wife's passport style photo has a blue background. any, suggestions as I think she has to get new pics made up and sent to me. Yikes! already losing time.
  13. That's something to consider, Jim and thanks for the reminder. By the way, your wife is lovely - and - you ain't too bad! Yes, I agree with Jim, just meeting family face to face is priceless. Whew, Tryptophan hitting me
  14. I am home now in upstate New York. Wow! it feels so good to get a solid night of sleep. As for the wedding, it was so great to have been in a full blown Chinese wedding. My laopo never stopped smiling and her family was so receptive of me. I got my little red book in a solid binding slightly bigger booklet in Tianjin. I brought my "affidavit of single status" papers from New York and the minzhengju translated to Chinese right there. The next night the party was at The White Palace Hotel with 22 family/friends in attendance. The food just kept coming and I mean alot!. The bill was only $224, Laopo was worried it was too much. People were dressed nice, I was in a suit, laopo in red dress. The men there treated very well and they were the one's that ensured I followed tradition. One of which was to stand with laopo and refer to laopo's as Mom (mama) and dad (baba) as well as aunts and uncles. Her parents then gave me the little red packets as did the aunts and uncles in which I immediately gave to laopo! To tell you the truth, I felt a little funny accepting money, I felt as though I should have been giving for how genuniely nice they are to me. You know, I was so sick one night when I was supposed to go out to eat with parents, aunts and uncles and after they finished, they all came over late at night to see how I was doing. The men actually argued about which hospital to bring me. Yeah, I ended that arguement with a refusal to go. Then we spent an entire day (8:30 am-4:00 pm) at a bridal gown shop. This where she got her face done up and me too for a zillion pics in 5 different wedding outfits, some representing weddings 200 years ago. The makeup person would fix her makeup alot due to my laopo's tears. As for the pics, they go into a BIG wedding book (at least 24"x18") and a little (U.S. size) book. The book is beautiful in a artsy kind of way, nothing like a U.S. wedding book (album). I asked why she was so emotional, she said she finally got a book like her sisters, previous husband refused to "waste" money like that. After I wanted cab driver to stop at bank so I could get money for the Pics and book. She refused the money, I said in U.S. man should pay, she said You are not in U.S. Yes, everything was great until.... I get to the screening at the airport where there was a problem with my coat. They kept screening it over and over. In one of my side pockets there is a small hole, where a drywall nail fell through (remodeling downstairs per laopo's directions). So I think I am done, no, still a problem now they find a un-used bullet. Oh no, Midnight Express,Midnight Express,Midnight Express. Security comes takes me away, main man was smart realized it not made in China, I told them I had found it on the ground near a store(really I did) and had forgotten about it. They had me sign papers, copied my passport and let me go. moral of story do like your mom says and always have clean underwear on. Another thing, guys, if you can, marry your laopo in China, you will be treated as a new family member, not just an american who married their sister as told to me from her brothers. ok, now time to add timeline to my profile since I brought all papers with me for laopo to sign.

  16. Mama Bear! best of luck to you! and thanks for your help you have given me.
  17. Check with your state's vital records department. They have single status certificates. There's also other ways of obtaining one. Look at the China embassy in D.C. website. They address the topic and even had a form you can print. Do you mind give me the link, please. http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/hzqz/fhjh/t84256.htm Here's the link from the embassy to follow. The single-status form they present wasn't on their website when I went thru the process. I got mine from my state's vital records department. Check with your state to see if you can get a copy of it. Your state can even authenticate it before mailing it to you. I think they might be able to forward it to the US State Department for authentication before it goes to the Chinese embassy or consulate. Authentication To save yourself one step in the process begin with Item 2 and have the County Clerk notarize the form. In New York state you do all 4, I was told this by N.Y. Chinese Consulate who helpled me fill out application on the phone before sending it in.
  18. wow! 17 months for CR1/CR2 you did not have to translate divorce papers? Her documents were translated and notarized from Chinese to English for the USA folks. I didn't translate anything from English to Chinese. I received the "certificate of marriagebility" from the Houston Consulate. They reviewed the divorce papers and my declaration of being single. I had the Divorce papers notarized by the district clerks office, then the Texas Secretary of State certified that the district clerks stamp is geniune. Had my statement of being single notarized and the Texas Secretary of State certified that the notary was a real notary. Brought all of those papers along with the papers received by the consulate to China, gave them to my wife-to-be and let HER do all the talking at the Registrars office. We came back at an appointed time and waited while another American/Sino couple were being registered as man and wife. Interesting that the man did ask via my wife 1) "Do you like her family?" and 2) "Do you like her?" After my "yeses" He then spent the next 15 minutes trying to make the books look nice with clean handwriting (he went through 2 over them due to misprints on his part). Then that's it. Ya'll married. Back to topic. I personally recommend that you and her have anything that is remotely offical notarized. It's a pain, costs a few more bucks but it sure covers your bases. When you say "Brought all of those papers along with the papers received by the consulate" to China" what exactly are they? when I got my divorce papers back from chinese consulate, the secratary of state paper has a 2x3.5 inch blue stamp and a little round halogram decal on back. Is this the certificate of marriageability? thanks for your patience.
  19. wow! 17 months for CR1/CR2 you did not have to translate divorce papers?
  20. All your papers will have to be translated into Chinese then taken to the Bureau of Civil Affairs office in your SO's city to register the marriage. The good thing now is that you don't have to get a physical done first. They stopped doing that in October 2003. They do? where does it say that? http://www.china-embassy.org/eng/hzqz/fhjh/t84256.htm
  21. I live in new york, got application from N.Y. chinese consulate website. 1. brought my divorce papers to bank to be notarized. 2. then to county court house to be certified. 3. next mail to secratary of state to be certified. 4. then mail to chinese consulete in N.Y.C. today got divorce papers back with certified seals. now, i am not sure if we can just go to hometown (hukou) and register to marry. if anybody has done this let me know my next step. My SO will be a CR1/CR2 case.
  22. I-864 only recent year mandatory, years 2 and 3 are optional as said in the instructions in section 25. also, state returns not needed.
