  1. Unless I am reading you wrong, YOU are always the petitioner. Family name = last name. Given name = first name. Yes sorry "Applicants name". Also, I can't use opinions of what should be, or upper case/bold ideas. I am replicating the DS-230 cover sheet to mail in. It must match what they will (eventually) mail out. I was looking for someone who had gone through the I-130 process with NVC, and knew what and how NVC would print the cover sheet. I think its a good guess they will print firstname lastname given it is a US agency, but someone who had seen the cover sheet would be nice insurance. A little more detail... I am traveling to China at about the same time NVC will mail me the ds-230 package. I have all the forms and documentation complete with signatures, ready to mail (except the cover sheet of course). I would like to leave it all packaged up with a friend so that I can call them from China and say "Please mail it for me". This would get the package to NVC almost a month before I can return from China. I am tempted to just mail it before I leave with an explanation that I am out of the country for a month, I know they will be requesting this package.. please accept it if it arrives a little early. Yikes! you need that coversheet. just leave pack w/friend. if possible, get on webcam so you see and have him attach this barcoded cover sheet. when you see this sheet, you will glad you did. 12/13 to Guz, I do not even think mine will be sent by then
  2. Might as well take the G-325A copies. Bring some extra's too, because it is enivatable you will make some mistake/correction/spelling/etc.. at some point of time. Or, if you have internet access, just print them off when you are there. Get her original signature on them, but don't date it yet. You never know what might happen there on this trip, so bringing the papers with is not a bad idea. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/g-325a.pdf Bring some DS-230(Chinese address and signature needed) forms and get some EMS labels(have her fill out her address in "To" section of label(s) in chinese and english, you will need them later for P3. This should save you time mailing back and forth. If you need a W-7 for future tax purposes get a copy of her passport bio page.
  3. James how do you access the Internet? My problem as far as I know is I can't have DSL without a landline. Just call your phone company and tell them you want to dump landline because all you ever use is a cell phone. tell them you would like to keep the DSL. I did this w/my Phone company (Alltel), but maybe you cannot, but try. Then if they let you out, go to Viatalk.com (vonage too expensive) and piggyback your dsl so have phone/fax/service/E911. I used skype in/out while in China, just brought laptop and my external mic (no need for skype phone).
  4. I dont claim her on 21C (wife) because it says not to count her twice. So total on wifes form will be 4 me, her, and 2 other children from previous marriage. However, on our daughters form, I will claim daughter on line 21a, my wife on 21C, 2 other dependents, and myself for a total of 5. It seems strange that I end up with 2 different numbers on the forms. I say this is WRONG, since you just claimed your wife TWICE... This is they key line in all the directions: "Do not include any relative listed on a separate visa petition." Therefore.. you DO NOT list the wife on the daughters form at 21C. Just as you didn't include the daughter on the mothers form... --- Household and sponsorship is the most confusion issue on this form when more than one person is sponsor: The reason you do not list the one on the other's form is because: 1) They have their own form 2) There is no guarantee they are approved.. so if you list one person on another form, and that person is not approved, then the form is not incorrect. When in doubt, call NVC.. they will explain how to deal with two visa applicants. I did as DZ said and called NVC, took the person's ID # also. mine was total of 2 for wife I864 and 3 for daughter's I864. NVC went line for line w/ me when filling out form.
  5. David, I believe you are usually right, but I will question this statement. Instructions for line 9 say: 9. Accompanying Family Members You are Sponsoring. The immigrant you are sponsoring may be bringing a spouse and/or children to the United States. If the spouse and/or children will be traveling with the immigrant, or within six months of the immigrant's entry to the United States and you are sponsoring them, you should list the names and other requested information on the lines provided. If any dependents are not immigrating, will be immigrating more than 6 months after the sponsored alien arrives in the United States, or you are not sponsoring them, do not list their names here. A separate Form I-864 will be required for them when they apply for their immigrant visas. Of course at the actual line 9 it says: I am sponsoring the following family members immigrating at the same time or within six months of the principal immigrant named in Part 2 above. Do not include any relative listed on a separate visa petition. I don't know, it seems like conflicting information. Trust DZ and TY on this, I have just done this and my CR1/CR2 I864s have been accepted. Also, only sent 1 transcript for each I864 (2006 joint return)
  6. Flychina. $142 total includes DHL shipping back to you. Call 1st for 90 day, I forgot and only got 30 day. I never stay that long, so it was ok.
  7. We are CR/1 and she has filled out a ds-230 for me already. I dont know what EMS labels are, nor why I need them for DS-230. Can you please explain? I will be in China in December, and I can get the labels if I know what they are. Thanks! I am homesick too, but my home is in Suzhou. EMS is like our USPS. In my IV instruction packet it says to get these mailing labels to attach to DS230 so they can use them to send P4 to your wife. As much as I do not go to Mcratbburgers (Mcdonalds) I really want hambuger and fries!
  8. I just got my check yesterday, pretty cool indeed. I almost had a problem getting mine cashed, but I talked to my credit union manager and I had my wife's passport and our marriage liscense present, although she didn't ask for it. She did ask for me to have my wife send a letter giving me permission to sign the check for her. Question??? when I file taxes this year, direct deposit will eliminate this problem? Can you file state taxes with your wife number? Yes, I think if you have joint account. Yes, same # with state taxes. I went through this ordeal this year.
  9. If you are CR1 case, have wife send EMS shipping label(s) to you. have her fill out her address in chinese and english. You will need to send these w/DS230. I am here in china getting this done and will send DS230 from here. Man! am I homesick!
