Can anyone tell me about a Chinese Ring Ceremony? I am told this is a custom for those of us with a K1 visa who wish to honor there friends and family before leaving China. I am planning on returning in June and would like to gather some info on this before returning. I asked my SO about this, But she had not heard of this before. Any help would be apprieciated. The exact same happened to me. I called the DOS on Feb 15th. They told me that the P4 was mailed on Feb 14th. They also gave me a interview date of March the 2nd. I was concerned with the time frame between the mailing and the interview date. So I spent the money and bought the Pin Number for the GUZ information line. I had my SO call the number and they told her that nothing had been mailed yet. That is was a false alarm. Yet on Feb 18th the P4 arrived at my SO's home. Luckily we are pretty prepared so we are going thru with the interview on the 2nd. I had to mail some documents to her because I was not going to be able to make interview. I sent them to the hotel she will staying at in GUZ. I used the USPS(FedEx) rush service and in arrive today ( 3 days). The DOS also told me that some information was also mailed to me. As of today's date I have yet to recieved anything. I had also emailed the Consulate on the 16th about the time frame . They responded yesterday confirming what the DOS had said. I would concure that hotline service needs to be upgraded. Good luck to you and you SO on your upcoming interview.

I am not sure how far in advance you are planning, But we had less than 2 weeks between the receival of the P4 and the interview. Good Luck

Hello Critter They put me in the same kind of boat. I called the DOS on Feb 15, They told me the P4 was mailed on the 14th with a interview on the 2nd of March. I emailed my SO and gave her the heads up but with only 16 days between the Mailing and the interview I was a little concerned. So I payed the fee and bought the time to call the Consulate. When she talked to them they told her it was a false alarm and the P4 had not been mailed yet. SO guess what happened next it arrived at her home on the 18th with the interview date of the 2nd. So we are trying to make sure all of the documents are in order so she can still make the interview. I have sent some things by Express Mail to the Hotel she will be staying at in GUZ. I am not sure if they will be needed but I sent them anyway. Good Luck and Congradulations

Congradulation Jim I ended up in the same boat as you guys, My So got her P4 and interview date was only 14 days later. She is going for a March 2nd interview. Wish us luck and we will keep you all informed

Just a thought for those of you concerned with 3rd party issues. When I first joined this website I had posted a picture of my SO and her Chinese name. When I told her about this she asked me to change the picture to something that would not show her face. She also suggested that I use her Western name rather than her Chinese name. She explained that her current employer may not be happy knowing that she may be planning to leave her current job. The availablity of the internet is growing in China. Anyone that might want to cause trouble could easliy access this website and look for people that they know and cause problems for them. I have removed her picture and changed her name till we get her Visa. Good Luck All of you coming up for interviews Van

Congrat's from a neighbor from the north. When my SO gets here we will have to make a trip down to see Chinatown in Chicago. Hello Fellow CFL's This is a great website. I heard about this website from another website's message board. I can truthfully say that the amount of information that is available is outstanding. It will hopefully make my task somewhat easier. I hope that the info I have submitted can be used to help with any of the timelines. Any other advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated.
