  1. Don't worry Eric, I'll bring my wife along. B) Jim, the interview is in San Bernardino. I think we have a young lady to translate if needed. What color underwear, hmmmm!
  2. This has, no doubt, been posted many times, but, has anything changed on what to bring to the AOS interview? In reference to the Interviewing Officer, DavidXihuan says: "he freely said to me that some come in these interviews with 10 lbs of paper and pictures and it’s not necessary." If you bring everything they mention in the NOA, then you would be bringing in 10 lbs of paper. I would like to know the actual real necessities to bring. Thanks I filed the G-28 as Jim Julian suggested. That allows me to be there with her, correct? And, can a translator also be there?
  3. You know Rick, I think you deserve a break or two. Congratulations!
  4. Thanks Jim, I'll tell her. It seems like they are asking to bring everything I had in the original file?? We already did the civil surgeon requirement.
  5. Well, wouldn't you know. Today I check the mail and there is the NOA for her interview on February 4th. Now I'm convinced that the lady at the service center could have told me something. She chose not to. Oh well, forget her, now it's on to the interview. Yonghua is not understanding all of this, but I do my best to explain it to her. I'm sure she will think that she gets the green card at the interview. I will, once again, tell her that we have to wait more. She is happy about the interview. Thanks everyone for your responses. Jim, I like the mask, and thanks for the nice comments. Dennis, I think I would use a stronger word than "gall," but I can't post it here. I'm sure I'll be back with some questions.
  6. I finally got in contact with USCIS. My receipt number is good, but they haven't worked the case yet. The woman, (who was a jerk) said that they received a huge amount of applications in July and August and they just haven't gotten to it yet. Yes, she had an attitude. She had me put my wife on the phone after I had told her that she does not speak much English. She asked her several questions. She asked her birth date which my wife did not understand. She said, "put your husband back on the phone." She asked me why my wife did not know her birthdate. I then asked my wife her birthdate and she spoke into the phone and told the lady. The lady seemed pissed and wanted to know why my wife would not answer her and tell her the birthdate. I said, I don't know, maybe she understands me because I'm standing right here in front of her. She said, "well, that doesn't make any sense." I didn't want to get upset because who knows what they can punch in on the computer and delay you even more.
  7. Hey, way to go! My wife asked me to pick up a Driver Handbook in Chinese, which I did. This will probably be a long drawn out venture, but, we have to start sometime. Her friend just took her written test and failed because she didn't notice that there were two pages of questions and she didn't do the last page. To be continued . . .
  8. It didn't do me any good and I would agree with Gino (above). It's not ACH, it's the VO who makes the decision. I think ACH is just something people do to ease their minds a little -- knowing that they're doing all they can do to get the visa. JMO
  9. I haven't heard a thing since biometrics the first of September. Some, who have filed after we did, have their green cards already. What is the "reasonable" time to wait, if there is any such thing as "reason?"
  10. There's nothing like good old tenacity to get it done. Congratulations!
  11. I got an unexpected call from a USCIS survey. They knew that I had recently called. Some of the questions they asked were: how was our phone service? Was the man you talked to polite? Did he raise his voice? How do you rate our website? Were you able to get the information you wanted? etc. It was quite a lengthy survey, so maybe they are trying to improve. Who knows. I was very honest and told the lady that I had not received "ANY" information from them.
  12. Congratulations ty: what a relief it must be.
  13. I still haven't heard a thing and the number still does not show. I called the 1-800-375-5283 number and got nowhere. I was told that the receipt number is not in their system. However, I talked to a supervisor who told me that it does not mean the number is not valid.
  14. Clayton, take a look at the "Salton" rice cookers. They work well and are not expensive. There are various models. Also, as Lee mentioned, Thailand rice seems to be the best. The brand Yonghua likes is called "Three Ladies" which is also Thai rice.
  15. Good luck to you Brian and Lili. Just be patient, keep busy and hang in there.
  16. Way to go, Mike -- another step forward.
  17. Congratulations! This has to be a Thanksgiving that you will never forget. Best Wishes!
  18. Congratulations, Jason - nice to hear from you.
  19. Ha ha! I knew Phil would know that I was talking about him. Congratulations, Phil. I'll be talking to you soon. The other friend is Tom back in Massachusettes. His wife got a job already. Anyway, we just have to wait it out and hope for the best.
  20. I understand fully Ron. It took over a month before my wife's case number made it into the online system. In fact, it was one day after her biometrics appointment when her MSC number was finally online. Has your wife done her biometrics yet Ron? Lance She had her biometrics on September 5th. I just heard that a friend of mine filed after we did and had biometrics a couple weeks after we did, just got their appointment for interview. He and another friend of mine never went to a civil surgeon, (we did) both got through this without being signed off by a cs. I congratulate both of them. I'm just pointing out that the civil surgeon issue, which is another topic, is either being overlooked or is not required for some. Anyway, hopefully, we'll be hearing something pretty soon. B)
  21. Good luck to you Pb. I think that it's great if you are in a position where you can go rent an apartment and be together while you wait it out. Go for it. And listen to Chilton, he speaks from experience.