  10. MY P2 did not take long at VSC, only 8 months. yeah it was painful.
  11. My wife was scared to death about hiring a lawyer! Since we are CR1/CR2 case, I do all the paper work P-1,P-2, P-3 and probably P-4 as choice of agent. Some mistakes were made (wrong b'dates) but easily correctable. I have got alot of help on message board and/or PM-ing people such as mamabear or David Z and some times I have called NVC (for a laugh) but NVC did stop me from making some mistakes on recent I864s where they went line for line w/me. Would I use a lawyer? If I had such disposable money and found a competent person, as for the time being, I keep trudging along.
  12. Well finally got I864 for laopo, about a month after getting daughter's. looking at laopo's I864 barcoded return sheet it has her GUZ# and it has her listed as IR1 not CR1 since we're only married 1 year. called NVC who help fill out both forms line by line, man! was I about to make some big mistakes. They said the IR1 problem would be corrected by them and also the wrong birthdate for laopo when I send in the DS230 w/ her passport biographic page. we'll see!
  13. I am looking at mine right now dated 10/10/2007 issuance Categories (L) Duration of each stay 030 Entries (M) If I knew to post a pic of it , I would attach to this message.
  14. You can always just handwrite the parts that don't fit, just print small and clear (or adjust your font size if you want to get technical). Any document you send in or give to the USCIS/GUZ must be translated to the English language if it is in another language. yes, I agree with handwriting. There is no where that says you can't. I did that with ours where my parent's long Irish names and spouse's crazy long addresses would not fit. Easily fit when I wrote them in after filling in most in laptop.
  15. My concern was her having to sign the returns and me providing information about her income. I will file single. More importantly, I think I have to show myself being married on the tax return she will take to the interview, for safety sake in my situation... I didn't know I should have done it before or I would have. My wife actually brought this up to me... She talks on 001 quite frequently. who, me? i already got my taxes processed and returned in about 6 weeks, including her ITIN. when you file in the states you submit the W7 with the federal tax return to the Pen. state address, not the Austin address like normal. They process your W7, produce an ITIN and attach that to the federal taxes for processing as either MFJ/MFS. You don't need to submit for a W7 first, wait for it, then submit the federal forms. I am a little confused about the Pen address mentioned. My W-7 instructions say to mail tax returns and documents (copy of wife's passport) with the W-7 to PO Box 149342, Austin, TX ... "Do not use mailing address in the instructions for your tax return." I filed for an extension until Oct 15 and need to send. Where? Do exactly as directions, I also sent my tax returns w/ W-7 to Austin this year. See if you can do the direct deposit, I did not and had a hard time getting it cashed. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw7.pdf
  16. Flychina- $142 total includes DHL 2nd day shipping for 1 yr multi entry in total
  17. The details of US immigration have always been a matter of controversy. The Chinese Exclusion Act is a case in point. There are a lot of people in the US today who want to either ban or sanction trade with China. Further, there is an undercurrent that wishes to greatly limit the number of visas granted to China; AGAIN! Just to amplify this post a little, not that it needs it, but if you read the "Chopstick" article check out the responses underneath it. Most, if not all, are accusing China of something akin to a clandestine war on the US. Pathetic really. And as much as I want/need to come home this mentality scares me. I agree. There seems to be a concerted anti-China effort gaining momentum lately. One recent news article was focusing on a family trying to live without buying anything imported from China. Yes, pathetic. China is now manufacturing thousands of quality products being exported to the US. Life as we know it today would not survive without them; and quite frankly I find it repugnant all the negative press China is receiving lately about lead paint etc. China is doing much more each and every day to improve itself in the global market and the focus should be on that, not on a bunch of old whiney Chinese haters who get their panties in a bunch when another country does something better than the US. Not to go too far off topic, but this needs to be said. Let me tell you a short story. We own six chain stores in Fuzhou. We do some export and recently we had the opportunity to conduct a transaction with a businessman from the US. I insist on the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price. We found the merchandise the businessman wanted, quality at a very reasonable price, but he decided that he could find it cheaper, and consequently the merchandise was also garbage IMO. But it didn't matter the $$$$ did. So when people go berserk about low quality merchandise coming from China, maybe they should consider the source, and the source ain't China. Many stories are written to sell newspapers. Yes, it seems as though the media has has forgotten about all the crap we have been producing. Hmmm let see, the spinach last year killing people, the Firestone Tire/Ford rollovers, countless meat packing plants recalls, the Crown Vic's with w/the gas tank explosions along w/ this same problem dating back to the Pinto's and Corvairs. As for Mattel and other toy companys, man! we can't find somebody here build and buy them from. Oh, I forgot it's all about max profit and bonus money for the CEO. Whew! I gotta stop ranting
  18. I had planned on going, but laopo will not take a chance on getting blue slip. Plans are if pink slipped, family from everywhere will come for a big party to see her off to USA. She just does not want to get everything set up and then get blue slip. Her perfect plan would to get visa before '08 Spring festival to make it easier on family to attend party. Either way I go there in Nov and Spring Fest.
  19. Hope everyone remembered this is 8/19 is Chinese Lover's day (China's version of Valentine's Day. Annie's flowers came through again, very happy again w/ their service.
  20. Congrats and it is so nice to see another CR1/CR2 get through.
  21. Hey! where are those fat pills (dougnuts)? I am afraid if I tell the whole world, then there will be none for me when I arrive. They only fry a limited number each day. They are well hidden in the depths of the inner city. Only one other member knows the answer and I had to tell him, because he had retired from my Department¡..you know, a cop thing. But I will share the secret with those who are in town, the same time as me. I wonder if the GUZ IVO's know about these great doughnuts !!?? Hmmmmmmmmm Uhh, whatever.
